They are MADE IN INDIA
I know you probably won’t see this, but would love for you to break down a pair of rick Owens shoes. Ramone’s or geobaskets. They’re SO expensive, and probably the least comfortable shoe ever. Would love your expert opinion on them.
You didn't use a black guy in place of a white guy this time.
Last year for Christmas I got both of my boys and myself a Claude wallet, two thumbs up.
@@mirosawirzyk5247 You mean the wallets?
Wested is just around the corner from me and I have one of their Indy jackets in black (a cancelled, custom order) which they kindly altered in their shop to fit me better. They revealed that their jackets are generally made in London's East End (the historical home of London's rag trade), although some are still probably made on site in Kent, but I've always wondered where these Alden copies are made and how they measure up. Thanks for this.
I wore out the heels on my Timberland Pros, so I cut a couple pieces of scrap leather to shape and glued them in place. Working well so far. Also cut some tanned leather into sole shape and put it underneath the foam insert. Doesn’t take much to improve some of the lesser boots out there
The J Crew Kenton pacer boot is a very popular indy-style boot that would make a great installation in this series
Yeah, especially as it costs almost 400€ in Germany.
Third year I’ve been watching your moctober series, my personal favorite. Also the third year I’ve been thinking about Truman moctoe boots but since there is nobody who reviews boots like you do, I’ve refused to make the hefty investment since I’m a working class man. Either way I’m excited for the coming series. Thanks for all the informative work you’ve done, it has helped me from making unfit purchases.
Something I would like to see brought up in future videos in this series is how anatomical the last is compared to the Indy. I do really dig the series idea though, especially for how much of a letdown the Indy boots are for the price
Brilliant, I will do that moving forward
Agreed. I was waiting for the comparison to The Indy's 'best feature'
Agree!!!
Cool to see that he actually followed through on this. The next moctober video has a last comp.
Great review. You keep ‘em honest and we appreciate your hard work on your reviews.
I’m a huge fan of the Indiana Jones franchise and Cosplay as the character since it was the first Cosplay I ever attempted. I only bought the Wested’s cause they are cheaper than the Alden’s. I still plan on getting the 405’s. Cause I like screen accuracy.
I hate to see you cut these boots, but I sure enjoy it and learn a lot. One of the best channels on CZcams
Thank you Rose Anvil for your amazing and wonderful work ! You helped me save some money !!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
lets go 69k spent on shoes
Next goal, $420,069.
Dude 😮.. i been tryna make it out the hood so on my CZcams channel i do food reviews while I’m high 😂
Nice
most intelligent CZcams comment replies
Nice
I hope the Parkhurst Niagara is on your Indy alternative list.
came to the comments to say the same!
Second that I was literally about to type the same comment
Thanks for proving my point since i almost orderedd these boots some time ago. I also made an order according to your recommendation, boots are yet to arrive but i have high hopes!
The Parkhurst Mahogany Niagara better be in this moctober, or at least a different Niagara.
Weston, you gotta check out the Parkhurst Niagara boot. It's got all the components you are looking for in a high quality Indy alternative at half the price
You’ve gotta do the Parkhurst Moc Toes. They seem really well built and might be great alternatives to the Indy’s
This is what I am hoping for as well.
Parkhurst Niagara boots would be a great Indy alternative for you to test, also the Allen Edmonds Freeport
I have these, when i asked them if they were goodyear welt they said they werent aware of what that was but it was resolable lol
Would love to know how good the construction is on the Barker Indiana. Barker has a rep as a high quality English brand, and the Indiana is a nice homage without feeling like a ripoff.
Yay! I’ve waited for you to do this Alden alternative series! I’m hoping you do the j crew Kenton pacer.
Grant stone brass boot next plz
Great video as always!
I'd love to see the new Danner Logger Moc 917 this moctober
I got a pair of these boots a few years back. In addition to the stuff in the video, they run very small. A well made correctly fitting shoe for me runs between 12.5 to 13 US sizing. I usually err on the larger and get a 13, which is what I ordered in this particular shoe. When I got them and tried them on they were way small. I thought they put the wrong size in the box, but the tag sewn onto the tongue does say 13 US. They feel more like an 11. Very tight. I took them to a local shoe shop that does repairs and such and had them stretched... no-go. Still extremely tight.
Initially I tried to return/exchange them but the person I spoke to in England told me that I would be better off trying to sell them due to the high cost of shipping. Not good.
So here they sit...
I’m a 10.5 U.S. What do you think? Would your boots fit me? If so, let’s made a deal
Hello, Cap. I am not ignoring your question. I am trying to source a 10.5 size person to get their thoughts.I'll keep you posted.
@@CaptainWillard830
Have a pair of Txture MocToe Sanity boots in the production process. Supposed to ship in early November.... Can't wait to get my first pair of Indo boots.
Your videos are a source of both information and joy. :)
I like how you put up the razor back from Jim Greene as comparison of similar pricing 😂
I cant believe its moctober already! Im so EXCITED FOR MOCTOBER!
