To start our Christmas adventure the day before American thanksgiving, we’re flying from Dallas, Texas to Zurich, Switzerland where we’re taking trains to the cities of Basel, Colmar, Strasbourg, Frankfurt, and Cologne before coming back to Zurich and flying home in time for Christmas.

How is the food/drink vendor numbers compared to vendors selling items? I did Heidelberg's Xmas market last weekend and it was mostly food and the few shop vendors they had repeated so there really weren't many. It was a good... just we are trying to pick another xmas market that has more shopping and was wondering about Strasbourg.
Strasbourg had more shopping stalls than most of the places we’ve visited! Especially around the Cathedral and Place Broglie. We went to Frankfurt after Strasbourg and felt like it was much more food than anything. We just finished exploring Cologne today and they had a great mix of both!
@@AndrewandKait Yeah friends told us Frankfurt is very food/drink heavy. Thanks. We will head Strasbourg next week.
Better to avoid the week that EU parliament sits in Strasbourg, hotel rates go up. You haven’t missed much by not seeing the parliament building, the centre of town is far more interesting. Loved the huge Christmas tree.

Yes they do accept credit cards on most purchases over 10 EURO, but we would suggest keeping cash on you for single smaller purchases like drinks and food it's generally better for the vendor to receive cash when possible for smaller purchases. I plan to go to Strasbourg next summer. Would 1 day be enough?
Probably so! As long as you have a full day, you should be fine. There’s a lot to see, but maybe if you rent a bike or take the trams, you should be able to see a lot!

Don't know if you visited, but one day is definitely not enough (I live there). Unless you just want to see the cathedral and the center, but there is way more to see
We were there in 2021. COVID rules dampened a bit, but still worth it. Better markets than Paris, hands down. Also visited Prague and Munich but both had markets shut down. Still a great trip and visiting Christmas markets should be on any holiday fanatics list.

It was nice and easy! It was only about an hour ride from Colmar

It would have been helpful to have said the prices of things.
We agree, but as prices change year to year (and even market stall to market stall) and CZcams videos live on for years, we didn’t want to focus on what would be changing numbers!

I really loved it the first few years as well, but once you realize it's the same cabins in the same place with the same people, it loses its magic.
