Today, I was begging God to help me to put Him and His Kingdom first and help me to eliminate any idols in my life that kept me from him. I was pouring my heart out to Him telling Him that I felt like I wasn't going to be able to study his word properly, that i was so overwhelmed by how much there was to learn and how I can't really go to a church right now (my parents are Hindus and I haven't told them that I am Christain yet) and i was going through this journey alone and i was just so overwhelemd, but i found this video and i think God led me to it, God is so faithful and good! Dear Pooja, I am a youth leader in my church and had experience same thing with one of my youth. She was a secret Christian and her family was really strict about their HINDU religion and we had to face a lot of challenges through the course of time. But after 7 years of prayers and dedication a miracle happened and her all family all of the family members believed in Christ and now they are a happy family huge joint family in Christ. The lords is watching you and all you are going through.......... stay strong and keep faith on. The miracle is on the way. Will be praying for you.
Be open with your parents about your belief and love for Jesus. It is the mission of every Christian to spread the word. This is more effective through good works reflecting Gods will and verbally. Pray for your parents to see the truth
I was a christian in my younger years. As I hit 16-19 yrs old I started to disbelieve and stray away from God and question if it was real. After going to church however and watching these videos it made me remember how beautiful the bibles stories are and how beautiful God is. It made me realize that this is the moral framework our society as a whole has been straying from and we need it back! God has a plan for all of us... I want to be a christian again!

I just made the connection! Jesus and Lazarus’ relationship is symbolic of his relationship with his children now. Jesus knew raising him would cost him his own, but the pure love he had for his friend was so strong that he did it anyway. Jesus!
I have been a Christian for decades but I have to say that This video presentation of The Gospel of John has revealed key information which until now had entirely escaped me, i.e. the Raising of Lazarus and Christ laying HIS life down for HIS friend- okay NOW I GET IT! :D

Elizabeth, can you point to any verse in the NT where the Jews got it right about Jesus? I can't. Yet we are being told they got it right here in spite of the testimony of Jesus in vs 4 where He states that Lazarus' condition it is for the glory of God so that the Son of God may be glorified through it, and in vs 42 where He states that they (the people present) may believe that you sent me.
This video is only an overview, to really understand the verses, or any verse, one has to get to the meaning of the individual Greek words used. For instance the Greek word John used for Jesus weeping is different than the Greek word he used for everyone else in the passage.

Many Jews didn't get it right and/or refused to however SOME Jews DID, otherwise there wouldn't have been a Church composed of both Believing Jews and Gentiles, and GOD wouldn't still be adding to it those who are being saved.

The capital "J" on the word Jew was put there not so much by literary rules as it was by God for the attitude of the members of this succinct group themselves. They were proud and arrogant as any Pharisee because they were God's "chosen" people not like the gentile dogs that they had to interact with or even the poor, illiterate people who were constantly defiling their religious purity. They could not see the log in their own eye, so they could also not see Jesus for who He is. Yet we are led to believe that they got it right in a Gospel where the Apostle John is trying to show the Jesus is the Christ, the son of God? See Martha's testimony in 11:27 or just read the first chapter of John's Gospel.
This does not discount, nor am I trying to discount, the work that the Bible project is doing which will, God willing, affect thousands of unbelievers in their search for truth. We don't get the truth all at one time which is why it is called a search. Then again, our puny minds couldn't even comprehend the truth all at once. We do, on the other hand, get the Truth (John 14:6) all at once.
Yesterday i wanted to start studying the book of John, so What better place than The Bible Project to start. yesterday i went through all the videos i couldn't find John. Today out of no where i get this notification about the Book of John , Thanks alot :) God answers prayers :)

The book of John is a myth written about a Jesus that was a gentle Jew who was unable to be filled with the Holy Spirit, for only those of the house of Israel and the house of Judah are able to receive according to the book of Joel.He was rejected in death when he died for the sins of the whole world when the Lord God of Israel died just 24 hours later. Gerald Collins Wow. You seem to have quite an argument there. But I disagree. Jesus was the son of God who died on the cross for the sins of those who believe him. Anyways all of the gospels fit together while they were written by different people. Which leads me to my next point, Jesus did not write the gospel. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John did. That is why Jesus is presented in 3rd person. I hope you get this.

I never considered the story of Jesus raising Lazareth from the dead demonstrated anything other than Jesus's power to perform miracles. Because of the danger to Christ in Jerusalem, this act is also an example of Jesus willingness or lay down his life for his friend.

I just watched again Bible Project’s animated video on The Gospel of John, Part One. Today, something different stood out for me, and I was very moved. It was in the very first part that discussed the existence of the pre-incarnate Christ - His presence as the “Word” in Creation, and His presence in the Exodus as the Tabernacle of God. This impacted me differently as I pondered the glory of God’s ultimate revelation of Himself in Jesus Christ. It’s a moment of grace when the Holy Spirit provides a fresh revelation of Scripture. That happened to me this morning. A “glimpse behind the curtain”, so to speak, of the glory of God. thank you, Bible Project, for your faithful handling of the Word of God, and thank you, Lord, for Your gracious Spirit.
I’m on a mission to reading the books of the Bible at random based on my interest and curiosity. This is a wonderful introduction to the first Book of John. God bless the creatives behind this Channel.

