Aladdin is a lovable street urchin who meets Princess Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. While visiting her exotic palace, Aladdin stumbles upon a magic oil lamp that unleashes a powerful, wisecracking, larger-than-life genie. Funly not so fun fact: Will Smith actually turned down the role at first because he felt like he was going to let Robin Williams down, until Robins wife told him to go for it.
Only, he made the character of the Genie his own and not a carbon copy, which was a good thing.

I don't care what people say or think, but in my opinion Aladdin's Live action film is one of the best live action recreations I've seen, hands down...I just love the addition of speechless, Dalia and the fact that they made the Genie tell the story....

I agree. Personally, I didn't see the original until High School, and it was so hyped up for me that I left it extremely underwhelmed. This version delivered everything that I had expected from the original and more, I absolutely love it.
@@ruarikelsey1793 Speechless is an amazing song because it shows women empowerment and it fits so perfect with Jasmine, in the og Jasmine was already an empowerful women "I am not a prize to be won" in this they just made Jasmine more than a princess who was being forced to marry, they made her wanting to be the sultan and rule her people because they show how much she cares about her kingdom and the people and she is ready to fight for them and ready to stand up for her rights, and its reality, in those times even more in arabia, women are silenced and do not have a voice to speak up for themselves, so the song was perfect though of course this movie was forbidden in arabia because of the song( guess they didn't wanted young girls and women being empowerful and standing up for themselves)
I enjoyed this version. I like that Will Smith didn’t try to copy Robin Williams genie. He was real respectful to Robins Genie. If you watch the scene where they’re talking about wishes and Aladdin starts talking about Jasmine the carpet is building Cinderellas castle from the Disney movie openings and even throws sand over it like the Disney movie opening. I think the Genie does a lot for Aladdin without making a wish cause it was nice to have a master that didn’t treat him like a slave.
I expected to dislike the movie, considering that trailer that showed the first look at Genie was so laughably bad. But I honestly liked the movie so much. It was honestly such a fun and enjoyable movie, the cast was perfect (with the exception of Jafar) and Will Smith had a unique and great original take on the Genie character.

OG Aladdin isn’t good compared to this one. Robin Williams genie is overrated cause he died. The singing here is better, jasmine is better just everything is better except jafar

@@user-sl1wt4zc7n The Entire Genie Character worked because He was designed after Robin Williams, He is literally Robin Williams as a Cartoon also The Og is incredible great animation,Great song,Great Pacing, Great Villain Jafar who sucks in the remake. Will only worked because he was different and I guess you could argue Jasmine is better but Aladdin, Jafar and the pacing and Energy of the Original is better
I remember adoring every second of the film when it was released
I watched this in the cinema in 2019. Out of the entire movie, Speechless was the only vivid memory I had of it until it came out on Disney+.

It’s funny how at the time, Aladdin was the remake I was the least excited for, but turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Meanwhile, The Lion King was the one I was the most excited for, but turned out to be a colossal disappointment
I’m sure that Gilbert Gottfried, the OG voice of Iago(may he Rest In Peace), would’ve been a great addition to the 2019 cast. Sad that he didn’t get to reprise his role as the parrot, but Alan Tudyk was a fine choice as Iago’s voice.
This remake was actually enjoyable for me. Will Smith did his own great take on Genie (no one can ever be as good as Robin Williams), Aladdin and Jasmine were well cast, the spirit of the story was still there and Jasmine's new song Speechless was excellent. I guess Alan Tudyk did a fine Iago voiceover but let's be honest, Gilbert Gottfried was way funnier. My misgivings were the casting and characterization of Jafar, just what even is that? The original Jafar played by Jonathan Freeman is still superior and deliciously evil despite being a voice performance. Also Guy Ritchie's rather stumbling and unbalanced direction, he's done other good films but this one I'm not so sure. Another better Disney remake is the Cinderella one from 2015.

Fun Fact: No one has mentioned this but the director of this movie,Guy Ritchie is one of the best filmmakers of all time, he has make a lot of films such as:The Man From U.N.C.L.E(based on the tv series),King Arthur,Rocknrolla and many more.
I would suggest 2 of his films:Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and finally Snatch(this one has a huge cast) if you want to have some good laughs.
He made Snatch, Lock Stock and two smoking barrels, and decided to direct a poor cgi remake of one of Disneys classics

My mother loved the animated versin of this (we had it on VHS, DVD, etc) and watched it a bunch. When this came out we watched it and loved it. She passed away recently so watching this with you brought tears but, you know, life is hard. 🐾🐾🍻🍻 Thank you so much or sharing.
(At 31:20) he turned Iago into a Roc (a giant massive bird of prey that is so large, they usually snack on elephants)? We went from "Jafar turning into a Giant Cobra" down to his red henchman macaw, voiced by Alan Tudyk, turning into _THIS?!_ not to mention, I'm still pissed off a few months recently the actor who originally played Iago from the classic Aladdin movie and series "Gilbert Gottfried" passed away.
I like both the original and remake of Aladdin. And Mena Massoud did great as Aladdin

