ULTIMATE Mobile Workshop - PART 2 - V-Nose Workbench / Power Tool Cabinet

  • How to build a simple wall mounted workbench and cabinets for power tools. The V-nose of the Ultimate Mobile Workshop is going to serve as my main workbench. I used 2x4s and plywood to make a simple counter top and covered the wall in 1/2" plywood to organize my hand tool holders.
    The power tool cabinet above each of the two-way drawers uses grooves in plywood to allow you to fit any size tool you want. Simply move the dividers around to change the slot size from 4 inches up to 24 inches.

    You actually make very enjoyable videos Mike. I appreciate the "warts and all" construction process. I'm not a professional wood worker. Far from it. But sharing your decision making and mistakes brings a sort of "friendly" feel to your channel. Thanks for sharing. 😀👍

    You should make the front piece for the upper cabinets on a piano hinge so it holds the tools while traveling and folds open while working.

    Very efficient. I built a sliding platform that extended out of my van with equipment that would swing out on attached pivoted panels. I would slide in a leg support to the swing out for any equipment needed for the job. Everything would be visible and within reach at the same time.

    Is that 1/4" plywood lip on the shelf going to be the only thing holding those tools in while traveling? Or will there be a door? I've traveled around the country in a motorhome and know from experience that potholes, ripples in the road, etc. can through items around something but good! As it is in this video, those tools will jump right out of there with some good sized road imperfections. -- just a heads up : )
    Great video - thumbs up!

    I like how you say, learn sketch up so you can work through problems in the virtual world but then still have problems ,locks on bandsaw cabinet, upper tool cubby shelf depth,...however I must say when it's done it looks nice and I greatly appreciate your anal retentive attension to detail. looks awesome, where are you located with such expensive plywood and where is the Festool?

    THIS IS A QUESTION ABOUT YOUR RV. HOW TROUBLE FREE HAS THE 1999 DYNASTY BEEN. I'VE DECIDED TO DO THE SAME HIGHER END LUXURY COACH LIKE A NEWMAR MOUNTAIN AIRE OR AN OLDER BAYSTAR OR SCOTTSDALE. IVE SEEN QUITE A FEW SOUTHWINDS OUT THERE THAT ARE IN INCREDIBLE SHAPE FOR UNDER $35K. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW WELL YOUR COACH HAS FAIRED SINCE YOUR PURCHASE. ITS STILL A SCARY PURCHASE WHEN IT'S GOING TO BE MY HOME FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS MINIMUM. THANK YOU. I LIKE YOUR CHANNEL.

  • @bthackne

    Why so stringent on using the birch? Surely a sheet of oak or dare I suggest pine are a lot cheaper and provide the same functionality for those cabinets no? Also... it's October 24th so I'm assuming the RV is departing Florida and is on it's way to whoever got chosen. Looks like I was not selected so maybe I'll get in on next round.

    • @MikeAndLaurenTV
      @MikeAndLaurenTV  Před 7 lety

      In our area, birch is a good compromise on cost and quality. We only have construction grade pine and oak would cost well over $100 per sheet.
      And yes, the RV has left Florida! We loved the outdoor shower idea, but sadly our route ended up not quite taking us that far north. We will hopefully be going farther up the east coast sometime next year, so maybe we'll see you then!

    Jesus man.... that way toom much for import. Go with Sanded Ply... 30$ 3/4inch sheet at Depot :) As long as you joint the ends correctly.. no issues. All that i use because there is no place local here that sell the good stuff... and Im not gonna order wood. I see damage on the merch.
    BUT!!! That looks amazing none the less man... amazing job
