Actually, I like the idea of a Spider-Man Red, like it is just the memories running through Peter and Mary Janes head while they hold each other for One More Day. Courting, dancing, vacations, cute suprises, some writers and artists could make that an amazing wordless issue, maybe with the last page Mephisto cackling as Peter and MJ walk away from each other. If it was done well it would tear my heart apart, and I would buy the hell out of it!
There kinda is a Spiderman Red, I think it's called Parallel Lives. It's a pretty good read.

@@sinjinbaker6031 Yeah, that one. Right? It's so weird, it's a pretty good story but very few people talk about it. I myself only found out about it in an article ranking the best Spider-Man + MJ stories, and that came up near the top. Definitely deserves way more recognition.

We actually got that was a Spider-Man/Mary Jane you just hit the jackpot compilation paperback.
The ending with MJ and Pete brought me to tears when I read that one, serious tears actually. But I read a ton of Marvel Tales books when I was a kid so I always liked Gwen and MJ both .

Ironic how even after her death Gwen has a legacy that continues to last through the ages. Even with something as horrible as Sins Past, people still remember her from that era and celebrate her, despite never being resurrected in the main timeline. If anything, her death immortalized her in ways that very few could achieve.
I’m very glad that Marvel uses a sliding timescale. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t have this legacy of a lost love for Spider-Man. I could do without all the clones of her though. It’s just trauma bait.

Just because it was undone doesn't mean batman's journey was for nothing. Batman still went through hell to get over it and gained something from it.

Jason Todd is the only character in years I'm happy about how DC brought back.
Agreed, am sick of this idea that if a death is undone it automatically means all the stakes and development is gone.
While yes many of the times when that happens in the comics it does cheapen the story, what people fail to notice is that sometimes bringing a dead character back could bring back as much demension and development to the character as much as it does killing them off.

Love the discussion on dating habits in the 60s. Had that same conversation with my dad at 18. The concept of dating more than one woman without serious consequence at a time seems insane now. Apparently, the worst that could happen then was getting the reputation as being a "Good Time Charlie."

My favorite way they deal with the Peter/Gwen/MJ thing was in Universe X. Where Peter gets to make his own illusion universe, and he's married to Gwen and MJ marries Harry. The idea being that not that Peter doesn't love MJ, it's that he will always feel responsible for killing Gwen (since his webbings technically snapped her neck). And MJ (he feels) deserves better than him because of that.

That Archie tangent was a high point. I would watch a whole Archie episode, and I don't know those characters at all.

btw, I think House of M Peter being married to Gwen has more to do with "Gwen never died" than "Gwen is better than MJ" MJ is his true love now but if Gwen was alive they never would've gotten together. Well, probably.

Absolutely hysterical episode! The Batman bit had me in tears!
I always find myself coming back to this episode of Back Issues. Spider-Man Blue is my favorite Spider-Man story of all time, and while I've reread it many times, I always do it with a bit of melancholy. It is only when I see Sal explain it so masterfully that I am reminded of how fun this book can be as well. Happy Valentines to everyone feeling a little bit blue.

Sal, just wondering, but have you seen the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood? I have the same issues with the comics that you do, but I thought the film was fantastic. I thought they fixed a lot of the issues with the comics, and I liked how they illustrated it more as Batman's greatest failure coming back to haunt him. Like, what's worse than Batman failing to save Jason Todd? It's Jason Todd returning as everything Batman stands against. But he's not a one dimensional villain or anti hero in the film, Jason sees himself as a better Batman. He believes that crime can't be stopped, you have to control it. That's what I like about Jason in the film, he has point. It goes deeper than just the argument as to why Batman should or should not kill. Anyway, great show, and I'd love to here your thoughts (btw, hoping for a back issues of Batman: Endgame sometime soon :D)

Years later and I still agree with you man. I feel like the resurrection of Jason Todd should add more to the whole “greatest failure” aspect of Batman and the movie does it so well. I just tell people to watch the movie than read the comic for it.

So, that ending you guys did was awesome. You just went through my exact thoughts about the rhino suit. Except the part about Sandman. I always thought that Rhino's goons or the cops had to squeeze the suit to empty him. Or Galactus would treat him like a grape between his fingers. Splat.

I was really drawn to the art in this one. Tim Sale was amazing here. And it had a great story by Jeph Loeb to compliment it with. Really glad I got the chance to get a hardbound copy of this story.

I think Gwen is his true love. If he wanted Gwen to not die his desires would've been for her to not die but he still be with Mary Jane....obviously that didn't happen....so it kinda tells me that he loved Gwen more
Captain Spider-Man mj beats gwen by a huge margin she just died
Gwen's death pretty much marred him for love. He and Gwen were on a course to marriage, when she died it ripped apart his first really meaningful romance and it also kind of ended his more innocent years (the college years had the best conflict while Peter could still have untarnished happiness). He can love Mary Jane too but the fact that Gwen's death happened will always be the reason he ended up with MJ. (In the comics that is) If Gwen never died Mary Jane may never have been more willing to share her vulnerability with Peter, if you look at how she was prior to Gwen dying Peter didn't really like or care for Mary Jane much.

I don't think MJ and Peter have like an open relationship, its more like they go on one date(which is more like a meet and greet set up by there aunts) and then peter doesn't pursue it cause he's into Gwen so MJ doesn't try to be clingy but still wants him and goes after him by going on a "date" with Harry basically to make Peter Jealous

I can't stop thinking about how much I like the concept they briefly stumbled on and barely touched upon where _Kraven The Hunter_ gets his moniker and/or status, not only as a Supervillain in general, but especially as _"The Hunter"_ by- sure, being a real life Big Game and Sports Hunter... But mainly by coming on to the scene and first taking on all of the main Animal Themed Spider-Villains. Taking down/besting, _Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, Lizard, and Doctor Octopus..._ saving Spider-Man himself as the big Final Game/Main Event- of course, losing... But having his Legend grow and gaining the title of _"The Hunter"_ because he DID, after all, defeat most of Spider-man's more powerful Rogues. It's REALLY cool for _Kraven_ and would help make him cool(a rarity for Kraven) in a VERY light Retcon of his first battles with Spidey, and at the same time would show how badass Peter is as he ultimately beat him... I don't know. The idea is kinda blowing my mind.
