Giant PUBLIC LAND Texas BUCK DOWN!

  • Food sources like persimmons are a huge tactic while hunting public land in Texas. Bucks run ragged all throughout the rut, but that doesn't mean they don't stop at these social hubs to smell around and grab a snack while looking for does. Deer are habitual. Whitetails might not always go to the same place every day from bedding, but they do similar things almost every morning and evening.
Tyler scores while hunting public land in Texas as a giant mature buck rises from his bed and comes into Tyler's saddle hunting setup, but not after a mishap with another giant buck in pursuit of a hot doe happens first!

@@TheElementWild I think thoughts can be quite polarizing on both sides. For the anti hunters there is a hunters are savage serial killers who bath in the blood of their prey mentality and on the other side there is a you should be absolutely fine with the death and blood and you're somehow less manly if you have any reservations or remorse about it. I believe there are a lot of people who don't fall into either category and even some who are unsure how they are supposed to feel about it. Yeah I probably think too much about it. Next harvest I hope to say a few things similarly to what you did. Again, appreciate your willingness to address it

Came across your video, great kill BTW, but question...What is your bow/arrow set up? The average 65-70lb draw bow doesn't drop or raise only about 2.5-3" from 35-40yds. Unless you are pulling 50-55lbs, and shooting a 700gr arrow. 3 yds to me wont cause an arrow to shoot that high. Unless your POA was high. I have shot my bow starting at 15yds, and walked back every 5yds out to 50, and the total drop, at 70lbs was roughly 9-10". Holding dead center mass of the body w 40yd pin, and shooting over at 37 is more than 8-10"" of difference.

@@TheElementWild then technically w a heavier arrow at 37yds, holding your 40yd pin, should have more drop. I think that ol buck fever caught you and just flat shot over him..lol It happens to all of us, I drew on a big buck in Illinois this year, and luckily had plenty of time to think about my shot, because I was at full draw, with my string about 1" away from my face. I got so caught up in grunting him in, forgot to anchor. I readjusted, and was able to connect, but in 30 years of bowhunting, had never done that before. Good luck man, enjoy your vids!!
