On April 1, 2023, the Center for Black Literature presented "Black Speculative Fiction's Impact on Popular Culture" as a part of the National Black Writers Conference. Speakers included Tim Fielder and Christine Taylor-Butler. The moderator was Jarvis Sheffield and the discussion was moderated by the Black Science Fiction Society.
