Elliot’s voice is so natural and easy sounding and the mix makes it sound like he’s right over your shoulder. Like he’s singing right to you.
That's exactly right. In this version, Elliott's vocal is overdubbed in different speakers, so you basically get two of him singing together, in stereo, which is a beautiful choral effect. It's just the opposite of the version on New Moon, where the instrumental is great but the vocals sound a bit thin and distant to me.
Oh my, this version is so beautiful. Could listen to it every day.

I love how clear and clean his vocals are in this version. It has the effect of a lullaby if that makes sense. So pretty and so sad, I love this man.

I think I hear "waiting to like" instead of "light" might be only on this version tho
So difficult to play these melodies and bass notes while sounding tje first few strings in time

The way he says it is so fucking haunting, it’s almost like a cry out in frustration, angry at whoever didn’t heed his warning. This version will always be leagues better than the mix on New Moon.
i like most of this version better, but the higher production of the blow through the coast part(the best part) makes it more impactful on the released version.

it's the sound of the actual tape hitting the take-up reel on a reel-to-reel recorder. when the take-up reel is too low or too high (i.e. not aligned perfectly with the tape heads and supply reel), the tape rubs against the take-up reel with each rotation, making that sound. hope that helps!

@@hessehessen4334 Nowhere Man, Across the Universe and Norwegian Wood come to mind. More so in the atmospheric feel, a little in subject and sheer poetic elegance. The vocal (overlay?) in Nowhere Man with a slight delay stands out to me.
The double tracked vocal is awesome.
i don't hear it at all in this one. maybe it reminds you of the xmas song? though in that case flowers for charlie has a lot more john lennon all over it.
