- Day TWO of Dumpster Diving during college move out! The dumpsters are still a little low since they were just put out, but we can tell it's going to be a crazy year! When the students move out of the dorms, so many usable items get thrown away unnecessarily. We make it our mission to rescue as much as possible before it gets to the landfill - and today we found some really great things!!

It amazes me how much these kids throw away every year my kid is in college and we reuse everything each year
That's because mommy and daddy pay for everything. They don't care.
Or they could be foreign students.
That's because you taught your kids right.
As a parent, if I were buying their college items, I would not be pleased at all
The yoga mat is a Neal pad for gardening
These dives are so interesting, its so exciting to see what you find. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with you diving, you save so much that can still be used rather than fill the landfill. You never make a mess & you get along so good, you are the perfect couple. I still laugh at the past video when security was following you in the golf cart & Alex said, "Whoop, whoop!" Keep it up & thanks for sharing with us, I know how much work it actually is once you get it home & sort through.
What you should do is when no one is looking, jump in and 1 of you guys just start throwing the good stuff over to the other (not heavy things, obviously) but clothes and light things. Then get out quilt
They have done that in the past not sure why there not anymore .
Last year, or the year before, they were told not to get in by the police.

I just read an article about a free store in Knoxville Tennessee. They are encouraging all the college kids to bring unwanted items during move out to the free store instead of trashing them!!! I thought, yes!!!!!, finally!! ❤️

You can often find those microwave glass plates at the thrift store.
This is such hard work to keep doing this, with all the washing and sorting and rehoming of items afterwards. Well done Kelly and Alex. I really admire your energy and determination

The white thing is a drying rack for clothes not a baby gate and the grey squares with zippers in the bottom are ikea drawer organizers. Great job saving things from the landfill! Love watching you guys

Great job Kelly and Alex. We love college move out season! There was a comment that a store maybe used the dumpster before and the signs weren’t taken off. Great catch for that viewer who did the research! And yes it’s a shame that more recycling isn’t involved to move items to needy people!🥰

I am glad you save this stuff. I live in a university city in the UK and the amount of good stuff that gets thrown away is appalling. The uni should accept stuff and hold it for the new term in a storage unit for the students who cannot afford to buy all that stuff and then any excess should be donated.😊

Dumpster diving is legal in Louisiana so I don’t know why people freak out about it. You’re throwing it in the trash anyways.
I think for liability reasons. If someone jumps in and there is something sharp and they injure themselves, they could sue the dumpster company and/or the school. So I don't blame them for putting up signs. Unfortunately, because of people suing for their own stupidity and not looking where they are going it has become necessary to do this. Love the channel!

Those big foam pieces are great for reupholstering stools or chairs, or for adding extra padding to saggy couch seat cushions.
I think people don't buy the foam because it looks dirty and it reminds them of what they use in an old person's bed to prevent sores

I love these and the white thing you keep calling a baby gate is actually a clothes drying rack you can stand over the tub or stand up inside the house/ appointment/ dorm room to save space so when you can't get to a dryer or have stuff that isn't supposed to go into the dryer you can unfold it so it looks like a ladder and lean it agents a wall too so you did good getting it some people like me do use them still and I can't wait to see what you guy's find next see you in your next video

Suggestion:: if y'all have a harbor freight, they have truck bed nets that hold things in yr truck bed so you could toss more in 👍

Our neighbors moved, gave us cleaning products and unopened packages of food. We shared with family members. They donated lots of stuff first. Near O'Hare.

The white thing is a clothes drying rack. Might actually be beneficial to you guys when needing to dry some things that you don't want to put in the dryer. And easy to store, next to your dryer, or hang on the wall. I love Bones' little yoga mat. Now he can get his stretchees on. :) I'm guessing that big fire pit thing will get picked up by a scrapper. Doubt it would be setting next to the dumpster if they didn't intend to toss it. Just too heavy to toss in. lol I understand the hesitation in not taking it though. I bet a scrapper came and picked up the weight set.

Should look into purchasing a power inverter that can be plug into cigarette lighter to convert DC to AC power so you can plug in electronics to test if they turn on.
