I have a Growatt SPF 3500 ES off grid inverter. I'm very sad to say it is not a good experience! The first one I got installed on April first (no joke) 2022. It stopped working, January 2023. I live off grid in Portugal and after 4 months without electricity or running water, I finally received a new one. A friend (solar ingenier) installed it and "looks after" it. Now since last week without a clue, the inverter broke down again! So here I am, again with no electricity or running water. I send e-mails, called and try to contact them to solve this predicament! Hopefully this helps to get the ball rolling to get me out of this awful situation and into power!

I would like to go for the 3500W version of this inverter, but the MPPT startup voltage is TOO DAMN HIGH!!! Yeh you have a 3000W inverter that has a 60V MPPT startup voltage, and another 3600W inverter that has a 70V startup or something like that, but the frist is 3000W and I really would like that extra 500 - 600W and the second only works with your own brand batteries, which sorry but I am not gonna get locked into your ecosystem. For a proprotary battery to be fair it's competitively priced with server rack batteries and if I was just going to set and forget I would probably go with you guys, but I eventually want to move to a victron 5kVA inverter, although the main reason I want to go victron is for the low self consumption, the data sheet does say "Self-Consumption night:
Morning there. These unit have to many faults and there is very little support on them here is South Africa. They restart when they want and flash the output power 4 or 5 times a day or night. There is no support on them I will stay with a known brand here in the country. very dispondant about the Growatt 5000. not a happy chappy me.
Agree. Received my 3rd Growatt inverter today. Trying a High Voltage inverter. Inverters did not switch to solar automatically in the morning and at 10h05 it gives "Bus Voltage High" and trips all power. If you are not at home or on holiday your house has no power at all.
Beware north american buyers. If you see at 4:45 mark this unit is a N/G/Hot. On my Chinese unit from a different company it is the same thing and I can't make it work because I need 120v/N/120v to make 240v. They sent me a unit that has 1 leg of 240v like European style. Bought 5 of the 5.5kw and can't use em. I don't know why its beyond the level of understanding to the Chinese that we need 120/N/120 to get 240v.

Beware. What is not said is that this inverter has a 70w void self consumption. So it mean 1.7 kw a day, 3.36 kw a day for a 2 inverter parallel system for a standard house configuration. 1 226 KW per year ! This is for me the biggest issue. You need 1.5 (single) to 3 KW (2 in parallel) batteries only to make the inverters working during night (16 hours in winter) !

Good point! I just bought it, but have not yet installed... Has anyone checked the actual power consumption of that inverter? What I would like to know is how much does it consume when powering say 250W load. If it draws 60W with such small loads, that's a huge waste! I hope that's not the case.
@@gregor.potrebujes my growatt 5000ES eat during night about 75 watts each which is massive I think. As I use 2 of them, 150 watts. 3.6 KW each day. This means we have to add more panels and more batteries. I recommend to add 20 to 30% panels to the maximum that can be produced (because this maximum is never reached). And a big battery.

Beware. What is not said is that this inverter has a 70w void self consumption. So it mean 1.7 kw a day, 3.36 kw a day for a 2 inverter parallel system for a standard house configuration. 1 226 KW per year !
This is for me the biggest issue.
You need 1.5 (single) to 3 KW (2 in parallel) batteries only to make the inverters working during night (16 hours in winter) !

Good point! I just bought it, but have not yet installed... Has anyone checked the actual power consumption of that inverter? What I would like to know is how much does it consume when powering say 250W load. If it draws 60W with such small loads, that's a huge waste! I hope that's not the case.
@@gregor.potrebujes my growatt 5000ES eat during night about 75 watts each which is massive I think. As I use 2 of them, 150 watts. 3.6 KW each day. This means we have to add more panels and more batteries. I recommend to add 20 to 30% panels to the maximum that can be produced (because this maximum is never reached). And a big battery.
