      @@PBKreviews hi, I actually came to look at the internals to see where the wireless charger was.
      Do you think it's okay to use these magsafe style cases with magnets on pixel 8a to attach to wireless chargers and phone cradle?
      Are these companies making cases with magnets in the correct place?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 27 dny +1

      If the case is designed for the phone, then most likely it is engineered with schematics which place the magnets in the correct place.

    The Pixel a series was great but had gone very wrong in recent years. It’s bloated with many unnecessary features and as such it’s too close in price to the Pixel 8. Consumers are better off buying the regular Pixel.
    To make the Pixel a series viable again, Google needs to implement:
    1 a full plastic construction (both the sides and the back) in matte finish, because glossy plastic scratches too easily;
    2 use cheaper and lesser known glass products for the screen (such as the DragonTrail glass on the 3a);
    3 remove wireless charging, most people buying phones at this price point don’t have and will not buy wireless chargers;
    4 remove official water resistance rating (not necessarily the resistance itself, according to OnePlus, the seals aren’t expensive, but the certification is);
    5 and finally, a price tag of $400.

    • @BillJones
      @BillJones Před 24 dny +1

      I paid $299 for my 8a (before trade in) ... and then I bought a wireless charger.
      I suspect you are full of beans, sir. I bid you good day.

    Please show the USB connector under the gasket, is there a compound there?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 27 dny +1

      Not sure what you mean by under the gasket. If you are referring to removing the red gasket/rubber around the charger port, then there isn't any compound under it.

    • @AlekseyBorisovich
      @AlekseyBorisovich Před 27 dny

      @@PBKreviews 7:27 the black gasket covers the power connector USB-C , and the contacts on the board must be covered with compound (or not covered, it varies)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 27 dny +1

      Ok, now you're saying power connector. Please clarify what you are referring to. The USB-C charger port?? or something else. If the port, then its the same exact way as the previous model.

    Unfortunately, I did not see the screen removal process. The Pixel 8 and 8 pro had problems related to the sharp ground pins of the screen. Sometimes they would pierce the screen or the cable to the screen and the image would turn green.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 27 dny +1

      It's the same as the pixel 7a, take a look at that video I did and you will see what its like: czcams.com/video/cKEX8jNNzck/video.html

    • @markprosto420
      @markprosto420 Před 27 dny

      Thank You! I think the design of this phone is more durable than the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. That's why I bought the Pixel 7a instead of the Pixel 7, which sometimes had a peeling screen.

    And Pixel continues with their horrible design, soldering the charging port to the motherboard. Seriously, every other phone manufacturer under the sun have easily replaceable charging ports now, on either a flex cable, or on a sub board/sub assembly. It's insane pixel continues with his trend, and ruins an otherwise pretty nice phone.

    It's weird that compared to the pixel 8 pro, they have made the backplate removable. Is it even possible to remove it on the 8 pro or you have to stick with the display? This seems to be a smarter solution. Nice vid anyway. :)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 25 dny

      Thanks. Nope on the 8 pro the screen needs to be removed. Not sure why they don't do this design with the 8 and 8 pro, same thing with last years models on the 7 and 7 pro vs the 7a

    • @pi3c3com
      @pi3c3com Před 25 dny

      @@PBKreviews Well at least if you break the display you don't have to bother with anything else... I never understood why phone manufacturers are using so much adhesives. They should learn a bit more from watch makers, where only screws can hold together the entire thing and they are still have a high level of durability and perfectly water proof. I'm changing my phones only because the lack of updates or because of the battery become used.
