First of all thank you!! I made this spread sheet worked out great. I have a question. And wondering you can help me. My company is on point system. For example if you call out sick and don’t have sick time to cover your shift it’s 1 point. If your late under 2 hours it’s .5 a point. Now what I want to do is create a column where it calculates the points. But I don’t know the formula I would use. Plus I don’t even know if I explained this right. Lol I’m trying here

Great tutorial, no bells and whistles just the KISS principle which produces the data. I've followed this through on my own and have produced the same result. Only question I have, is relating to the days of the month which vary... I guess we just manually change these? Thanks
Hi. Thanks for the video. Do you have a video on how to create a template to manage staff availability across multiple work sites? So, I have to manage supervisors availability on 5 different work sites and need to manage capacity across these sites, show when each is on site, on annual leave and in training. The template also needs to account for weekends and public holidays. Any pointers?

This was a quick and simply instruction to follow for what I need, however what if I choose to calculate vacation in hours so that we can track people take full days or 1/2 days?

Wow! This is super nice, great video and very close to what I am tring to find out, the thing is that I need to plan a cronogram but based on the needs or disponibility of the participants/employees instead of aplying the default company parameters equally to everyone, so for example: I have 2 participants asigned to 1 task, Participant 1 can work only on mondays from 10 am to 6 pm (8 hours) and Participant 2 can work mondays and tuesdays from 8 am to 12 md, but one of them have a certain date that will have to work less hours than he normally would do, and we don´t know yet the entry and leave time for that date, so I know that I can solve the start date and end date for the task by getting the earlier date for Start and the latest date for End between the participants, but how can I count only their efective time, days, etc? track the progress and that kind of stuff that a project manager is for?

Brilliant video. I have tried to set up a spreadsheet all weekend for a shift roster. One question how do you change the months to reflect day changes for example all months will not start on a Monday
+Dave Ryan Hey Dave. Thanks for the comment. You'd have to do this manually. But it won't effect the formulas. Just change the days and move the grey weekend cells over to match the days. It will still work just fine

Unfortunately I think that I’m in over my head with this one,
All I want to do is put 12 maintenance guys into a 9am to 5pm 5 day rolling roster, projected for the year, the tricky part is that 6 of them do an on-call shift where they have to hand over a van to the next on-call guy.

Depends on the rules internally in your company. And legally?! But I would just condition the cell to turn a certain color if their absence went above a certain number of days.
Please could you show me how to make a daily register, based on who is due to attend? I have a list of clients, who all attend on different days. I have them listed on a separate excel sheet, with they days/sessions they attend, & I need to be able to print a day by day register, according to who is in on those days, & also be able to add names and days to the list & have the alterations to be recognised by the register.
Some clients attend only mornings, some attend afternoons, some do full days, & I would like to be able to include them all on the same register.Also, is there a way of making a similar register, so I can keep a digital record of who attends.

Noli Pugay thanks! Hold CTRL and highlight from Monday to Friday as you go along. So four lots of highlighted days Monday to Friday.
If your weekends are blank it won't matter if it's in the formula so in essence, you can count the whole row
This is because employees often fill weekends along when filling for holiday plan if they are not informed not to fill week end. The only solution I see is to lock or protect weekend cells.... There must be easier way?
This was extremely helpful but I have "Late" and "Early" which both need actual time put in the cells. Right now I have "late" which shows up as blue and uses a sum function to total in corresponding column. But how do I do that to "Early"? I need it to show up a different color and total in it's own corresponding column? Haven't been able to figure that one out. Can you help me?
under the home tab, find conditional formatting and manage rules, find the rule you want to change and change the settings that way.

I like this one. I was wondering if there is also a way to incorporate the hours each employee worked that day ? Please if you could give me any pointers.!
I would say that you could easily just put the number of hours worked in that day's box. Then over on the right hand side (where all the holidays, lates & sicks are), make a new column and simply add the numbers together. You could use the SUM formula. Eg: =SUM(A1:H1) and down along. It will count the sum of all the numbers you input into the boxes. Hope this makes sense!

The thing you did which filled the days, "mon", "tues", "wed", didn't work for me. I had to type them in manually for all 31 days. Can you point me to a video that shows how you got that to fill in the days automatically, so in future, I don't have to do all that manually please?

Saturday and Sunday will be on different dates of every month, but in your video it is on same date because you simply copy the sheet and change January to February and March.
