so this was an idea I had whilst working in a science class. It worked out really well. so a still workes by 'distilling' the water from any heavy contaminants. you get the water hot enough to convert to steam (allow enough room in the top of your container to bubble, otherwise dirty water will flow down your tube) seal on a tube or means of trapping and redirecting the steam. then just collect.
I had intended to wrap cloth around the tube and keep it damp, but I forgot the rags I wanted to use. I suppose I could have grabbed some moss or something...

It's so easy mate. Obviously takes a bit longer than boiling alone. But we'll worth the extra effort. It would be a must if you were on the coast.
