Martin Luther King Jr., a black pastor, was very vocal about being against violence. There has been a lack of reflection on him the last 10 years from Americans.
Everyone likes to say that but they rarely talk about how angry he was at the system and how tempted he was to show that anger. They taught us to be nonviolent like him after he was dead because nonviolence serves the ones in charge. The state, whoever it is running it, seeks to monopolize the right to use violence.
