  • Ever wondered what the doc huts look like on the Heaphy Track? This video gives you a tour of all Heaphy Track huts to give you an idea about what accommodation on the Heaphy Track looks like.
    If you are looking to book accommodation for the Heaphy Track, this video is a must-watch!
    Doc huts that are mentioned in this video: Heaphy Hut, Lewis Hut, James Mackay Hut, Saxon Hut, Gouland Downs Hut, Perry Saddle Hut and Brown Hut.
    Some doc huts provide luxuries such as flushing toilets, lights, amazing views and near-new facilities!
    Other doc huts are a bit older, but not less cozy.
    It depends what you are looking for, but the price for each hut is the same and you might as well find the accommodation you are looking for on the Heaphy Track. That way there are no surprises when you start hiking!
    I hope you enjoy this video and that it provides value to you. I hiked the Heaphy Track in March 2020, just before lockdown. I am working hard to finish the videos :D
    This video is part of my Heaphy Track series. More videos are coming soon! Stay tuned :D

    Thanks, enjoyed watching! Walked the Heaphy track back in April 97, from Brown hut to Karamea. It was absolutely awesome, loved it. Probably my favourite track, despite more stunning ones such as Routeburn and Abel Tasman. Would love to do it again one day. Wonder if my comments are still in the Intentions Book in the huts!

      Glad you enjoyed it! It has been one of my favourites too. They even have solar lighting in some of the huts now 😀😀...I couldn't believe it

      Thank you! Well, if everyone thinks about the next person, then it is always clean 😁. Also, there are rangers that maintain these huts...😁

      It is absolutely amazing on the Great Walks in New Zealand. Some huts have flushing toilets and even solar powered lights 🙀😁

    So no bathrooms, toilets, pretty sure we had some basic toilets in the late 70s when we did the 3 day hike but the cabins were free then, much upgraded now I see from your vidio, so how were the toilets if any ? Thanks.

    What's the price to stay in one of these?

    • @DorisHikingAdventures
      @DorisHikingAdventures  Před 4 lety

      They are actually the cheapest of all the Great Walks in NZ - at the moment they are about $35NZD per night. Camping is i think $15, not sure. But on the heaphy track it is totally worth the upgrade.
      For example, to stay in the huts on the Milford Sound Track, you will pay $150 per night as a tourist 😱
      On non-great walks, it is usually $15 per night and $5 for camping 😁
      Does this answer your question? 😆😆
