Baker had a tough trip to Fayetville one summer but he battled back. Burks will too.
It all depends on how good of a player you are. If you're elite, your punishment will be less, but you lose your scholarship if you're a nobody second-string player. Mixon literally punched a chick in the face and still came back while Baker ran from the cops drunk.

Why not demolish the LNC, play at the field house for 3 years, and build the entertainment district in that area instead of the way on the outskirts of Norman, away from campus?

Complete waste of taxpayer dollars to build an arena way off campus. This arena would be nearly in Moore. It’s trouble enough getting students to games. They won’t come to an arena way off campus. If you build a new arena, it needs to be on or near campus. 5,000 people a game isn’t really going to grow the economy of Norman.

This is the thing. There is a reason you can’t sign legal work if under the influence. Judgment is impaired and believe me they never see it. I have worked with many on these issues as an LPC. The education has to be to stress that with young and older people too for that matter. Use that point to educate the rest of the locker room
One more idea for the arena and entertainment venue is to have an area out the arena like Jerry World with an Oklahoma live with up and coming Oklahoma bands that would play on the cheap with large monitor with college basketball games and highlights going on with food court and bar.
Canady coming here means we win 2 more in a row at least. That’s an oversimplification but still the most likely result. It means a lot.
It was my impression that one of the 2 DUIs was back at the very beginning of June. That one ony came out after the 2nd DUI.
Another idea is the build an adjacent field house for youth basketball and volleyball. Check out Frisco field house. Huge money maker for surrounding restaurants, etc.
Norman needs an entertainment venue for sure. I think OU needs to push the new arena as also a venue for state tournament play and that would be massive revenue for Norman

It absolutely is. Plus, and let's not forget this fact, that means that Burks was driving at 95mph (speed limit is 70mph by Indian Hills Rd. I believe). That's insanely dangerous and just paints a huge target on your back for the OHP. And that's only what he was cited for. What if the patrolman took some off since he was already getting popped for DUI.

I understood why Stoops didn't cut Mixon. He would just go somewhere else, and immediately start anyway. Keeping him let him be punished, by being suspended for a year. He wasn't even allowed team contact during that year, which is pretty strict. But that was always a tough sell to people who aren't fans, and it made Bob look like a desperate Tom Osborne, bringing in crooks nobody wanted, to get an edge.

@@willcover6142 And just like Mixon, Dusty rejoined the team after his suspension, and went on to live a life without further incident. What Stoops did was the best thing for the kid, but not the best thing for himself, the team, or the university. I would not have made the same choice, but I understand why he did it.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol needs to cover up some of this stuff, but this kind of stuff must be disciplined. It also reveals the lack of focus in terms of football goals. No body wanting to win it all would allow themselves to get distracted. I am not worried but this needs be dealt with seriously. Conditioning, discipline, and playing with physicality.
