    Very impressive, but think about the people you don't see who made the forms and cut all the lumber to be assembled. They're the only reason it all went so smoothly.

      True William but much of that can be cut and fabricated in a clean dry climate controlled factory using computer controlled machine tools. 🤷🏻🧙🏻‍♂️
      Not on site in the elements.
      Though traditional this is a pre cut modular assembly ...probably sold as a modular house kit, Impressive.
      🇬🇧🧙🏻‍♂️ Many traditional British houses and modern replica versions are Oak framed buildings, built by dry joints and wooden pegs or wedges to lock the joints in place. The limit is the supply of high grade rot resistant timber globally for the frames.. but that is where modern wood chemical engineering comes in converting soft woods into superior highly resistant timber. Like Inventwoods Metelwood and the simpler Dutch Accoya system . 👍🏻
      All good as they are none toxic, renewable resource based and lock up CO2 for many decades or centuries 🤞🏻.

    This is fascinating to watch. One question though….the vertical posts appear to be just sitting on top of the concrete blocks which in turn are just sitting on the concrete slab. Is there some form of fastening done that we didn’t see, or is it just the weight of the structure that holds it in place?

    • @197One

    • @daver4874
      @daver4874 Před 7 měsíci +3

      There must be some steps that we didn't get to see. There's no way they can only be relying on the weight of the structure to hold it down. The first tiny earthquake could knock the whole damn house right off it's foundation. Also we didn't see them install any kind of moisture barrier which unless they've very little water in Korea, would also be necessary.

    • @dennislopez1272
      @dennislopez1272 Před 3 měsíci +1

      They definitely skipped some steps that are code requirements in the States. Not having it secured to the foundation being the most startling.

    The house 🏠 seems small yet the used of exclusive materials are huge. Indian system of building such wooden houses is very much different from Korean styles. Just wooden bars to lays CGI sheets and inside separate ceiling is to be done. Or else there is not so much installation of each layers on top of the roofs. Small but very expensive house. Westerner also are seen building the same way as Korean does. 🙏

    한옥은 미적 감성에선 나무랄 데 없지만 유지 관리가 힘들고 설치류, 지네 등에 취약하고 20년 30년이 되면 우리나라 기후같은 눈비바람 많고 습기가 많은 곳에선 변형이 잘돼 썩 추천할 만한 건축물이 못되는 게, 할아버지께서 지으신 6칸겹집에서 살아본 저의 짧은 소견입니다. 그리고 전통적인 구들장 온돌로 지었다가 동파이프 바닥난방, 입식부엌, 수세식화장실로 개조해서 쓰고있지만 당시 공법으로는 외풍, 단열을 감안하지 못하던 시절이라 이점이 최대 난적이었더랬습니다. 요즘엔 외풍, 단열을 염두에 두고 시공을 한다지만 이게 한옥의 최대 맹점이지요. 그래서 외관만 한옥으로 하고 내부는 거의 철벽을 쳐 최신식 단열공법으로 짓지않나 생각합니다.

    Looks good, but very poorly efficient in terms of structure. The cantilevered edges of the roof can not support for long the heavy weight of the tiles without bending. This is a structural problem in traditional Korean carpentry : the 3 sides assembly of the beams and pillars looks good, but it's an heresy in terms of construction because the beams are too much weakened by the cuts. Another structural problem is the cracks that will appear soon (especially in winter) between the wooden pillars and the hearth walls : this ruins the insulation, and air flows makes the house dusty.

      한국집은 가정집에서 거의 난로를 사용하지 않는다. 특히 난로는 열 효율이 극단적으로 낮은 난방방식이라 이미 최소 7000년 이상 전에 한국인들이 포기한 집 난방방식이다. 7000년 전의 바닥난방 유적 흔적들이 발견되곤 한다. 가장 합리적인 추론은 마지막 빙하기 상태를 버티기 위해 고대인들이 열효율을 높이기 위해 고안한 것이라 여겨지고 있다. 난로를 사용하는 경우는 야외 또는 열 효율이 낮는 것이 인정되는 직장 또 아주 가난해 바닥난방을 사용할 수 없는 집에나 사용된다. 가장자리를 처마라고 하는데, 이는 비와 바람을 막는 역할을 한다. 보통 더 길게 하지만 저건 짧은 형태다. 그렇게 하는 이유는 비 바람 특히 태풍 같은 상황이 닦치더라도 담장안의 공기를 비교적 안정적으로 유지할 수 있도록 하기 위해서다. 이건 겪어 봐야 알 수 있다.

    방수 방열 방풍이 너무 완벽하면 공기 순환에 문제 없나 한옥의 장점이 숨을 쉬는 거주공간이 장점. 아파트와 뭐가 다른가 !!!
