      It's unfortunate that 70's ignition systems fail when the bikes get to about 290°
      That be operating temprature of air cooled motors .
      We have 2 ke " F-6" series bikes .
      Aftermarket 12 volt electronic ignition fixed the problem .
      The second one we got we completely rebuilt and the same exact problem still persisted . the only thing to get these old bikes reliable is to convert the old ignition systems... The have seen too many heat cycles and are old .
      They fail at temp .
      The other problem is thes bikes are jetted for the gas crisis .
      If you modify the exhaust system they run lean and hot which exacerbates the ignition problems .
      Just with the baffle and packing out she needed a 110 main jet .factory is 98 ...
      The packing and baffle in these things is a back pressure power stealing gas saving econo bike made to putt round on no gas.....
      Jets , ignition system, pull that packing and baffle sleeve .
      Bike will keep up with a 1983 rm 125 .
      The f series bikes just need a lot of love and about a 500$ aftermarket cdi ignition system....
      I wouldn't suggest getting into a rebuild of any kind of 70's bike without looking for parts first . like the ignition system.
      Like the points and coils . that's just the way that heat cycles and age is . oh and the fact that that teck has been replaced and not manufactured for 30 something years .
      Up date and up grade .if that can't be done ... Good luck .
      We are 2 for two on bad ignitio systems on those ke's .... One had 800 original miles the other has 2700 original miles.
      Both ingnitions failed at temp..
      The upgrade aftermarket ignition is great.
      No more trouble .

      @@2strokeguru I figured as much.
      The 6 volt systems are the Achilles heel of those bikes .
      I gave you the link for tbe conversation kits . I'm not sure how many models they fit.but they are made to order .
      These 70's bikes are great . but they are a basket of parts when the ingnition systems fail. And they will and do fail .even when the bikes have low miles .
      I can attest to that. I had a one owner 800 original miles .wich is factor break in miles .says so on the odomiter sticker tbat is still on the gauges . and yes when it got hot it lost resistance and the spark fails ! .new cdi 12volt no more trouble. Runs better than the one I had when i was a kid in 1979.

    You are constantly talking of Philips screws. As far as I know those Japanese bikes are fitted with JIS screws and they can easily be destroyed if they are not tightened with a proper JIS screwdriver.
    Again it's details (among others) but I still thank you so much for making those great videos

    I bought a ts125, the engine was a fresh rebuild, used it like three months and the first ring got caught in the exhaust port destroying the top of the piston, I took it apart, send the cylinder and a new piston to the machine shop, go it back, and after five minutes of the first start the same thing happened again, do you have any idea of wath can cause that? The piston was pointed in the right way an all, ended up getting a new cylinder and now got a spare one that have something bad in it

      If the pin falls out and the ring move problems will happen

    What other oil can be put on the piston head when putting it back on?

      You can honestly use any oil sometimes I use engine oil sometimes stright 2 stroke oil you just don't want dry piston dry cylinder

      It's assembly lube you can use 2stroke oil
