The Star Spangled Banner's lyrics were written by Francis Scott Key and were set to an existing song by John Stafford Smith.

Each summer, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young musicians from across the country (ages 16-19) to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). In 2014, following a two-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers will be joined by conductor David Robertson and violinist Gil Shaham for an eight-city coast-to-coast US tour. That's because the country used to be a US Colony set up for African Americans in the US to return back to Africa (post abolition of slavery) if they so wished. Some did and eventually they declared their own independence. Just like the US hoped for. Liberia isn't exactly like the United States though. Just similar set up

Being a disabled Veteran, the National Anthem never fails to bring tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. We owe our freedom to the millions, I mean MILLIONS, of people who have served this country to 1) win our freedom, and 2) to keep it. Freedom is not free. Millions have died to ensure your freedom. NEVER forget that!

Exactly. Many use different instruments, or switch up the notes, or even go off beat which is horrible. This is the only one I know that is perfect, and this is a YOUTH band.

Low brass more diaphragm support, fuller sound w/o going into triple f during the ascending scale @ :42 and again at :60. This is where the chill goes up your spine. This is a great example of my favorite style and rhythm for the Star Spangled Banner. Great post !
