  • In another instance of violence against Northeastern people, three youth from Nagaland were allegedly thrashed and injured by eight persons for refusing to have drinks with the attackers at Sikenderpur in Gurgaon Wednesday (Oct. 14) night. While two Naga youths sustained severe injuries on different parts of their bodies, the other suffered minor injuries. One of them identified as James, a call centre employee, had his hair cut by the attackers, police said. According to the Station House Officer of DLF Phase 1 Police Station, the James, his call centre colleague, whose name was not disclosed by police, and Aayug, an unemployed youth were living in a rented room at Sikenderpur. Eight youth belonging to Sikenderpur village got into a heated argument with them when the trio refused to have drink with them. They then beat up the Naga youth and cropped Jamess hairs, he said. The Naga youth were admitted in Gurgaon Civil Hospital where they underwent a medical examination this morning, said the SHO. James, alias Alato, has been referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for further treatment. The police lodged an FIR on the basis of the medical report and the victims' statements. The SHO said some of the culprits have been identified and "we would soon arrest all of them." Expressing concern over growing incidents of assault on northeastern people, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he would take up the issue with concerned state governments, particularly Karnataka where three northeastern students were assaulted for not speaking in Kannada, for strict action against the culprits. "I will talk to the Karnataka Chief Minister. Action should be taken. No one can discriminate against anyone on the basis of caste, creed and sect," Singh told reporters in Manesar near Gurgaon. The Home Ministry wrote to Haryana government seeking a report on the incident and the steps taken to apprehend the accused. In a communication to Haryana government, the Home Ministry said steps should be taken immediately against the guilty and the report detailing the incident should be sent as early as possible.
In a debate moderated by TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, panelists -- Priyanka Chaturvedi, Spokesperson, Congress; Nupur Sharma, Member Natl Exceutive, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha; Binalaxmi Nepram, Social Activist; Dr Alana Gonmei, Founding Member & Secy, North East Support Centre and Helpline; Rahul Easwar, Social Activist; Ritabrata Banerjee, MP Rajya Sabha, CPI (M) -- discuss whether #RacistShame is a big blot on urban India.

People in the states of northeast India, including Arunachal Pradesh, whose major territory is claimed by the China as part of South Tibet, were severely discriminated against by other regions of India, since residents there look more like Chinese than Indians. The girls from northeast India, simply because their lighter skin color and their eye's often become targets of rapists. Over the years, India fails to invest any capital into these regions, resulting in their economic development severely lagging behind the rest of the country. Because of that, people from these states are always seeking independence, many of whom want to join China.
Why don’t India gives the NE part to China, so Chinese can give a good lesson to Delhi????
China should step in and take the northest indian states. Indians from different states hate each other, then What is the point to maintain one India?
northeast states should merge with China, the former for communism and cultural affinity and the latter for ethnic composition. It is enough with Hindustani rule. They will enjoy more prosperous development .
China should take over this province. They will be treated in a more civilized manner.
When china fighted with India in 1962, no one citizen was harrased by the Chinese army. People from Assam and Arunachal treated the Indian army who fled away from war at their best. Ask any any veteran from the 1962 war. But the sad part is that Indian army raped woman from 13 years old girl to 60 years old lady during battles against the local militant of NE, as if they have been told that NE is a colony of India. India always dominated North east people and India will lose northeast one day it will be a China state in future. northeast people never take China support to fight with India but the time has come.

Hi Firstly understand what is racist & racism Hello Miss. why did NE People always thinking of NE People or theirself only why don't don't they think others.NE are not only one who face such a problem & they are not complaining to others like you NE people do now see how I would say that Indians are not as racist as you think, but that is only by a technicality. Being racist essentially means that you discriminate people on the basis of their race (which is often by colour). Now there is discrimination alive in our country on the basis of colour. Anyone who watches T.V. will have seen the 'Fair & Lovely' ad (or the more recent 'Fair & Handsome' ads), not to mention those numerous classifieds where bride is described to have 'wheatish' complexion (because heavens forbid that they be dark!). So while we are certainly fixated on 'fairness', the kind of discrimination that you face is less. And I won't even bother starting off on the manners we dish out to our North Eastern states (I have often felt that they are the sanest people in our Nation!).
Now if we decide to chuck the technicality, I am ashamed to say that we are undoubtedly VERY racist. We treat people from different states differently. I have been at the receiving end. I was discriminated by Kannadigas because I am a Malayali (a mallu as commonly known). Now if we go to the northern regions, both of us are discriminated as 'madrasis'. And no... we are not the victims alone. You can ask a mallu what their take on any North Indian or Tamilian is. You will find an equally discriminatory answer. The sad thing is that while our fixation with colour never leads to isolation all that much, the fact that you are from a certain state will certainly lead to that.
We crack jokes on 'Sardars', put down Biharis, say 'Madrasis' are uncouth, think 'Nexis' (our college term for people from NE) are full of loose women and that 'Gujjus' are money-minded misers, think... Yes folks... Welcome to Incredible India!
The only way to overcome these thoughts is to actually get to know different people. You will meet some of the most intelligent and proud people among the Sardars. A Bihari can make you laugh with their jokes on Lalu! A Madrasi will teach you that KFC is not the only cuisine that is 'Finger lickin good'. A Nexi can teach you on how you need NOT live in a metro to be forward in you thinking. A Gujju can teach you how to follow a passion (a certain Gujju still owes me a proper treat though!). Yes folks... Welcome to Incredible India!
When we interact with different types of people we develop understanding and is the only way to stop discrimination.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS A HUE-N-CRY OVER ON RACISM WHICH IS ACTUALLY NOT IN REALITY NE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE CHANGE THERE MENTALITY FIRST. EVERY PERSON U FIND RACIST IN INDIA NE ALSO INDIAN CITIZEN WHY DID NE PEOPLE DENIED IT WHY WHY ?" I REQUESTED TO U DON'T SEE ALL INDIANS IN A ONE VISION EVRYONE KNOWS THAT WHAT IS HAPPENED IN USA WITH BLACK PEOPLE DURING OLDEN DAYS
