Thanks for making this video! I'm a new supervisor for a commercial tile company, and I was having issues with the grout caulk on my latest project. Now I feel like I'm one step closer to becoming an expert 😁
I found your channel this morning and you are very talented and I love that you do “professional” instead of halfassing (excuse my language) the work. I’ve watched several of you videos now as I am remodeling my shower ...but not doing the work myself and yes I will be watching my contractor as I inspect his work. Thank you again because I can’t stand seeing silicone caulking in the corners of a shower - that’s not even right... thanks again.
behind my builder caulk is grout. on all seams. I’ve had to replace caulk 4-5 times in 6 years. can’t keep it from getting moldy. it’s a whitish tile shower so really stands out.
Great video!!! It is amazing how many tilers are unaware of this!!!! Holy Sh**t... why do home owners have to tell "professionals" what to do and how to do it? Why are some so stupid?
Amazing video! Thank you! I need help deciding what to do in the middle of a DIY job. I have removed the old grout at the intersection of the wall tile and acrylic bathtub in our bathroom (where tan color tiles meet the white tub in your video). I may have removed too much though, which has prompted me to stop and ask for input. When I slide a business card in the slot (removed grout depth), I measure more than 1/2 inch, which is deeper than the tile's thickness. Did I take some of the concrete backer board? Any advice on what to do at this point is highly appreciated.
Sanded acrylic caulk will not hold up in a shower. You'll get 12 months tops in an everyday use shower environment and the acrylic caulk will soften and disintegrate. You need to get sanded silicone color matched caulk from Colorrite. Or use Latasil Silicone color matched caulk from Laticrete.
It’s code in my state that you use silicone in all change of plane. He also shouldn’t be teaching people while he’s still learning the basics himself. Just my opinion.
I was expecting you to call out that using Acrylic Caulk was the wrong version. You need 100% Silicon (color matching) to actually give the flexibility you talk about.
Love your content sir. If you can, do some videos about starting your business (tiling, painting, etc). I’m a young guy just starting to enter this industry. Thanks again man!
Appreciate the tip. I’m trying to lear as I go but can’t get that new new look like I want and this little tip is gonna help me out. What if I had a contractor do the grout in the corner and it’s breaking? Do I simply remove it all and apply caulk? Can this be used around the top of the tub and tile meet?
Hi. Great content!! Question. I have a brand new shower build that was grouted last week. The contractor didn’t use sanded caulk on the corners. Since it’s new, Is it a good idea to put sanded caulk over new grout? Shower hasn’t been used yet. Thanks
Is this different than regular caulk? I hate the caulk around the base of my shower and it gets moldy quick. People told me I have to use caulk and not grout. Its a tile shower
He should be using 100% silicone instead of latex. Not sure about laticreates line of grout color match products but if their like the other company’s they should have it in both silicone and latex. Mapei makes both, the latex color match is for outside the shower ( and can be painted)and the silicone is for the inside.
Good video, but a bit of room for improvement. Would love for you to show the tube of caulk you are using (display outside the caulking gun - hold it to the camera longer or share a link of exactly the product you are using. Thanks for sharing.
Your correct and in my state it’s code that you use 100%silicone in all change of planes especially in wet areas. It amazes me at the end of the video he talks about people cutting corners or not knowing what their doing. Prob didn’t know he was referring to himself. He seems like a good dude but he shouldn’t be teaching people while he’s still learning the basics himself imo.

Thank you so much! If you ever need second opinion DM me on Ig
Clean install video and thanks for the subtle background music.
Awesome content. Its about time I see someone using proper caulk in the corners of tile job.
Thanks man. Im trying to do it the right way.
Definitely appreciate seeing the tricks of the trade. I would never figure this thing out with the soapy water ….

If you do this along those two walls, do you then also apply silicone to that corner (when you silicone the rest of the shower)

Hey man. I will be doing a lot of that on my only fans. But I will post things about running a business like this
I have tiled a concrete pad at my front door. Should I use regular grout or grout caulk? I’m confused.
Do you use the same grout caulk around a tub or only walk in showers?
so grout caulk is totally different from regular caulk ( like the kind you have between the bathtub and tile wall)?
Does that sanded caulk meet the ASTM C920 industry standard?
More videos plz and thank you 😊
I’m going to post more videos like this. Long form content:)

Do you know if the product Mapesil T tile caulking can take a water clean up also? Thanks for the video.
Spray with dish soap water topically after you caulk and use popsicle sticks - spray the popsicle stick before each swipe
You are do good.
I did this and the sanded grout caulk never dry correctly even after waiting for a week without showering.

No, you can dig it out with utility knife, put 1/4” backer Rod then silicone grout caulk it.
I'd hire you.👍
Do you know why this is called “grout caulk”. I’m not finding a product named that anywhere.
Is this different than regular caulk? I hate the caulk around the base of my shower and it gets moldy quick. People told me I have to use caulk and not grout. Its a tile shower
Yes, it is made by the same company that makes the grout. It is very different than other grouts, including 100% silicon grout.
So are you using the grout caulk only as a filler -and then seal with 100% silicone over it or is there no need for that With this method?

Need backer rod underneath then silicone grout caulk
👍

It's laticrete acrylic sanded caulk
@@TheBshackelford1 thank you!
Silicone! not caulk😮
IS IT GROUT OR CAULK ??
It's both and sucks to work with
Start doing diy
Yes I will be posting more videos moving forward
You should be using 100% silicone....Sanded Acrylic caulk is garbage.
Why?
@@wadecollier4757 Do some searches on Acrylic caulk vs 100% silicon. Big difference if you goal is to enable the flexibility need stated here.
Yeah, there’s a reason why a tube of Custom’s matching silicon vs. matching acrylic caulk is double the price!

Using grout caulk sucks
