This was awesome! Many thanks. It answered a lot of questions for me. Back in my teen years I read the original four part miniseries on Rocket and Halfwirld and loved it. I stopped following comics but was always sad that they hadn't continued the story, it was really creative and fun, bot your usual superhero stuff. Thanks for filling in the blanks!
I think my favorite sentence in this wonderfully impressive video is --

At least give Rocket his own Disney + mini series . He’s so interesting.

I would love an animated adaptation of the og rocket mini series. The setting of Halfworld and the plot is so imaginative and delightfully bonkers. Plus the art by Mike Minolga is beautiful. I would love to see it in motion one day.

This was good but it bugs me as well. I had that issue of The Incredible Hulk that had Rocket Raccoon. It looks like the writers following this issue decided to a retcon which I do not totally agree with.

The Queen of a far off alein planet's daughter, the Princess Ilse Pterigil, has been in a coma ever since she was struck in the eyes by a laser beam. the Princess was the Star-Thief, who has been subconsciously making the stars disappear because their light reminded her of the laser that blinded her and made her afraid during this time her mind reached out across time and space connecting to certain individuals (likely those with inhuman genes that gave them telepathy but also with weak minds, and also possibly wanted the stars to go away too) like Ditmal Privat, or Barry Bauman who were both given a portion of the star-theifs powers to steal the stars and make the stars go away

i personally liked it, especially the aspect of his family not being able to communicate with him, it just felt so depressing but just right. Atleast it made more sense with how he finds the guardians as his family, although it could use a little tinkering

I agree as interesting as this backstory is for Rocket. The classic ableism is a bit much. I get that it was the 80s but it just would been eaier to have be a group of average humanoid colonist, there robots, and the animals they brought with them. The world itself being unfamiliar territory could and in some way evole the animals to hyperintelligence along with the robot. Still making the half world.