I hope you find the time to review the Grant Stone Ottowa boot. It is half the price of an Alden's Indy and my guess is it's twice the boot.
LETS GOOOOOOO I love this series
Id love to see you review a high end dress boot...something like a gaziano and girling or a john lobb...would be really interesting to see how they stack up!
J.Crew has a sorta Alden replica called the "Kenton pacer boots", they're just under $300. I got them on sale and i've been really enjoying them, i'd love to see yall cut that Alden alternative
Yes I bought the Kenton on sale for 98.00
Anybody paying the MSRP for them is a sucker. J Crew runs sales all year round. It's just a matter of waiting a little bit to get them for half price or even less than that
@@jihigh482
I think he got them for less than MSRP
The Quest for the Aldenturnative continues...
Thank you for doing this the Alden Indy was a bucket list boot but I’ll finding other ones. It’s disappointing
Pretty excited for moctober. 🎉
The Frye Walter lace up is another Indy style. I’ve owned two pair and love them.
Holy hell, nice center cut!!
Can you try a Parkhurst Niagara? I got that as my Alden Alternative, and I love it so far, but would LOVE to see an autopsy on one. :-) Thanks.
I would like to see you do a video on the Grant Stone Ottawa's. They're a NST or a moc toe with a split in the middle of it.
The Niagara from Parkhurst!! Those seem to be THE alternative. Cheers mate. BTW, I am still waiting for the Truman cut in a half 😌
As many have already said we want to see the grant stone brass boot and Parkhurst Niagara!
I once bought a pair of boots that had a true goodyear welt for $40. The welt itself was plastic and I have been slowly replacing it as well as the insole, midsole, and outsole as an ongoing project.
You should do a top 10 budget boots all under 200$
The Beckett Simonon Gallagher boot is similar to the Alden Indy and if you catch them on sale you can pick up a pair for under $200.
Hope to see parkhurst for Indy alternative and Duradero for thorogood alternative
While you are doing moctoes I would love to see you review the J. Crew Kenton Pacer boot. This is also an "Indy" style boot that probably is positioned between probably the boots you are reviewing in this video and Aldens.
You've gotta do the Grant Stone Brass Boot! It came out before the Field Boot, I'm surprised you haven't done a video on them yet.
How about testing the Russell Moccasin Back Country boots? Thanks for all you do, Weston!
J.Crew Kenton pacer boot. Would be interesting to see some of the fashion brands and how some of them stack up to dedicated shoe brands.
Ottawa Boot from Grant Stone would be a dope comparison. They have them in Storm Kudu and they look fantastic
I think a review of J.Crew's Kenton Pacer boots would be great for this series, considering their previous Alden partnership!
I've seen worse for $150 but I would expect to find something like this at DSW for $60 -$80.
Question: When are you doing a Grant Stone Brass Boot?
I'd love to see you do an analysis on Nicks Handmade Boots. They've been popping up a lot on my social media, and have a similar price point to Alden.
Fifth element... Never get enough shout outs, epic, and while I'm sure they made something big like Ruby Rod's coats, part of me wants super high quality orange straps from Leelu's outfit.
Awesome video as always. Would you consider cutting open a pair of rick owens ramones?
Don't underestimate the stress on shoes in classrooms. They probably won't get dirty as quickly, but you have to stand on them all day long. And if they do not give you good support, your feet will hurt like no tomorrow after a short time wearing them. And if the materials are not good, they will wear out pretty quickly. So no, I would not wear these even as a teacher.
That preview thumbnail is hilarious 😂
Hey man, could you make a review on any of the lundhags hiking boots? Really interesting and cool designed boots and I would love to see a halfway cut of it.
I'd like to see you cut in half/ review some moccasins, like Minnetonka vs Sperry vs LL Bean, etc.
Would love to see what’s inside the J Crew Kenton Pacer!
I went and got my wested boots and watched while looking at mine. Kind of disappointing but I wear mine for when I need dress shoes. Like for Church and things. Some moc toe boots that are also goodyear welt that I suggest are silverbull boots, bonanza boots, and patron boots ( only found on ebay).
When are you going to cut apart the timberland Moc toe boot? They currently have two versions, a darker brown and a tan color boot, can’t wait to see the rest of Moctober!
Love the trippy music. JCrew makes an Indy knock off, cleverly called the “Kenton Pacer,” (after Indiana Pacers?). Anyway, it’s Goodyear welted and decent quality, though the tongue doesn’t stay in place. They are $298 at full retail, but often on sale for $175-$200. I’d be curious about what’s inside…
I really like that thumbnail it gives me a good laugh
Thanks !
Yay a boot I have been suggesting.
Would love to see you cut a Paraboot Michael or a Yuketen boot for Moctober!
