The shape of the helmet K6-3 (staff notation - 6B6-3, k6-3 - the commercial name of the helmet) copies the entire helmet Altyn, as both used for the production of a stamp-molding. In the picture you can see that the helmet webbing identical. According to official information, the manufacturer of the helmet - NII Stali, a year of development and production is to start in 2002, but from informal conversations with representatives of the Research Institute of his appearance K6-3 shall means a change in market conditions since the beginning of armor 90s.

I have a full Sfera and a couple of titanium plates from Модуль-5М in ATL ;)
Tested plates. They are pretty impressive. A bit heavy, but considering that from 50 yards a steel core M-43 left only a mild dent on it, I can deal with the weight...
Need to get a nice carrier for the plates though.
Sfera is very heavy indeed. I don't doubt it will hold SVD round, but due central plate being a bit too long, average dude's neck will get shattered by it if bluntly hit in the head by anything larger than a .380

It was kinda alright at the beginning, but once the second DLC rolled around to feature more unrealistic characters with abilities that completely subverted the original operators in every way, I knew it would be downhill from there. My expectations were low but not low enough for what would come next after every new season. That game died for me a long time ago.

After maverick it got worse and worse.
For example: Amaru, she is just an archaeologist that yeets itself to the building. ( and ubi nerfed ash because of rushing bruh)

@@Daybreaker7826 I haven't been following the new operators. And I can only dread what they are and what their abilities are. I knew R6S was over the moment they gave Hibana a thermite grenade launcher. Blasting a bigger hole in shorter time than Thermite. Once we got chicks with green hair and yoga pants I knew the future of R6S would follow futuristic tacticool 'hero' characters with personal backstories than any remotely realistic operators with only technical interests and skillsets in their bios.
Sphere had one very, very big design flaw. It was very large and it was pretty easy to forget, that top or side of your helmet is out of cover. And when bullet hits your helmet - even if your head is not in the way, bullet still can ricochet into your head from inside.
Based off my teachers experience as a military medic during set period of time.
For real? Most comments I've read about the Sphera is that they offered AWESOME protection (for its time and for the kind of weapons the Chechen Rebels got their hands on, obviously), but there was only one major flaw and it was that it interferes with the soldier's hearing

@Ornate Orator it is tactical, though. A huge amount time and effort goes into planning and getting you and your team into a favorable position. The only two places that have high octane energy are casual and pro league. Casual is that way because nothing actually matters. Pro league is that way because if the head meta, and is not a point of reference for the actual experience, as less than 1% of the population will ever play pro league.
As for realism, meh. Not many games are at all.
Because of damn video games the prices for altyns and other helmets usually shown in games the prices seem to have skyrocketed

1. It's a CoD clone trying so desperately to be counter-strike.
2. The character design is insanely unrealistic for the most part.
3. The abilities increasingly got dumber and more unrealistic over time. We went from specialized breaching tools to fucking magnets attracting grenades.
4. The devs only give a shit about appealing to the pro league.
5. It's an absolute ripoff to spend nearly 1k hours grinding to get every character if you don't feel like coughing up even more money.
6. The community is full of sensitive crybabies and redditors and the global chat got removed as a result.
7. Literally the only way to win is rush in blindly or exploit the game.
8. Character design also gradually got worse and none of them look even remotely close to being a trained operative because reasonably realistic characters are "too generic", yet Overwatch/Fortnite tier colorful uniforms aren't.
9. Porn bait female character design.
10. Limited time events with bullshit cosmetics.
11. They took out night maps because crybabies whined nonstop about how it was "too dark" or "fucked the noise up", but also because of "data limits"
12. Backstories and bios went from being believable to outright cringe fanfiction levels.
13. Casual is full of griefers and ranked is full of cheaters.
14. You would randomly lose connection to the servers.
15. Uplay is required.
16. PvE was left for dead day 1 and then neutered multiple times.
17. Loot boxes galore.
18. No movement penalties.
19. Shitty weapon skins and uniforms.
20. The game runs like total shit.
21. The engine wasn't built for FPS games.
22. The lighting is total fucking garbage.
23. The existence of Ela.
24. The existence of Lion.
25. The fact this shitty game has the misfortune of bearing Tom Clancy's name.

