Wir sind dieses jahr auf unserer Italientour auch wieder über den Großglockner. Nur leider war es dann oben sehr neblig und hat noch angefangen leicht zu regnen, deswegen musste die Edelweißspitze ausfallen. Aber nichtsdestotrotz ein geiler Pass. Fahre ne 2016 vfr800x. One of the few people that understands how to present a bike! in 99% of the reviews we dont even hear the sound of the bike. The sound of a bike helps our imagination to have an idea how a bike will feel.. rather than annoying ADHD music or a stream of unstoppable words. Thx for this! I sold my Tiger 800xcx and bought this machine, R version :)

Wow! Unbelievable... When I first saw the KTM 790 Adventure at the Eicma last year, I thought it looks ugly. But now I see it in your video, ridden by you on the Grossglockner road, I realize it actually looks perfect 😉 KTM should pay to you the wages they pay to their designers! 😇

I'm seriously considering one of these to replace my S1000XR when the time comes. I'd be able to ride closer to the bike's limits than I can now, and the 790 looks like a lot of fun.
Or maybe you attend some professional instructions and learn to approach the S1000s limits. Either way, have fun!
@@ExtremeDeathman How many years are you talking here? Getting to the limits of the S1000 takes more than a few lessons imo.

Nice video. I really like this KTM and I'd like to buy it. He almost convinced me in everything but the size of the tires (typical enduro tires) in the case of a sporty riding scares me a little. What do you think about it and what impressions did it give you in riding it?

This video reminded me of driving a crf 250 on crete, which to me was a ride that i enjoyed a lot. + phobia almost kicked in since i could not see how close you parked it to that edge.

Amazing video. Sounds like we are close to the exhaust. What's your secret? This is truly great.
I´m quite sure a sound recorder it was used for recording this!! You record the sound and then in edition you mix that sound with the video. You can place the recorder in the bike (underneath the seat for example) or may in your backpack.

As you stated in the video you van ride the bike in low rpm without that it becomes jerky ? I was planning to buy the ducati multistrada 950s, but the vibrations and the engine behavior under 3000rpm puts me off! How does it compare to the ducati?
it does a lot better than the Ducati in that aspect. But if you want smooth you'll need to take the Tiger 800

@@michaelhadim23 I despise the 850 GS. It's basically perfect but it lacks soul. And its engine is incredibly boring. The 850GS is the last one I'd choose out of ALL travel enduros. God I really hate that bike :D
i got today KTM 790R guys that quickshifter pulls are so addictive and pricise no laging no jurking just power! just waiting to get over 1000km for full power! :D

I did not watch all of it but this is the first vid i have seen where you are using taller gears eg 5 & 6 a lot.
Usually you using 2 & 3. Seems this engine has good torque, hence taller gears used?
the engine has good torque but what kind of gears I'm using is a matter of which road I'm riding. Großglockner road has many straight bits. Plus you're on high altitude which means you lose quite a bit of power which then means you can be much harder on the throttle

How do you compare with the beloved 1290SAS? Comfort and agility?
I'm happier with the 790s comfort. Its engine doesn't seduce me to go hard and mad all the time like the big V2 does. Handling wise there's not too much of a difference when going fast actually

II rode this bike too for a day. It will probably be my next bike. I loved the exceptional quick shifter. But my only concern is still the comfort. After one day riding, my but was really aching. The saddle as well as the suspension is very hard. For sure in comparison to my BMW RT. But you really think it is comfortable enough ?
for me it is. I had no issues after 3 consecutive riding days. But of course it is less comfortable when compared to any BMW
Spent 4 full days on one. I'll be changing the seat but otherwise I found it satisfactory. Using a Puig touring windscreen.

i got the 790 adventure for 10000km and now i get a multistrada 950s.
i think that ktm win for the torque at low rpm, but multistrada 950 win for all the rest, is most complete.

Da sie ja mit ihren 56 PS mir etwas matt vor kommt. Fahre hauptsächlich Landstraße. Mach bitte noch lange so weiter. Ride safe!

Hey Schaaf, ich wollte dich mal fragen in welchen Gängen du dich in den Kehren mit diesem bike bewegt hast, hab mir jetzt nämlich auch eine geholt, und bin gerade dabei mich mit ihr ein wenig "anzufreunden" 😅?! Bin davor ne alte BMW R 1100 gs gefahren, die war da nämlich ein wenig soufärener. Natürlich fahr ich in Zeiten von Corona auch nicht mehr. Aber ein paar Tipps von dir wären echt schee.

Hi. Ich hab ein paar Fragen an dich.
1. Warum hast du nicht die R genommen, sondern nur die normale?
2. Ist das ein Akra, den du fährst?
3. Bist du die Tenere gefahren und wenn ja, wie findest du die Maschine im Vergleich?
4. Im KTM Forum liest man teilweise von alptraumhaften Problemen mit der Maschine. Öllachen, problematische Bremsen, und bei 95% betroffen: Ein undichtes Display. Gerade bei langen Fahrten ein Unding. Man kommt ja immer in einen Schauer.
Würdest du sie wieder holen?
Ich bin die 790 ADV im Rahmen eines Presse-Events für 3 Tage gefahren, das ist nicht meine. Im Vergleich zur Tenere ist die KTM wesentlich schneller zu bewegen. Aber ja, dafür sind KTMs leider enorm unzuverlässig. Ich selber würde mir wohl die Tenere nehmen.

I keep watching videos about this bike because I tested it for about 15 min and it left confused, but it also brought back some memories of my old Supermotard 400 with single cylinder engine. The thing is that I like long distance travelling and the KTM is less confortable than a V-strom1000 (V engine with a great punch at low rpm), plus it is quite expensive. When I travel, I like to use long gears and have a punchy torque so that I do not have to use high rpms and te V strom is great for that. The KTM is veeery light and has the torque I need, but it is even too responsive to the throttle while in "road" mode, do you think this can ruin a bit its travelling qualities?
Maybe I have to try the rain mode for that. For the rest... it is a bike that can do real offroad and, on asphalt, it gives you the chance to play and have some real fun without worries about the weight. That is why I would really like to make it my next bike (the Vstrom is kinda ugly, even though this KTM is not a perfect beaty as well).
Any comment about using the 790 adv in a more "calm" mood?
Francesco regarding the throttle: i think you will get used to and adjust. I drove the bike for a day and next day it took me a while to get used to the throttle response of my own bike again.
I would not go for the 790 if you're a long distance traveler who likes to stay in the low and mid revs. In this case the VStrom definitely makes more sense!!

In the end I got the vstrom, but actually I am very disappointed. It doesn't turn hard as I expected and the engine pushes a lot at low revs, then it kinda dies... If only I was convinced with the reliability of the KTM for medium/long distances traveling, I think I would go for it.. the last thing I want is to remain stuck far away from home! Do you have any info about failures and problems with this bike? Many say the 790 is not so reliable...

Hi Aleksandar. I rode all of these bikes and it really depends wether you are about to ride it offroad often. If so, I would avoid KTM Adv 790 (non R). Suspension is non-adjustable, very hard and road oriented. R version is a different song really. I like it, but it is also like 4 000 EUR more expensive than Tenere 700 which I am now testing in a long term.

@@motopiknik I bought this one as a private person. Other bikes I can compare with are mostly rented from either motorcycle rentals or importers (journalist fleet). So on Tenere I plan to do 10 000 km this year and more next year.
