    I feel really dumb. I always thought the split color wheel and auto rotating gobo was just adding "functions" for the sake of having more functions, but totally useless. I've honestly never tried it in haze... but it looks AMAZING. I can't believe I've been missing out on this for so many years!

    Excellent review. I just bought 4 pcs two days ago. One question, l was going to make the transition from a chauvet obey 70 to wolfmix 1 but l read some comments on some CZcams videos about that you need also to buy a software to make the wolfmix 1 to work? And are the moving heads full compatible with the wolfmix?
    Any plans to make a wolfmix 1 tutorial?

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching. You do not need to buy any additional software for wolfmix. There is a learning curve and you would want to pre program it pretty well to get everything out of the lights. This can be a bit tedious. You will probably also have to add the lights profile to it on your own. These things can all be learned but you will have to take a little time. I am actually not using the unit at this time. I have switched to chauvet showexpress as it has many more options and allows me more flexibility.

    Great video. I keep eyeing these lights, but I use totems more than truss these days. I'm curious if totems aren't as popular in China as so many of the moving heads from there don't tilt down low enough for them.

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching. Well they make almost all of the lights there and it is my belief that each company tweaks them all a bit to better serve their brand and customers needs. But, I am not sure why their larger lights have more tilt. The 10r 275 w fixture that i reviewed actually does tilt 270 and would be perfect if it wasnt so big. But I use the 160s and project alot on ceilings and walls which looks good.

    Hello, good video, I want to ask if there is a lot of difference between these 100W fixtures and the 160w fixtures, what would be your recommendation? Regards

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching. Depending on your typical room size, I think they are both good options. As you might imagine, the 160 is brighter and will give you a bit wider coverage with the prism activated. These fixtures would both be best suited for hanging as they do not tilt down much for totems. They are also good on the stage/ground. Final note, the fan noise comes across a bit loud at times. I notice this more on the 160s, probably because I actually use 2 of them occasionally. They come one when needed, but there are 2 per unit and sometimes work at different times. This is pretty noticeable when standing behind or next to them on totems and very quiet rooms, but has not been an issue with music playing at a nominal level.

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for checking it out. Not 100% sure what you mean, it does have pan, tilt and fine pan and tilt in the dmx profile. (Is that what you are asking) You can pull the manual on the web site.

    • @MrBraubacher
      @MrBraubacher Před rokem

      Thanks for the quick reply. What I mean is a channel dedicated to preprogrammed movements like figure 8s, back and forth, and ellipticals based off the value of said channel in combination with the values of pan and tilt. I did look at the manual and it appears the answer is no. It just means you can have one scene that is already a cool movement instead of programming a movement over multiple scenes. Does that make sense? I’m new to the light game and don’t know the proper terminology. Thanks again, love your dedication, I’m a subscriber!

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem +1

      @Brian Raubacher Ah. No. I have actually never come across a light that has that type of pre programming as a channel selection. (Except for your average auto-run or sound active - no decisive pattern) Lighting software and wolfmix offer some of these types of movements. Thanks again for commenting and being a subscriber.

      A better controller or software is the answer. Thanks! For your knowledge, some if the $100-$200 range U’King lights have what I’m talking about, but lack the other cool features of this one. It’s convenient for small bar gigs cause you can bring just a little cheap controller.

      Yikes... thats a tough question. I couldnt answer for "one light". Especially "budget". BUT... there are 2 lights that I have gotten so much use out of which are the lixada mini movers - the 7x10. (One of my first vids) I believe there are a few companies that put their names on them. I often mount them vertically under my speakers and with dmx I am able to do a little ceiling wash or floor wash have them move and change as well. When I got them they were so affordable and I still use them as base lighting. Also 4 in expensive battery operated wireless uplights go along way if used right. 🤘 Can be used up or as wash lights.

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching. I have not used this light out. Alot will depend on the brightness of the room you will use them in. For movile dj parties where you sre trying to light a dance floor or ceiling... 100-300 person rooms I think they would be great. Alot will also depend if you are hanging or using on totems. Hanging would be best as they do not tilt down much. If you dont mind doing the work, I think 4 will always look better than 2. I have not used the 230 yet, but I have one here that I have to unbox and try from another company, but most likely very similar. Stay tuned. 1👍

    Ive learned alot from your reviews of the various entry moving heads and it has helped me and others im sure make smarter purchasing decisions.
    That said, i have a few requests. I would find it helpful it if you would review the sound operated mode and how functional each light is without using a DMX controller. Does the light actually move to the music? Can you get a good.light show from it without a DMX controller? Can you master slave it to other lights and make a nice show using sound mode?
    Im sure im not alone when i say id rather put 2 to 4 lights in master/slave and let the internal mic do.its thing. The truth is im not very versed on dmx contollers. So knowing what lights work best in this way would help. Obviously you dont want to redo each video to add this topic but maybe you could do one video looking at the top 5 or 10 lights for use without a controller?
    Finally, since controllers are the best option i would love to see a series on how to best us a controller to make quick light shows.
    I messed with soundswitch before but it was complicated and seemed like it would take forever and i wasnt sure if id have to reprogram it for each event.
    Maybe you could do a series on S.S? I also wonder if a physical controller like the Obey line would be easier to make a show with?.
    The truth is lights nowadays have so many they can move and be employeed that i feel like you need to be a lighting engineer to maximize them. Id like to think theres a way to make this easy for the typical DJ but i have seen many ppl talking about it. Maybe you can help make this less intimidating.
    Anyway, thanks again for al the reviews

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I understand the desire for easier for sure. It is my personal opinion that non of these lights are very good in sound active only. This is because they all will incorporate 360 degree movement and strobing. I being this up in most of my videos. I do not have sound switch, but many out there do. There are also people out there with both soundswitch and the wmx-1 will send you pre programmed shows for a fee which would make things easier for you. The only problem with most though is that we are so often made to set up in different positions which me may want to limit our lights. I know that soundswitch and wmx 1 have options.to change the room sizes to help with this, where most do not and would require programming knowledge.

      Woops. Lol. Use arrows to get you to the top right corner options... you want to select the one on the bottom of those on the top right. Then you should be able to get back to Eng.