Erm as far as i know Titanium Sphere was made first and they replaced it with steel version after steel were again widely aviable on the russian market. I own both of those versions. As for suspension, it's like tank crew helmet- thick padding under the plates, similar to gray padding used in American helmets today, but being one with the cover instead of holding on velcro. Actually hilarious thing about sphere, due to 3 plates moving to limited degree, you can actully put regular Active Peltor headset in it with some struggle. Another thing, if you are mad or an ork, you can join several helmets in one, due to it being separate plates, making it several leyers of 3mm titanium, or even combine it with steel version.
i honestly quite like mine. im pretty sure its a Ukrainian copy as they also used them.

@@Oxide_does_his_best Interesting thing about those helmets: the cover holding the plates usually have very random colours, from green to even blueish-orange, as for the plastic piece that goes on your jaw, there are also different colours, titanium one came with white one and steel one came with black one. I don't think they were any different sizes created, as the construction of the helmet 'fits all'. Also this modularity allows to replace only damaged part of the helmet without having to replace all plates. I know there was version of sphere made from 4 plates instead of 3 (i think ukrainian version) and i heard some rumors about there being composite one too.
@@swirekster the standard Ukrainian one is just a copy of the Russian one with a different material and made of steel.
@@staylor8385 also titanium plates are raw, without paint on it and serial numbers are engraved on all plates, while steel ones are covered in green army paint and number is painted too. I legit killed a lvl 3 in factory the other day, he had a fcking Altyn and that horrible UN bright blue body armor. He had a super modded AK74 in his backpack and yet he was fighting me with a pistol. Instead of extracting, no, he deadass decided to go into the factory and fight. 4:40 Sphera (sphere) helmets are the other way around - titanium variant was over a decade earlier.
Sphera (1981) is officially called STSh-81 (СТШ-81, stands for Специальный Титановый Шлем - Special Titanium helmet), and Sphera-S (1994) is SSSh-94 (ССШ-94, Специальный Стальной Шлем, or Special Steel Helmet)

Lol I see my own helmets at 3:22 and 3:34. And the pic of the Sfera at the bottomleft at 4:57 was probably saved from Stig's sale-thread long ago, I bought that one.
Also, The Maska-1 was the type with "glass" visor and was first, then came the 1Sh with the steel slit visor, and some older ones were "upgraded" to the new visor by putting the steel plate over the big hole where the old "glass" was. And Maska's were actually used well into the 00's.
And, that Skif helmet with the camo visorcover looks absolutely glorious! But probably still doesn't protect all that well.

AWESOME video, I was waiting for something like this for so long since I see the stupidity in Rainbow Six Siege every day, with Russian ops wearing Chechen War gear and being a decade behind. When I first started playing I tried to educate my friends that the gear the Russian ops were using were mostly outdated, but they refused to listen and said it'll even more authentic if they were given Adidas pants and tracksuits. So now, I finally have a video from a credible source that Ubisoft is bullshitting us, but then again, it's just a game, although it wouldn't hurt to have some general knowledge and background on the gear and the men who used them, right?

Good luck. The ak forums has some AK-12 stuff for sale(not cheap either), but I question the legality of importing modern Russian equipment. It wouldn't be a true AK-12 in the US anyways. Just a semi auto clone of one. I'm more interested in the new magazines that come with these guns. Also, if anyone can find me a 60 round coffin magazine like what is in escape from tarkov, I'd love to buy one.

Any info on the source of that raid video at the end? The white armbands were a very interesting choice. Id assume in case one of the Ts had purchased their gear to blend in random colors would be added.
Sometimes you can find interviews with operators of FSB or MVD where they tell that heavy assault helmets give chance for ricochet by 5.45 or didn't penetrate through high part of dome. Veter, for example, told about it.

You should do a video on late soviet/ early russian counter terror uniforms and equipment, I'm trying to research it myself but it's so hard to find out everything, and I mean I'm a nerd so I want my kit to be proper even though it's just for airsoft, I'm going for an FSB style load out, I have a rys t replica but I'm working on getting an altyn, what vests and uniforms would be proper ? I got a couple noch 91m uniforms lined up but aren't those just for СОБР and ОМОН?

Truly, there are tons of info in russian and Ukrainian part of CZcams. Those helmets are fun, I used to wear 5 types of those, and we have also tested them for penetration. They are not really same as nij 3, they are lower, but still will protect the head, not the neck
