RIP Annette...You were the mouseketeer I remembered when I watched the original MMC on TV back in the late 1950's...you and Doreen and the two littlest mouseketeers (Cubby and Karen) all stood out in my mind. I have all your Beach movies and some of your Disney ones...you will be missed
It was absolutely terrible how the tabloids went after her when she first started having trouble with her gait. She was drunk. She was on drugs, blah blah, blah. Finally she had to go public with her MS, although she didn't want to. My wife has MS and Annette was an inspiration to me. You will be missed.
HermaphroditeMormon when I was a child my best friends mom had relapsing remitting MS people said the same cruel things. It hurt her husband’s career because people thought she was a drunk
I like how they alternate between the voices of the "younger" and "older" Annettes, to give a more age-appropriate(for lack of a better description) perspective.
Annette sure had a great and I mean GREAT husband that loved her So much, Jubal. He did a documentary that he seemed to know that she would have wanted, meaning following her awful illness. So sad. Life sucks in this system of things that we are living in.
I grew up in the 60s. After Kennedy was assassinated, Johnson got us into The Vietnam War. It was horrible. There were drugs, rock and roll; sexual revolution, dropping acid, smoking pot. As a child it was so over whelming. All the sweet looking boys from the 1950s were pot heads.
I missed the 50's but as for growing up in the Fun loving 60's, it was a Great time to be a teenager... the music; the singers, the dance crazes were so much fun... The whole world just seemed like a better place then, not saying that we didn't have our share of problems, we did! But nothing like now.
"Moochie" (Kevin Corcoran) was not a Mouseketeer during the first season. He appeared in a couple serials, but only wore the ears and appeared in roll call one time - during the 4th anniversary show. His appearance in the premiere roll call is an error in this movie.
My mom loved watching "Spin and Marty" as a kid...I know it was remade in the mid-90s as a TV movie with David "Riku" Gallager, but I never watched it...
To me Annette was always an older woman. She was four years older than me, but as the motorcycle guy said she was my ideal. I wanted to go see the beach movies, but my parents wouldn't let me. I saw then many years later on video. Don't know what all the fuss was about. She still has a hold on me because of her beauty and charm. Don't tell my wife, she wouldn't like it.
Thanks for your comment ! Your parents wouldn't let you see the "Beach" movies ? Did they think they were too risque ? Walt Disney would not let Annette show her belly button in her "Beach" movies. They were relatively tame; even by 1960s standards. Of course, Eric Von Zipper and his motorcylce gang I guess were not good influences, though they portrayed as buffoons.
The actresses who played Annette did fine jobs, but none had that "it" factor, that elusive and elegant sweetness that made people fall in love with her upon sight. See my Annette Funicello playlist on my channel. I created it for research, but it becomes a profound falling-in-love experience if one watches the videos in the order in which they are listed. (Please forgive me: I will re-post this same comment under the other videos for this movie.)
Fun fact: I went to school with 5 kids who went to Mouse camp, or whatever it was called. 3 got rejected, the 4th...he was picked, but the show got cancelled. This was for the version of MMC that had Justin, Christina and Brittany...5th got picked too with the 4th kid, but landed an Apple Jacks commercial that went national, and is here on youtube in some of those 90's commercial clips...and he lost out to Elijah Wood for the kid lead in Forever Young, starring Mel Gibson and Jaime Lee Curtis
As this clip ended, the camera is marked WFIL-TV... because American Bandstand was taped in Philly, and those were the call letters before becoming WPVI, home to their well-known "Action News" broadcast.
Jay Raphael Jiao Inot I just googled it and her name is alexadra purvis she has done alot of acting since this movie and has a sister who was a child star too legacyweb.com/cast_n_crew/alexandrapurvis/index.html
Had anyone ever told her, "Sorry you're just not right for what we want. Good Luck to you, .... NEXT Audition". Nothing like 7/24/365 days of positive vibes. !! GOSH Why was she smiling al the time.
The young actress in this film looks nothing like the young Annette I grew up watching on the MM Club! The one feature, the curly hair style, is reminiscenr of Annette, but the face... the smile... definitely not close.
Hey - it was a wonderful time, Walt sponsored & inspired millions of kids. Not just Annette, but Science, Space, Adventure, A Better Tomorrow... Who's doing that today ??? Look what kids are doing today !!! Yeah - vote for obama, & watch our kids go further down the tubes !!!
How I loved Annette. She was so beautiful, inside and out. She never changed. A true inspiration.
Annette funicello was America's sweetheart. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

