- @charlie418791 hosted the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. We were excited to join in and create something we hoped would be a nice tribute to those that participated in the invasion of France. What better way to express our appreciation than a paratrooper model kit from Glencoe Models.
Many have commented about how inaccurate the model was and I agree. changing the model to be more correct was outside of my time limits for this project.
Once the project was underway, it became very apparent figure painting was well outside of my wheel house. However! that all said, we hit upon the idea of making the model look as if it were a bronze statue on display in a town square.
Hope you enjoy the video.

Thank you to ALL who have served our country!
very well presented Bryan. the bronze statute idea really works well for this kit. excellent job. Take care and all the best to you and Mrs BG✌👍👍👍👍
Hi Rick! Thank you so much! I will pass that on to Mrs BG! 😁
Awesome work getting it look statuesque. That bronze and weathering really did the trick.💥👍💥
Thank you Dave!! 😁🙏 It was a lot of fun to figure out how to go about doing that.
That figure looks like it weighs 10lbs. A fitting tribute on this heroic day. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Alan!! Right?! Maybe I should add some weight to it? 😁
Well done Bryan, an interesting finish as a statue. A worthy tribute.
Thank you Brian!! ☺️
Hi Bryan. Your bronze paratrooper statue looks great. I think it was an excellent choice to do him that way. It is impressive.
Thank you Vince!!!😁🙏 My skills go figure painting just weren't there yet and the model was so rough, it felt right to go with the statue idea. Especially since there is no parachute
Excellent job on this "vintage" Glencoe kit Bryan! I have the old Monogram Vietnam Memorial kit and was thinking of doing the same paint scheme on that kit. Enjoy the weekend and stay cool.🥶☀🌡

Hi Tom! Oh I think you should my friend! That would definitely be a cool build! Please share photos when you finish it.
Great job!! I built the Dracula kit way back in the 60's. That taught me I was NOT a figure painter! lol
Hi Johnny! I totally bet it man! I may try figure painting soon. But hands down, this one was NOT the kit to go forward with that.
That figure tuned out amazing! Love it!👏👏
Thank you so much!! 😁🙏
Fantastic work, Bryan 👍 You really captured the bronze look 😎
Thank you so much Greg!!!I appreciate you sir! 🙏
Outstanding work looks fantastic, this just looks like a proper statue, welldone
Thank you so much Martin!! 😁🙏 I sort of feel this would look at home in the town square in Normandy.
Absolutely OUTSTANDING buddy!! Awesome tribute!!!
Thank you Mark!! 🙏😁 I sort of want to do try this again on another build!
Superb work with this model. Excellent executed, Bryan.
Greetings, Joachim
Thank you Joachim! I appreciate you for the kind comments!🙏
Great video and fantastic model. You have gone from modeler to artist. Absolutely love it.
Hi George! Thank you sir! I truly appreciated you for saying that. 🙏😁
It looks great as a bronze statue, nicely done.
Thank you Steve!!!😁🙏
This is a bigger chappie than I thought. Come out very nice Bryan.
Thanks Cal!! 😁 Yes it's a large scale, no idea what it is, but it seems to be around 1/16th maybe.
Looks great!👍
Jman
Thank you!!! 😁😁
Looks great Bryan 😃
Thanks my friend!! 😀 It was so much fun to try that new painting technique!
Nicely done sir
Thank you Sean!! 🙏😁
Such a cool idea to make it into a sculpture look instead of painting it up like a person. I really like this a lot!
Thank you so much!!😁🙏 The texture of the model really felt like something that was a cast piece. So the surface texture really picked up the dry brushing well.
It looks awesome, brother!! ✌️😁
Thank you Steve!! 🙏☺️
Beautiful work Sir.
Thank you Mars!!😁
Amazing work man!! I love it.
Thank you Joe!! 🙏😁
Very cool looking!

Thank you Justin!! 😊
I'm glad you got some paint on your figure. It turned out awesome unlike your hands. Better go wash up. Thanks BG
Hi Sam! Lol, the price I pay for building and not being able to find my gloves 😁
Very cool I have the Glencoe locomotives model kits haven't built them still in the box
Hi Carl, I did not know Glencoe made locomotive models?! 😳😮
@@BGsModelWorkshop they are probably 15 or more years old
