- Best webcam for yoga teaching? Logitech C920 vs. Logitech BRIO. Today I'm comparing two webcams for teaching yoga online. If you use Zoom with a laptop, you may want to upgrade your camera to an external webcam. Both the Logitech C920 ($80) and the Logitech BRIO ($190) are great choices. I also show how to use a webcam settings app to adjust the settings of your webcam.

Awesome! if you don't have the "small space" issue, then the C920 is great. I still use it for a lot of my headshot videos.

Hi Ashley. Do you use a Mac Book Air with the webcams you recommend? That info would be helpful. And if you do, what other wires, equipment do you need to hook it up?
I could, but I do not. I have a 2015 macbook pro and just recently upgraded to a 2022 macbook pro where there are not USB-A inputs, just USB-C. You'd need an adapter for the USB cable that the webcam plugs into. I bought two USB-A to USB-C adapters when I bought my newer computer so I could still plug in my webcam and microphone.
You are Amazing Ashley! Excellent comparison of the different Cameras. I have a c920 but use my mobile phone camera instead as its been giving me a better height so my Sun salutations are fully visible! Need to evaluate for other spaces. Thank you for all the information you share. Keep rocking!
That's great! My iPhone 12 would probably be great for filming. Initially I thought I'd use my iphone for everything. But I found I just really like recording directly on my computer. Less hassle. I will pay to save time.

Definitely. I think Logitech has a free app to download. I haven't found it, but I have heard that it's out there somewhere.

Hi Ashley! I was wondering if these two cameras connect via usb/ bluetooth/both? Could I use it with my Ipad (which has no usb port)? Thank you very much. I’m new to this 😅
They connect through USB. I don't believe you can use webcams with ipads. At least not that I am aware of. The camper on the ipad or iphone should suffice.

HI Ashley, great timing I have been researching these and other cameras for teaching yoga. Is there any chance your skin got smoothed over because you are set on 60 frames per second? I've definitely seen other review videos fot this camera where that didnt seem to be happening and the guys looked very sharp but then again their skin might just not be quite as smooth in the first place :-)
As far I understand the Brio can be pretty CPU intensive so if I get it I will choose for 1080p. I know there are cheaper cameras offering 1080p but as I understand the lens quality of the Brio still makes the difference. So apparently not all 1080p's are equal !? As I understand choosing 4k is kinda complex depending on your bandwidth as well as the bandwidth and computers of the viewer. We might just not be there yet but I'm sure the future is coming our way.. Logitech also has a Brio called Brio stream edition, I was looking at it. They say it is optimized for streaming, weird statement I mean all webcams should be optimized for streaming and definitely the regular Brio as well. Can you let us know if you are happy with autofocus and what's the best setting for walking closer to and away from the camera? I tend to do a bit of that.n How does that compare to your 920? thanks and all the best in the lockdown keep it flowing ~ peace
Maybe. I didn’t know how to change the brio settings. There’s a Logitech software that I should probably look more into. When there is more light shining on me, the camera is awesome. I just made another demo in my apartment.

Really helpful! I just got the Logitech C920 which works pretty well but does blur when I move from near the screen to a distance farther back in my studio. Was looking for a fix and the Webcam Settings App I think will do the trick. Many thanks!
Logitech software (which is free) has a setting you can change, too. But I haven't used it. I just downloaded the webcam settings app I talked about and it works. The blur when you walk might be the 30 FPS, or it might be the auto-focus. Play around with it.

Hey Ashley! The timing of this is perfect! In the past few days I have been researching these two cameras. I still can't really decide. You know that expression "pay cheap, pay twice"? I can't decide if the C920 is fine, but if I'm going to be investing then for a hundred pounds more, I might as well go in for the Brio. I know you have loads of experience with the C920, do you have any insight into my dilemma?!
What is your primary purpose for the camera? If it's so use it for yoga videos, go with the brio. I probably would get the brio if I had to choose anyway. Invest in the better quality. In this video I didn't compare it in my apartment, but WOW the color vibrancy of the brio is so amazing. And the camera is about 2.5 feed closer than where I place the C920. I shared it in my FB group today, "Yoga Sequencing & Teaching Tips". I'll likely do a comparison of the two in my apartment, too. Also.. I dropped my brio and about broke it. Don't do that. Keep it save. My C920 has tumbled and fumbled in my backpack for years. It's a bit touchy by now.

@@emmahenry1163 I actually dropped it about 1 foot onto the end of a barbell. No too bad, but still scary. I thought the glass might have cracked a bit, but I think it's fine. That cord it comes with is just so dang long and I fumbled with it. I shared some photo comparisons in my apartment in my FB group "Yoga Sequecnicng & Teaching Tips." The brio is definitely BRIGHT and makes all the color more vibrant. I 100% like it better for my apartment videos.

Just wondering if this camera would be good for knitting as well . i was also thinking of doing dragon slaying like in the Paper Bg Princess story. Not sure if the light from the fire breathing dragon might overexpose the web cam. Do you think it would work with lawn bowling as we are all dressed in white. Is there dedicated web cam for lawn bowling that you know of?

I think the Logitech BRIO would be a good choice for all of those options. You can change the settings using the Logitech software or a webcam settings app, so that you are not over-exposed. Also, it filmed with a higher frame rate so that faster movements will be captures better.
Hey Ashley! I am very grateful for your clear videos, I wish I had found you a few months ago... but a quick question. I am looking at getting a webcam as you recommend but notice you also have the clip on lens recommendation in your tech blog (xenvo?). I know this is intended to enhance the phone camera, but can you use these on the laptop too? Would that work? I am basically trying to improve my video quality so want to switch to using my MacBook but can't get far enough away from my mat. Your video on this is so helpful! Many thanks, Lon
I don't actually have the lens clip thing, so unfortunately I cannot accurately answer your question. I put it on my website in the tech blog because people were asking for something to use with a phone. So I found an option and linked it.
@@AshleyHagen thanks! I have gone with the webcam ... fingers crossed I can figure it all out. The rode doesn't seem to work alongside the webcam for some reason, even if I select that for the sound. I will search your videos and see if you have one that covers this. Although the webcam audio is actually very good, so may just stick with that!
Dear Ashley. Thank you for your interesting video comparing webcams. Just wondering how far your C920 cam has to be away from you for participants to be able to capture a complete view of me in all poses. I only have about space to move around 10 feeet from the cam?
Any guidance would be appreciated. It sounds like the Brio would be better in the regard. Thanks.

Ashley, thank you for showing this comparison. When you played with the settings app, how did the C290 compare to the Brio for live zoom classes? In your recordings I think the c920 actually looks better but I'm curious about live :) Thank you
I have another video I’m sharing tomorrow comparing it in my living room and WOW the Brio makes a world of difference. Had I moved my set up forward when I demoed the brio in my studio, the lighting would have auto adjusted and looked WAY better. The colors pop and the quality is far better. New video tomorrow morning.

it should, as long as you have one of those USB extensions. I have an Air and I use the Hiearcool USB C Hub
