Heh, that's come up in the CW4 community discord etc. a few times. Of course, I don't know Baron well enough to know whether he legitimately didn't know, or whether it was intentional on some level to stir up controversy. The tower energy issue simply refuses to go away, one way or another.

There are a number of different ways to control multiple units, I suggest familiarizing yourself with the game's settings keybinds. To get all of any unit type on the map, Ctrl-A.

How are you placing a line of towers at a time?

It's been long enough since I played CW4 that I don't remember the hotkey for sure; I want to say Ctrl perhaps? They are all listed in the game though, I recommend checking the key binds as there are some useful tools in there you may not be aware of, formation move, selection hotkeys, etc.
