  • Home of Atalaya Castle, this SC State Park was a nice stop on the way back to Florida. It can be found along the Atlantic Ocean and there is much to see there. There's the former Huntington mansion itself, the beach, and even some hiking trails that lead to ponds full of birds. The shore also had birds to offer, and if you make it all the way out to the Murrells Inlet Jetty, you might find a mink. This was probably the real attraction for me, and we were lucky enough to reach the jetty at sunset, finding minks coming and going across the rocks. It was great!
Other than mink and birds(one was a Virginia Rail), I was able to film alligators and turtles.
    Worth the stop.
    Worth the trip.

Castle with swans in the lagoon. Minks running around during a beach sunset. Such a memorable location.

So interesting and great music! I love how the lighting is different over there on the Atlantic Coast compared to the Gulf. The mink was awesome - I used to live near a mink farm 😢. One of them escaped and came to live with us for awhile. He loved to eat shrimp and roll around in the snow!

I never really thought about the light. That's neat! The mink farm is sad but having one hanging around the house would be amazing!

Yeah, I don't know if its common for them to hang out around jetties, but once I found they were there, I had to go!