Fun Fact: at 26:30, Mena Massoud (Aladdin) originally messed up this line and said something along the lines of “My sultan, heem nom whom heem seem heem is”. The cameras were still rolling and everyone thought it was funny so they kept repeating it instead of saying their lines, including Genie and Jafar. Everyone thought it was so funny that Will Smith actually had t-shirts made that said “heem nom whom heem seem heem is”
Jasmine’s song in this one was brand new, she did not have a solo song in the original one.
I really like this reimagined Disney film! It is perhaps one of my favorites in the library. Will Smith’s version of the Genie is great imo and “Speechless” is my favorite song of the film. Naturally, the animated film is better imo(because I love animated content), but this version is a lot of fun. Thanks for the reaction, Tim!

You should watch Team StarKids' musical parody called Twisted. It is essentially Aladdin told from Jafar's perspective. It is really well done and you may not think about the story of Aladdin exactly the same way again. If you do watch it, though, be warned that there is strong, explicit language and "adult" situations. What they do with the song "A Whole New World" is so bad (meaning naughty) that it's good in a way. I hope you consider it because the reimagined story is good, the acting is good, and the music/songs are really good.
Probably my second favorite remake, behind Cinderella (2015). That remake is the only one I truly love, while the rest I just kind of enjoy. (Except for the Mulan remake. Honestly what even is that movie.)
What about the 101 Dalmatians remake from the 90s. That was the first remake and I enjoyed that movie.

When I saw the notification video that it said "Aladdin Remake is better than......", I thought you would say that it's better than original Aladdin, which obviously it can't be the original superior. Still the remake was entertaining.
Aladdin didn't need to wish for the entourage, parade or dancing because those things come with being a prince.
Way better? It was superrr epic! It was a $1B+ MONEY MAKER blockbuster at the box-office. The movie was generally well received.
My favorite number was definitely “prince Ali” I just loved the things Will provided to it as well as the overall arrangement

Doug Walker said it best in his review "The whole film should have just been like the credits showed: a full on Bollywood musical with no cg genies, no awkward editing and people looking like they were having a good time."
Also whoever thought having a giant parrot instead of a giant snake would make for a better climax is an idiot.
To Doug's words, I would also add that the entourage itself needs to be changed from the Far East to Bollywood.

That idiot being attacked by Raja, Jasmine’s tiger, was 1 of my fav scenes of this movie. Will played a great genie too, dropped some good lines. For example, Aladdin was all: “Look the sultan likes me.” And Will said “maybe he’ll let you be his wife.” That was hilarious. And whoever played jafar didn’t do too bad

@@TimotheeReacts In my and many others' opinion, the new Lion King movie went a bit too far with wanting to be realistic and look like a nature documentary, so the animals have very little expressions. The Jungle Book live-action movie works much better with the animals looking more realistic but also having clear expressions.

Mena Massoud was awesome playing Aladdin and Lily James too was awesome playing Cinderella. Mia Wasikowska Is look alike Dakota Blues Richard, Tilda Swinton and Alba Rohrwarcher when i saw her playing Alice Kingsley. I Hope that Mena Massoud will be awesome playing Ezra Bridger in the Mandalorian and Imagine that How he would have been in the original Trilogy of star wars but with different actor. Star Wars Is actually similar to Maleficent, i means Anakin Skywalker Is Maleficent, Ezra Bridger Is princess Aurora, Boba Fett Is Diablo the raven, Sabine Wren Is Prince Philips, and Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla and Garazeb Orrellios are the three fairies. I would like to see a photo of Hayden Christensen, the actor that he play Anakin Skywalker, and Mena Massoud at the Premiere of the Mandalorian. I love the little differences in this one that weren't in the animated movie. The extra song that Princess Jasmine sings. And the addition of Dalia, Princess Jasmine's handmaiden whom Genie ends up falling in love with and marrying. And I liked that it was Genie telling his kids the story of Aladdin in the beginning.
I highly recommend both the 1994 animated "The Lion King" and the 2019 live action version if you haven't seen them yet.

Not the point of Jafar's scenes with Aladdin but whenever he describes himself as a former 'common thief' I still want to say 'there's nothing common about that trick you pulled just then' - I mean being able to find and take something specific from someone's pocket without them even noticing it, that's not an easy trick to pull off.

The climax bummed me out. I was eager to see how cool giant cobra Jafar was gonna look in updated CG but they nixed that ending for a giant Iago, which is far less threatening. I'm glad to see you guys enjoyed it though.
