First of all, your free healthcare in Europe is not really free when you pay 40 to 50% of your income on taxes , plus 23 % VAT on consumption .That leaves you little disposable income for investments .Second , most Europeans live in small rental apartments in densely packed cities that are in short distance of each other .My understanding is that most don't own cars due to the insane high taxes on cars and thus rely on public transportation.Contrast that with the US , our employer offers us private health insurance as a benefit package ( we have some out of pocket expenses but it's manageable as salaries are higher here than in Europe) .USA is the size of a continent , everything is spread out and most people live in the suburbs , some close , some far from a large urban center.Contrary to what Europeans believe , big American cities have metro, light rail , commuter trains that travel to suburban towns , buses and ferry boats .
People love to live in leafy sprawling suburban towns , in their own single family homes with 2 car garage and large front and back yard. Moreover , our highway and roadway infrastructures are excellent and robust, the envy of the world .Most households own at least 2 cars, and we love the privacy it affords us.Lastly we llove our private healthcare system , albeit expensive. We don't want to be like Europe and I wish Europeans would quit trying .Peace

A better question: every American can afford a gun... but can every American afford health insurance? 3. Everything is bigger... why are there so many overweight people in America? 4. I´m German too and I often do exactly this on my way home from work. First to the gas station, buying there 2 or three cans of beer and drinking them while driving home.
This is the reason why I always have toilet paper in my car. After finishing a beer there´s always a little rest of beer in the can, I then take a sheet of toilet paper stuff it in the can so that it soaks up the little rest of beer. Then I throw the can in the footwell on the nearside.