Notice something really cool. I am a Bible student at a college in my home state, and we have been taught that 7 is the number of completion and so therefore kinda makes it the Lords number. I thought it was cool that in the beginning of John, Jesus was given 7 titles, who describe Him perfectly. Though it was cool, nothing life altering but cool.

The people back then saw Jesus performing miracles and doubted him. His own brothers doubted him. He walked on water and calmed the storm and they doubted him. This generation has turned from him. I believe. Always will. We are here to follow him for he is the good shepherd

The section on Lazarus was very enlightening. I had never considered that raising Lazarus was, in essence, also a sacrifice. To return to Jerusalem, at His own pace, not only allowed the crowd to be certain of Lazarus's death, and subsequent resurrection, it demonstrated Christ's divinity as healer, as life-giver and sacrificial lamb, for His friend and friends (humanity). Thank you for this tiny, overlooked detail.

I find reading very boring and I, like many, am a visual learner so these videos are very exciting and make me actually want to read more in the bible. The Bible Project in the first picture at around 16seconds The Disciple Jesus Loved is not found in John 19:34-37 but 19:26-27. So very small, yet very important to be precise. 'Who, then, is the faithful and wise servant whom his master has made ruler at the head of his household, to give them food in due season?
46 Joyful is that servant whom his master, in his coming, will find doing this.

Hosea 6/9 And as gangs of robbers lie in wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the road by consent, for they commit lewdness.
Matthew 24/48[foolish virgin judaized] But if that evil servant should say in his heart, "My master delays to come," 49
and should begin to beat the fellow servants [wise virgins], and to eat and drink with the drunkards[to kill the Son of Man, the Son of God Set Apart by the Blood & Oil of Jesus], 50
the master[Son of Man, Bridegroom Set Apart by Jesus] of that servant [wise virgin] will come in a day in which he[foolish virgin] does not expect, and in a hour he[foolish virgin] is not aware of, 51 and he[Bridegroom] will cut him [foolish virgin] in two, and assign his[Judaized foolish virgin] portion with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Jesus prophesying the Son of Man would be anointed by his blood and oil and knew it took two sacrifices for atonement
John 6/53 So Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you unless you [kill] eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in you. [Rev 19/17...'Come and gather yourselves together for the feast of the Mighty God, 18 so that you can eat the flesh of kings and flesh of commanders of a thousand and flesh of the Mighty men.]
54 He[Bridegroom] who feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eonian life, and I will raise him up in the last day.[Because the foolish virgins kill him]
55 For my flesh most truly is food, and my blood most truly is drink. 56 He[Bridegroom] who feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
Psalm 109/18 As He clothed himself with a cursing as with his garment, so let it go like water into his bowels, and like oil into his bones.
John 6/57 'As the living Father authorized me, and I live through the Father, the one feeding on me will also live through me. 58 This is that bread come down from Heaven, not comparable to how your fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread[Son of Man/Bridegroom but as a wise virgin who believes and doesn't kill him] will live throughout the eon
"Logos" doesn't just mean "Word", in Greek, but also "Reason". It was already a concept theorized in Greek Natural Philosophy as "The Divine Order" according to which the Cosmos was created. It Is fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ Is The Logos. ☦⛪🕯

The book of John is one long lie and is of no value for he is dead and in hell as the son of Satan if you really read the book of John. Only those perishing in John 3:16 hope that this false messiah is able to convert them to be the sons of God. He has yet to make one son of God as the book says.

You guys are doing a great job! I'm a pastor in France and love the quality videos. I do have however a suggestion for improving: you could introduce each video with a small caveat: "This is a way of organizing the book that makes lot's of sense, but it's not perfect. You need to study the book on your own to see that _____ (insert name of Bible book) is even richer than we can show in this video."
I say this because, the danger of these wonderful videos is that they become the standard ways of understanding a book for many christians and the sleek presentations don't show the complexity of some of the divisions.
Take the example of John 1-12 (the video I'm commenting):
• You could seriously argue whether the "Sacred well" in Samaria (John 4) is really a "Jewish institution".
• Organizing the book in 4 Jewish institutions and then 4 Jewish Feasts ignores what John himself calls Jesus' Second Sign (Jn 4:54)
• In a similar fashion, having summarized things into 4 Jewish Feasts makes it very unclear what is the purpose of John 10a where Jesus says he is the Good Shepherd.
I'll stop there. No idea if you'll read this. Please DON'T take it as a negative feedback. It's a brother who loves your videos and just is concerned that your massive influence in the world is the best it can be!
