What happened to Reggae Music in Nigeria?

Reggae music was a dominant genre in the Nigerian music scene in the 80s producing stars like Terra Kota, Majek Fashek, Ras Kimono, The Mandators, Evi-Edna Ogoli, Alex Zito, Maxwell Udoh, Best Agoha, Dready Samaico, Orits Wiliki, and others.
The rise of the genre was buoyed by the need for a voice by the masses in the struggle against Military rule. The situation in South Africa over the Apartheid regime was at its peak and Nigerian artistes were at the forefront of the struggle through music with Sony Okosun leading the charge.
Toward the end of that decade, the genre suffered a decline which also coincided with the slump in the Nigerian music industry.
