Hello friends!
In this episode, I bring you the buyer's guide for the new 2024 Cervelo Aspero GRX RX610 gravel bike.
It has a very good retail price of $3,200.

Take a Rose Backroad FF instead.
You'll get way better components including powermeter and the new GRX RX825 Di2 for the same price of an Aspero with GRX 820 (and obviously no powermeter).
Very interesting. Will have a look at Rose Backroad
@@CyclingInsider By the way sorry, I did not mean to sound super snarky (which I think I did).
Nice. Bu would be better as a 2x.
It seems to me that for gravel bikes 1x is pretty good.
@@CyclingInsider 1x makes sense for MTB, where due to frequent shifts, extreme riding and rough terrain there's the risk of a chain drop in front.
Doesn't make sense anywhere else. Very expensive cassettes, extreme chain angle, long derailleur cages, sweeping the chain across the cassette, reduced gear range, too many negatives.
I've got a 1x and a 2x, the 2x is easier and more satisfying to ride.
@@PRH123 It makes complete sense for gravel bikes, as they are the new "do-anything bike for the people." For 95% of consumers, a 1x setup is superior, being easier to control, more reliable, and better climbing gears. The loss of top end is irrelevant for this rider class, and chain line and derailleur cage length are non-issues for more setups.
@@prasad530 hmm, how is 1x more reliable? Chain line is not irrelevant, it causes wear. Don’t understand better climbing gears, the gear range of a 1x is actually less. And long derailleur cages are more prone to damage.
You can walk and chew gum at the same time, if you practice a little bit. Just like shifting a front derailleur.
@@PRH123 Thanks for your reply, I'm a retailer and so my perspective is focused on a more average consumer. I'd argue that any drivetrain without a front derailleur is inherently more reliable. You are right that chain line can possibly cause more wear, but I've put thousands of miles on my 1x gravel setup and haven't seen enough of a difference that would cause me to recommend something else to most people. In terms of gear range, obviously it depends on the setup. I should have said that 1x does not inherently have less climbing range. Using new GRX 12 speed, their 10-51 cassette option and 40t front right has a better climbing gear than their max 2x offering.
Bikes are expensive and complicated today with tons of options that intimidate many consumers. I'd like to see the sport grow, and from that perspective, 1x is the best option for most. As an experienced rider the only thing that annoys me on a 1x gravel setup is when riding on smooth road, cassettes typically jump 2 teeth in the smaller range and sometimes I can't find the perfect gear for my cadence vs a 1 tooth jump in 2x setups, but I've decided that's an ok sacrifice.
Respectfully, you sound like a vampire making a long pitch about bicycles to distract us while you ask permission to come inside our home 😬
haha
tbh paint schemes suck comparing to purple one or yellow
