  • This is my video on what to do if you're Bosch dishwasher is not draining properly and a secret hack on how to unblock it. Please note some models may differ. This is in the UK. The dishwasher was displaying an E24 Error Code.
How do I unblock my Bosch dishwasher?
Step 1: Turn the mains off
Step 2: Drain the water with a sponge
Step 3: Take the filter and cover out by twisting it
Step 4: With pliers pull the propeller cap which is white by pulling up and then outwards
Step 5: Remove and debris and make sure the propeller is moving freely
    Step 6: Put back together
Step 7: Turn back on and put on a quick rinse cycle
    Step 8: Use as normal
If this doesn't work....... Watch another video ;-)

Thank you for this video. Kent Uk. My problem was lemon pips. Thankfully I have an old Vax 2000 so I hooked it up, and sucked up the pips. Re ran the cycle and it seems to have worked.. Phew. Not something you want at 1am in the morning. Though it wouldn't let me change the cycle as I'd already tried to re run it. Before your video. I didn't realise that lemon pips were such a terror in a dishwasher. I got about ten out.

Kia ora Dan - "the wife" here from Aotearoa New Zealand. I am the main plumber in our household and do the unblocking of our drains, including E24 and E25 dishwasher problems. I notice many people commenting on here would like to know more (a video perhaps) of how to access the waste pipe, but you haven't responded to any of them. Would be polite to offer a response I think. Also, you seem to have skipped over how to extract material from around or under the impeller, so not really any advance on what's in the manual. One last thing, if you loaded the dishwasher yourself, problem solved beforeit occurs!

Hey man, overall nice and informative video, but i would like to point out 2 things.
1- at 2:24, you do not need to use pliers, your hands are more then enough even when it is wet. Just pull/push away from the edge and it will come out (not up and away).
2- at 3:50, you do exactly that until you hear a click, only then it is placed back right.
These "tips" come from my experience, hope they help :)

I have cleaned my spotless and still have problems draining. I took the drain hose off too and seems to be no blockage. I couldn't blow into it as I imagine it has a check valve to only go one way. I tried sucking on the drain tube and got a mouthful of nasty water so I know there is nothing blocking the drain tube. This has happened several times with that error code 24. Usually a quick clean fixes it but this time it is being stubborn. From what I have heard the Bosch dishwasher does this a lot. I guess buying and expensive German name brand was not a good idea. In the past I have had dishwashers that were half the money and never had a problem like this. I'm on the verge of tossing this two year old piece of junk to the curb. Will never buy another Bosch brand again. Thanks for the vid. I did everything the same as you did and it was barely dirty.

My dishwasher doesn't drain, it usually drains alittle and then stops draining but continues to rumble. I think this means I don't have blocked tubes. Do I have a bad pump? Do drain pumps work intermittently? Thanks for the video

I blew some compressed air through the drain hose while it was running. Then it drained really well after when the pump came on. I've ran it through 7 complete cycles with no trouble. I think there was just a bunch of crap stuck in the drain hose. Hopefully it won't give me any more grief.