The Red Wing “1930s Sport Boot” (8075/8076) was a solid Alden Indy alternative, with the kind of construction you would expect from their heritage boots. Too bad it was a single-season release limited to the Asia-Pacific market….
Have you guys done a video on leather jackets? Seems like it could be interesting to compare jackets and boots/shoes
This year you need to do the new TIMBERLAND Newmarket II Moc Toe!
Preferably the full-grain ones.
Another great video
Not sure if it's been covered but I've considered getting (but never bought) JCrew's Kenton Pacer boots. They're retailed at $300, but sometimes have gone down to $150 on sale.
It looks like an Indy alternative with a GYW and pull up leather. Would be interested to see if the boot can hold up.
I've had a pair for about a year now, put several hundred miles on them, and they've held up really well for me! Pretty good comfort out of the box, break in wasn't too bad, I just recommend thick socks. The mini lug sole is fantastic for traction, but they aren't so aggressive looking. I wear them several times a week in an office setting with jacket and tie (business casual) and they fit in perfectly well. I can happily report that in regular commuting and day-to-day activity, they hold up through Chicagoland winter. No leaks from snow or slush, no terrible damage from salt and winter grime when wiped off after you get where you're going. The only maintenance I have done/do is put shoe trees in when I'm not wearing them, and once every few months I wipe them fully clean and apply VSC. I got them on sale for about $200, and I'm quite happy with them. That said, they're also my first pair of goodyear welted boots, so idk what I'm talking about! Hopefully @RoseAnvil will do a review during Moctoeber!
I recently ordered the Trench boots from Warfield & Grand which is another sub-$200 Indy clone. Could be worth comparing to these.
Do Dievier. I've been very satisfied with my waxed suede cognac, but I really want the green Crazy Horse leather.
I really like my Meermin Spilt toe boots got them on a sale for $115.
Thanks for doing this one! I requested this a little while ago. Their jackets are actually really nice, but I was suspicious of the boots -- looks like that was well founded.
Banana Republic Jaxon is the Alden alternative I’d love to see you cut!
Please do Sorel Carson Moc boots I just got the waterproof ones.
I'd like to see the Parkhurst Niagara boot in the Weathered Henna cut open.
I've never cared about style as much as craftsmanship, quality and durability. Your videos help a lot with sifting out the glamour vs the pieces they wish to emulate.
Have you done any Rancourt stuff yet? They have genuine hand-sewn moc toes, and seem to be really good quality at reasonable prices.
I’ve been getting A LOT of ads from this new brand Portland leather and I’m not too sure what to think about them. You should review them
I’d like to see what type think of the Magnoli Clothiers adventure boot either the ready made or the custom ones
Oh do you also review the Magnoli Clothiers Adventure Boot? I considered this Boot as a serious alternative
They’re good looking and would be decent for an affordable rotation fashion boot. I have a pair of J. Crew’s Kent moc toe boot. They have Goodyear Welted construction. Got them for less than $100 (preowned). Retail new was $295. Definitely not a quality boot but a good share
I'd love to see a breakdown of this boot. I've had mine for about a year now, and it's been fantastic. Served me well at a job where I was regularly walking between 8 and 14 miles a day on tile floors, it's served me fine on casual hikes shorter than 2 miles, and they dress up nice enough that I can wear them to my office job now with a jacket and tie. For about $200, that's a lot of value for me and they've performed just fine every way I've asked them to, but I just don't have the experience, wallet, or opportunity to compare them to much else. Especially compared to any of the Indy type boots. They seemed like the best option I could afford, you know?
I like J Crew Kenton boots sometimes I like Allen Edmonds too
Parkhurst seems to be the best alternative so far
Would really like to seea discussion of the Red Wing Blacksmith.
Claude wallets are great! I have several of them.
they are not for hiking, they are for staring at yourself in the mirror. GREAT VIDEO ! I am getting them cuz I need to stare at myself in the mirror. im sure I will walk in them eventually.
Cut apart some mid tier moc toe work boots. Possibly the irish setter wingshooters. My shop is filled with that boot.
Russell moccasin next please! Iron Snail did a vid on hiking in them and the famous veteran that wore them but it would be nice to see what it looks like cut!
Rose please review the Taft 9 yo 5 series of boots
Best Moc Toe of 2023 so far!
I was wondering if you'd ever do a work boot breakdown like between ariat, Justin's, Wolverine, and brands similar.
could you do a ranking for heritage hiking boots/hunting boots?
Rose Anvil Guitar Straps would be awesome!!! 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
Hey bud, please do the JCrew Kenton Pacers. Curious how these stack up next to the Alden Indy’s.
I am still waiting for Allen Edmonds!!! I have a few of thier boots and shoes. I would want you to cut them in half and show other US based compaines.
Guess I will wait for another year or 2 till you get around to them :)
I'd be interested to see your review on the new Allen Edmonds Dallas roper boots. They look great, but can we expect a dress shoe company to make good boots?
How about a look at Quoddy grizzly boots? Made to order in Maine.