Hats off to Linda Lavin/ she does a Great job portraying Annette's mom

This guy makes a great Disney! Annette is well cast AS WELL!
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion !!

This is so wholesome. Her story is a precious one
Indubitably ! She was a great talent & a wonderfully classy lady. She left us much too soon.... :-(

God bless Mr Glen Holt and his wife Annette May they Rest In Peace for all Eternity with God ❤️
Amen
How Happy to see Annette !! ❤❤
And... an orderly, stable, and saner time.
Love This !! ❤
i wished i grew up in that time period (50's & 60's),
I grew up in the 60s. After Kennedy was assassinated, Johnson got us into The Vietnam War. It was horrible. There were drugs, rock and roll; sexual revolution, dropping acid, smoking pot. As a child it was so over whelming. All the sweet looking boys from the 1950s were pot heads.

Len Cariou starred as Walt Disney in this TV film. Now, he stars as the former New York City police commissioner, Henry Reagan on "Blue Bloods."
Omgosh I didn't even realize. Len cariou as in the original Sweeney Todd. Yet he actually looks like Disney here!
"Moochie" (Kevin Corcoran) was not a Mouseketeer during the first season. He appeared in a couple serials, but only wore the ears and appeared in roll call one time - during the 4th anniversary show. His appearance in the premiere roll call is an error in this movie.
This is a great clip but certainly ends abruptly ! Bummer ! Oh the humanity.... :-(
My mom loved watching "Spin and Marty" as a kid...I know it was remade in the mid-90s as a TV movie with David "Riku" Gallager, but I never watched it...
Awesome clip!
I could not agree more !! :-)
The actor playing Walt Disney is Len Cariou, who plays Henry Reagan on the CBS crime drama Blue Bloods
Len Cariou is also a Tony winning Broadway star. He has appeared in huge Broadway hits like "Applause", "A Little Night Music" & "Sweeny Todd".

I thought Moochie was like, 5 when that show started. :/
Moochie was not a Mouseketeer, but he was an actor who was played by Kevin Corcoran
The little girl that Annette was talking to is a little pretty one,I wonder where she's now
Jay Raphael Jiao Inot I just googled it and her name is alexadra purvis she has done alot of acting since this movie and has a sister who was a child star too legacyweb.com/cast_n_crew/alexandrapurvis/index.html

Aaron Price
Len Cariou ("Walt Disney") shacked up with Glenn Close in the 1970's!!!
I hope there were no cooked pet rabbits involved !!
Tell it, Jim!
The young actress in this film looks nothing like the young Annette I grew up watching on the MM Club! The one feature, the curly hair style, is reminiscenr of Annette, but the face... the smile... definitely not close.
Age difference between Annette & Glen?
MegaNFer81 Glen was 12 years older
Wait a minuet!!! Where's The Part 3?? :( There's anybody Find The Part 3?
...The Mr. Disney is Blue Bloods Gramps.......;--),,,,,,
This is not accurate, Annette was not even developed when she started on Mickey Mouse club! Same as other kids!
I know.. it makes me sick.
I have to be honest, the actress who played the young Funicello is no where near beautiful as the real Funicello at the same age.......
I can't help but wonder if when she started in the Mickey Mouse club just how far she'd go?
I was a huge fan of the mickey mouse club and wanted to be a mouseketeer
I thought it was her husband!
annette kinda looks like hailee steinfeld here

Sorry but Annette was much prettier than that actress.
Fat Walt is fat.
Lol, doesnt look or sounds anything like walt, what a bad casting.
A reactionary and hypocritical time!!!
