  • It is no secret that the Taj has been losing its pearly white luster over the years. Now, after being headed for its 6th “facelift” there’s a need to find a permanent fix. The solution is simple, more stricter emission norms. But should it come at the cost of muzzling Agra’s economy? Watch how the UP government has found itself in this Catch-22 situation.

      Yahh we never feel it because you never saw the Taj Mahal 20 years ago the vividly bright white bought a undoubtedly shine and polish to world's 7th wonder.
      Decreasing of Yamuna or increasing in water level caused small breakage of interior part of tomb . Well it was restored then too. Now Taj Mahal is in verge of collapse . Experts /archeologists say it can collapse any time now.
      You may not find it ,but the pillars of Taj are slightly tilted inwards.
      And yes forest fires , are one main reason for quite yellowing of the historic monument.

    It is impossible for such a heavy structure like the Taj Mahal to be built on a foundation of wooden pillars. The wood would rot in the water and the structure would slump in no time. The foundation is mostly built on Black granite. Water should be kept away from wooden furniture. How can wooden pillars submerged in water withstand the weight of such a heavy structure?

    • @gujjewman96
      @gujjewman96 Před 2 lety +2

      No, taj mahal's base foundation is made of ebony woods which is a special type of wood that gains it's strength from moisture. So actually, a perennial yamuna is good for Taj Mahal. If yamuna dries up, then the wooden base will lose its moisture which will result into developing cracks in the base.

      Exactly. Many of us may consider Agra as a representation of the chaos of the Mughal rule, but to the uninitiated one with Indian history, it is a big white, magnificent building, wonder of the world. The Taj Mahal, at this point, has become synonymous with Agra, and to some extent, India. The architecture of the Mughal period is (unfortunately) one of the last remnants of the India that was, along with a few ancient monuments, and the British, Rajput, and South Indian monuments, almost all heavily influenced by the Mughals. China wouldn't tear down the Great Wall if it was built by the Mongols, would it? Would Egypt destroy the pyramids if they were built by slaves? Why should we allow our Wonder of the World to decay, just because it was built by foreign invaders?

Currently the industries are pitting the state governments against each other to lower restrictions to keep them in the state. As soon as a state strengthens and cracks down on pollution, they'll move to another state with less regulations causing the other state to lose a lot of employment opportunities

    We don't need more regulations. We need better enforcement and more importantly, better execution of current incentives supplemented by infrastructure. STPs aren't getting clearances or are stuck in courts. Pollution control devices and sewage connection for tanneries aren't getting distributed dispite the Central govt Swacch Bharat program.
    Instead what we have is constant harassment and unbalanced enforcement. DCs will not issue PCB. certificates or make tanneries eligible either because of corruption or outright refusal over religious prejudices. STPs are stuck because some mid level Babu in the forest dept thinks the project needs to go back to Environment Ministry for approval because they found one more tree in the plot. (Babu is looking for a deal to fill his coffers).
    Our environmental laws are good and very broad. The standards in them are pretty good and comparable to environmental regulations in Canada but this is all on paper. We don't need more regulations, we need better processes that rewards execution of projects.
