  • Hi everyone,
Welcome to a new video here in the July series, I really hope you’re enjoying and most of all getting something out of these videos.
This video might not be for everyone, especially if you’re the golfer that is starting out and just wanting the basics, but if you’re a golfer who wants to take their ball striking game to the next level, specifically the golfer who feels like they plateaued, this on plane, shallowing feel, can we do this.
I like the statement, opposites attract, and the way your hands move in transition will have an effect on how your wrists and then club will fall in the downswing.
One word of warning, this is not easy, but doing this correctly can bring you major rewards to your ball striking.
if you’ve got any questions, please don’t hesitate to get back to me, and I will do my best to reply as soon as I can.
Once again, thank you very much for your continued support, and I wish you well if you’re playing golf today.
    Warren

The best easiest explanation of club shallowing on Utube - without all the technical jargon - I wish I’d come across Warren many many years ago- what a great teacher

So the other day I was asking if we can use the drop and drag drill for irons as well and thanks for clarifying things.
This drill for irons pieces it together for me. The difference between driver swing and iron swing is now apparent. Today I was 2 over par of my local using this iron drill. It’s not easy but simple and it’s sooooo effective. My longest irons were pure and on the money this morning. 2 birdies, several pars and the odd bogey. It is also less taxing on the back and body. Thanks for sharing this Warren, you’re a legend! 😊

Hi there, awesome well done. Like I say the golf swing stays the same, only set up changes throughout the different clubs. Brilliant you’re getting something out of it very happy for you.
      Really appreciate your feedback

Great drill, the best I have tried for shallowing the downswing plane. Thanks Warren, keep them coming.

You brought back memories from the sixties when Jack Nicolas of all people recommended pulling on the toilet chain from the top of the backswing. No wonder I made zero progress listening to his advice from yesteryear. Little did we know (and apparently he even knew less in spite of his mastery of the game) when it came to golf instruction thanks to your video and modern day advancements in the arts and sciences of teaching modern day golf. With due respect to Jack, the technology was not available to discover what we have learned today. But that was then and now we are here today.

Yes agreed back then they all just copied each other which was good, so in the 40’s and 50’s everyone was copying Hogan, and failing of course. This has led to a lot dead end roads especially in the 80’s and 90’s for a lot of golfers I knew, with coaches thinking they were the new Leadbetter. Better quality now definitely.
Many thanks for your message and support.

This IMO is the most important move in golf…
Everyone talks about lag and getting the right elbow tucked etc. you can’t achieve that without doing this. This will help in curing most faults especially over the top. Has been for me. Plus it gets the left arm off the body with longer clubs. Thanks Warren

Warren, your videos are great! I believe that my main swing flaws are head movement, unstable lower body and incomplete backswing. I am a 68 year old and really appreciate your “Less is More” advice. Wish I could simplify things and just let the swing happen!

This is what I need. I'm that single figure handicapper who "plods" it along, as I say to people who think I'm good. I have always had difficulty rotating because I'm subconsciously saving the shot half the time. I've never seen this drill to get the hands away like this. I'm thinking it'll be easier for my hands to pass close to my left leg because they would be more outside coming down as you do here. Often, I'm the opposite. Am I on the right track with that thought Warren? I'm prepared to go through this difficult drill the rest of the year if that what it takes. This is the door I have to walk through. Many thanks Warren.

      Hi Kieth,
If I understand your message, requiring a little bit more out to in path with a shallow plane of the Club, yes, you are on the right lines absolutely.
Good luck and many thanks for your feedback .

The hand go way out because the left arm is way above the right…. By rotating left arm hard, that brings the hands in.

You probably are a bit late getting the club squared into the ball, a bit late in getting the hands in close to you, or your lateral swaying with top half too much , important to stay cantered.
My money would be on the first one though, because that’s what I did when I made the change, get your hands back into you more. Hope that helps

I like your videos but not this one, relies to much on body rotation, hands out to the ball creates so many problems, been there, tried that with dreadful results, hands in club head out is easy, consistent and repeatable

Thanks for your message Richy and appreciate it’s not for everyone that’s for sure, like I said in the video, this is hard and will need checking to make sure it’s done properly, but I like that you know what works for you and what doesn’t, so you’re right to not go there.
      Many thanks

@warrenbenett pl do a video on unfolding point of driver vs iron in downswing, and how to square the face comparatively in iron vis a vis driver in single video. Asking too much 🫡
