This has to be the best demonstration of Funakoshi's 9 throws I have ever seen. Thank you sensei!

That would be a Demo. Choreography is for a dance

@@moehoward8691 [WIKI] Choreography is the art or practice of designing sequences of movements of physical bodies (or their depictions) in which motion or form or both are specified.
--> this demonstration is a choreography, moreover there is no improvisation at all !

Nobody attacks anyone like this in the real world. This is why trad. karate doesn't work for real self defense anymore. Only high level black belts (2-5 Dan) can actually defend themselves. And even some of them are suspect...anymore.

Search for Samir Berardo. Maybe you change your mind

@@odojodecriatividade No, I won't change my mind. I'm a 3rd Dan in Shotokan ( late 80s, ISKF). I was also a bouncer in college. A good street fighter will normally wipe the floor with a Shodan. I know from experience. I couldn't really defend myself until I started actually training for self defense....NOT KUMITE! And today's "traditional" styles don't teach actual self defense anymore.

You are quite right. Karate is no more at the top for self defense. In most of schools, we loosed the idea and technics, and didn t adapt to modern days threats.
What most people forget, is that Gichin Funakoshi wanted to make education karate, like one of his master Itosu Anko. It was the goal. And then sport karate made his apparition too.
What we see here is a good exercice, well done, in that spirit.
It allows the guys there to understand some principles of throws.
But some people, once that exercice mastered, thinks after that there are experts on throws and self defense, and here is the big mistake.
If people were more aware of what they realy practice, and the limitations, it would be a great help for karatekas and karate broadly speaking.
      Best regards!
