      @@Dadbot it stems from the fact that the Big Forefathers of Mobas i.e. league of legends and dota2 balance their whole game around the map, and making alternative maps breaks the balance of their game, and so most mobas after follow suit. league used to have multiple maps but they were all unbalanced because their main focus was designing champs around the main map so they removed it
      heroes of the storm and pokemon unite are unique in that the games are much more objective focused, and their win conditions are much more than "break the enemy base and win". hots has some maps that are like that, but they also have maps that are won via a payload ie overwatch/tf2 for instance, while in unite you literally cant break the final goal to speedrun the win. the result of these design decisions is that the heroes/pokemon are balanced/designed more around how they fight each other rather than their static role on a given map. this is why we have attacker/speedster/allrounder etc as classifications in unite, which describe how they fight, as opposed to something like in league of legends where we classify champions into botlaners, supports that follow the botlaner, junglers, toplaners and midlaners

    Hoopa and Score comp pokemon with super long range unites like Dragonite/Gengar will be absolutely broken, or Pokemon like Crustle and Greedent. Now that Zap cant just coinflip the game for you, youll see anything that can be speedy and score fast be much more viable. Also mons with shield mechanics or Invincible unites can theoretically stack the Rayquaza buff so his value is more determined by team comps of both sides. One last thing youll see more often is much earlier surrenders. Now that you cant outright steal the game so easily, people will give up as soon as it feels hopeless. We will have to see how it pans out but these are my theorycraft ideas for how the game flow and mon selection will shake out at first.

  • @AriehAnkri
    @AriehAnkri Před 2 lety +2

    - You didn't say that the Rayquasa shield is given only to team members that are not KO.
    That means that even if you steal it and your whole team is dead, you will not get much value from it. That is a good thing...
    - The shield from rayquasa looks really big!
    - scoring will be more important over team fights.
    - speedsters and goal getter will get more value
    - regieleki is really strong! I saw a video when he kills a gengar with 50% HP.
    - I think finally the defender role will have a good place inside of the game (to counter regieleki, rayquasa shield and fast scoring pokemon).

      Similar with Zapdos really.
      If you last hit Zapdos while your team is dead, they're most likely not scoring.

    Here are my thoughts:
    1. Maybe splitting the center EXP is the play here? Since there are so many EXP, time is of the essence. You could have a fed central pokemon too, I suppose? But your paths will be working with a central pokemon who will arrive late (because they won't clear the farms faster compared to splitting the center), and the enemy team will have all 5 pokemon in pathes earlier, and 2 of them are center EXP boosted, plus 1 who gets to solo some path farms.
    2. It might be good to break goals early? There's already a lot of EXP on the map anyway, and not having the outer goals means less control over the center Altaria + Swablus? Or just generally, some of them have to get their spawned EXP instead of team fighting (which could happen while contesting the center farms). Pre-Rayquaza objectives might be more important now too, since Rayquaza might not win the match for you anymore, so getting rid of the outer goals helps your team getting those easier.
    3. I'm not sure what to think about Rayquaza. A nice bonus? But if people don't want it, it might be easier to rip/flip Rayquaze. Or maybe having a few defenders defending your goals is the play.
    4. Invading the enemy center area might be good, yeah, especially since the center buffs are located on the outer side now. You could take the outer buff and then the center Baltoys, assuming the enemy center couldn't stop you.

    The way Rayquaza is setup is amazing. If that boost only applies to alive Pokemon at the time and if you can knock it off before the enemy even gets to the goal, in a way that they looses the score shield and speed.... That's fantastic. Give more incentive to try to score while the enemy team is trying to fight over objective, makes it so the game isn't a wipe after Rayquaza is lost. It's changes the timing and utility of Unite moves end game because they won't be useless after the objective fight!! So happy hope this map straight up replaces the old one or that they change the other map to just qb maybe. I'd of they make this the exclusive Ranked map I'll actually feel a reason to play ranked.

    • @Xtrooper116
      @Xtrooper116 Před 2 lety

      @@kamikeserpentail3778 the current design encourages you to hold unite until zap fight and then use it during that fight to eliminate the other team or secure the final hit. Because of that almost everyone uses unite because after wards it's far more difficult to defeat the enemy team before they score due to the buff and solo unites become useless because normally they can puss the 100 in before you can ko them. Now all you really need to do is drop just enough damage to remove that shield and your back on a level playing field. The nature of the buff means it also more viable to try to split you team to score goals and play objective so it's harder to predict when unites will be thrown out and then encourages a much more varried end game. Not to mention that if the wind tunnels stay after Rayquaza is defeated it further encourages varried play because now you have a bunch more movement speed boosts to actually get you to the enemy side should you chooses to defend rather than try to take obj. The only thing that could be better is if new roton and Reggie don't disappear at 2:00 minutes opening up even more options to maintain a lead or catch up

      Not technically true, as I've had several games where the team that got Zapdos still loses, but it is good to see this change.

    I'm a bit excited for Snorlax. I think he's a lot more viable with the new map because of his block. Good defense for the rayquaza score shields 👍
    Also how's mime's healing on guard swap? Is it better in the new patch for the test server?

  • @PaulyGutes

    I wonder if 3-1-1 (3 top, 1 mid, 1 bottom) will end up becoming meta on this map. There seems to be far more experience on the top lane than bottom, and Regieleki seems to be the far more important objective. That said, your bottom laners should probably opt to stay bottom to fight over the Registeel/Rock/Ice in order to provide buffs to your top laners who will be fighting over the Eleki or trying to push/defend against the Eleki

    • @Northolt100
      @Northolt100 Před 2 lety

      It's the opposite; bottom lane has more experience. That said, the upgraded Rotom has its place.

  • @imbroke6195
    @imbroke6195 Před 2 lety

    For some reason I feel snorlax will be very good because of how much more important eleki is and being able to close off the ray pit to melee attackers

    As a new map in addition to the old map, it's a big let down.
    It's just so similar, when they could have made much more interesting changes.
    As a new map that replaces the old map, it looks great.
    Mid objective no longer being as powerful is something people have asked for for a long time.
    Red and Blue buffs being a bit more forward can add to invasion potential and increase strategy (even though those were still options before)
    The 1 point pokemon clusters are a nice little change for score items.
    Increasing the impact of mid team fights to secure experience is a good move.
    The Rotom replacement seems as good as Rotom should have been (people rarely escort Rotom, they just leave it to die)
    And the alternates for bottom buff are cool, though honestly you should be able to influence which one spawns somehow. Or at least get an indication which it will be before it spawns so the team can decide how much to prioritize them compared with top. Maybe your team is too squishy for the recovery or whatever (exp is still always good)

  • @christopherrobinson3857

    Can't tell u how many games I've played where my team completely ignores the regi's/dreadknaw or rotom/regileki. For a low score game of around 200 for both teams. They should watch this video.

    Hey Jake, just a thought on Rayquaza, those are big shields. Taking Rayquaza could mean you dominate a team fight with your massive shields, and then insta-dunks or score shields would hardly matter.

    • @quamorant133

      Team fight take place before Ray. If you win the fight, then you deserve the shields.
      If you've taken down the enemy team except for 1 who manged to stole Ray, it wouldn't matter much because only that person can get the shield.

    • @JuneauGTW
      @JuneauGTW Před 2 lety +1

      @@jufref I am unsure, but that wouldn't make a lot of sense. You should be able to destroy the shield before they start scoring, even if you cannot KO them. Otherwise, you would have to wait for them to start scoring before throwing your damage at them.
