  • www.bjork.com/ Bjork performed MÓÐIR one time only, live at the Glastonberry festival in 1994, the NME stage was her venue on June 24-26'th.
~Moðir means Mother in Icelandic and other Norse languages. Although Björk says the song is sung in Icelandic, it is her characteristic gibberish style. There are several Icelandic words, but they do not make total grammatical sense.
~The Ultimate Intimate had a special on the song with an mp3 of the performance and a remix (by luticov) made using the live recording. This special crashed when the server died.
~At the beginning of the mp3 clip Bjork says, "Thank you...ok we gonna uh squeeze in a new song now...and its sung in Icelandic, if that's helpful for you all."
~The name Moðir is was given by the guy who recorded the festival; there was not any björk reference or set list with its name on it. Film used in this video edit: Unknown and Björk's 'Play Dead' official video.
    (English Lyrics for MÓÐIR)
    MOTHER
My mother in the pen, pen
    don't you worry for, for
I shall loan you these rags of mine
rags of mine to dance in
I shall loan you these rags of mine
rags of mine to dance in
    MÓÐIR
    Móðir mín í kví, kví
    kvíddú ekki því, því
Ég skal ljá þér duluna mína
    duluna mína að dansa í
Ég skal ljá þér duluna mína
    duluna mína að dansa í

16 years old. Long time ago. Holidays in Norway. Bus full of tourists like me. Earphones. This song. Again. Again. 20 hrs daylight. Ineffaceable.

She took the lyrics from an Icelandic folk song, Modir Min i kví kví, and put them over this lovely improvisation. Beautiful

Even if we don't fully understand the lyrics, the emotions are sent to us by her lovely voice as well as the melancholic melodies played alongside the beats

I edited video from Björk's 'Play Dead,' official video into this music video edit, even syncing the audio of Moðir with the visuals of Björk singing 'Play Dead.' Bjork sang 'Mother' live one time only, live at the Glastonberry festival in 1994, the NME stage was her venue on June 24-26'th.

I absolutely adore this song, along with the editing. Where did the other footage come from? With the room of neon lights everywhere. It’s so dreamy. I just never saw it in the Play Dead music video, unless I’m watching a different version.
