- FORSCAN is FREE software that alloys you to program ignition keys for FORD and MAZDA vehicles (as well as perfom diagnostic and service procedures, reset check engine light, etc.) instead of paying for the same service at a car dealership.
If you are a DO-IT-YOURSELF mechanic, and you own Fords and Mazdas, this software is super-practical and easy to use. Today I'll program two new keys for a 2006 Mazda 5, but this procedure will work on most Fords and Mazdas. Let's get started...Please Subscribe to my channel, Thanks!

Exactly the video I was searching for. Thank you!!
I hope it helped. Take Care
@EverydayProjects hey what happens if I accidentally clicked on erase and programming keys? Ik u said not to but I did and then after I clicked on ignition key programming it says pats programming failed hmm? Any ideas
This is right on the money! Glad I found your channel, sub'd! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Know I REALLY NEED THIS! LIKE YESTERDAY 😮This is pretty cool✔️💯👍🏽
Hi Renaldo! This won’t work with your Toyota so you’ll need to go buy a ford or Mazda now.😊 it saved me $400 by not going to the Stealership with this.

This looks like powerful software and very useful
Ford owned Mazda for a while and that's why the software covers both makes. It can do just about anything a dealer can including all sorts of tweaks of things like headlight settings, air bag status and reset, it can even tell the weight of a passenger in the front seat to calibrate whether the air bag will deploy or not. Amazing software! I am very happy to have it because I own two Mazdas and one Ford.
Very informative…thanks!
Thanks Peter! If you know anybody with Fords and Mazdas, send them to this video. It is so much cheaper to program my own keys! The dealer wanted over $500 for one programmed key!
Nice interesting video buddy boy, great job!
I now have spare keys! I was getting worried with only one key on hand. Thanks for watching, Jason. The software is limited to Ford and Mazda. I wish there were more avalable for other makes. Take care
That really good software, really good video 👍👍
Thanks, it makes so much sense to program my own keys. Much less expensive and kinda fun!😄

Really good video 👍
Thank you very much!
Well done Craig👍 I would not have the patience for it 😆
It's not too bad once you get into the software. It's actually way more difficult to film and edit a video about it than the actual programming. The keys were working within 45 minutes but it took me 4 hours to edit the show. All the best! PS I bought an Open Air Outdoors coffee mug...just waiting for delivery...I see the tracking is moving along.
Thanks buddy🍻@@EverydayProjects
Thanks for the video. Very useful. When programming the transponders, did you also test the other buttons, i.e. panic button? Is there a way to program the transponder buttons via FORSCAN itself instead of the manual step at the end?
I didn't test the panic button. Good point! I don't think that FORSCAN is able to program the key lock buttons. I've had keys programmed professionally before and I saw them using the door-open-close-method to program the buttons, so it could be the only way. Best of luck and let me know if you discover another method.

Thanks, I appreciate kind comments like these. Have a very nice day and thanks again!
Hi. (Trying to add a ignition key) I can’t finish the process that you explained to program a new ignition key. Always say after the 12 min, failure. I have only one key working and 4 stored key in the system. Maybe is for that? Thanks in advance.
Start over and look at the options you will see when entering the PATS programming. I believe that you may reduce the number of stored keys to allow you to program more. Maybe 4 is the maximum you can have!? I'm not an expert, but that is what I would try. Good luck and let me know how it works.
@@EverydayProjects I think that. But I’m afraid to erase all of theme and try to add a two new ones. Maybe it doesn’t work and now I’ll not have nothing to start the car.
NIce video. My 2013 Ford Escape only has remote start and I only have one key as I bought the car used. Ive seen videos where in FORSCAN if you try to program new keys it deletes the programming of all other keys and this can be quite scary. Does this work with remote start only cars? Thanks
FORSCAN will prompt you through every step of key programming. I have not programmed a keyless fob but it should be able to do it.
I was down to ONE key. FORSCAN allowed me to add two new keys. It is the chip inside the key that gets programmed, so whether or not you have a style with a physical key or not, FORSCAN should be able to program other keys from it. If you follow the prompts exactly, you should be able to program new keyless fobs too. It is a risk that we all take but I, and many others, have successfully programmed new keys. Just make sure that the new keyless fobs you buy have the programmable chip inside. Buy from a reputable seller who specializes in aftermarket programmable keys. Ebay has some good sellers.
Nice video! Do you know if forscan can program the key fob ford a 2010 mazda CX-9?
Forscan will do all Mazdas in that year, both physical keys and keyless fobs, door lock / remote entry. Watch the linked video.
@@EverydayProjects thanks for the reply!. God bless!
Can Forscan program all the remote and start functions on an AKE card system? 2008 MX5
I’m not an expert with FORSCAN but it is capable of of performing all dealer functions . Check out the FORSCAN forum and ask your questions there , maybe someone can help.
@@EverydayProjects From what I gathered from chatting with the carsandtrucksremote folks is that these remotes are not DIY capable and require dealer only software or a fully equipped knowledgeable locksmith. They were very helpful and if they have a remote that works, they will get my business. I need to find out some more info as the VIN makes a difference. It is a unique system as you still need to twist the ignition cylinder, and you can remove a small cover and use a physical emergency or valet key. On one remote, it will operate all the functions except the ignition cylinder.
Do you either have a link for that cable or a link to video that explains it.
Look for them on Amazon. They are made by many manufacturers and listed as OBD2 ELM 327 interface devices. Some are corded, others are Bluetooth. I like the corded ones and they are less expensive than the bluetooth ones. Look for one that has an HS CAN and MS CAN switch. The software will be able to access all channels with these models (HS=High speed Can Bus, MS= Medium speed Can Bus). You'll be prompted by FORSCAN to move the switch to perform certain functions. Also, eBay and many auto parts stores will carry the ELM 327 interfaces cables. Good luck. Please subscribe, it's FREE!
@EverydayProjects I've heard some horror stories I'm not sure if I want to try it or not
I've programmed keys on a 2003 F-150 and a 2006 Mazda 5 without a hitch. Dive in. The water's warm! You can do it!@@RobertDickens2002
@@EverydayProjects until I accidentally brick the computer and no key will start and my wife kills me lol what brand key did you use I have heard something about some will program and some won't that it's best to use oem
I have two transponder keys 40bit but it keeps saying pats can't be programmed hmm and say number of keys stored 0
I'm no expert, but I'd look on the FORSCAN Forums. Ask the question and somebody will have the answer. You can find the Forum on their website or look at the linked video I made about downloading FORSCAN and see if you can find it there. Let me know how you make out with this.
@EverydayProjects yea I read the forums I tried everything it's might be because the transponder key that I have is a 40bit. Maybe I can try a 80bit?
I hope that works.@@Mylotheblacknwhitecat
👍👍🌹
Does this work if you don’t have a key at all?
No. You must have one key at a minimum
On a 2016 mazda6 it doesn't have pats.
That's strange. Sometimes, newer cars have a push button start and call the anti-theft system Theft Deterrent System =TDS not PATS= Passive anti-theft-system. Either way, it should have an anti-theft system built in, ie: alarm/immobilizer. FORSCAN should be able to program new push-button fobs as well as keyed ones.
What program you use?
Watch the video. It is called Forscan.
How about 5 button keys
Youll have to check to see if FORSCAN will do them. Fill the links in my video to download the software. 🤞
