Actually it is triple as 1 Singaporean Dollar equivalent to 3.50 Ringgit Malaysia, therefore many Malaysians who are low skill workers living in Johor Bahru (JB) and commute everyday as it just crossing the bridge over, compared to living in SIngapore which is one of the most expensive city to live in the world, mostly for accom due to limited space in tiny island. In 1970s and 1980s Malaysians used to shopping in Singapore but since 1990s it is on the way around, nearly 7 millions visitors from Singapore visiting Malaysia every year just for excursion, dining and shopping.

I have been to Singapore a few times - once via JB as well.
In terms of halal food, the restaurants along the marina where the Merlion is located don't serve Halal food generally so what I suggest is take the MRT from Marina Bay Sands to Bugis MRT (only 2 stops) which will take you to Sultan Masjid and Haji Street and right there are plenty of Halal restaurants in abundance. There is a few Halal places in Little India as well.

The employment of foreign manpower is deliberate strategy to enable Singapore to grow beyond what their indigenous resources can produce. As Singapore transit to a knowledge economy, it needs to ensure that the manpower augmentation policies remain relevant and effective. So to maximize the economic benefits of immigration while minimizing its social and economic costs, Singapore has been selectively open its doors to people from countries that bore CULTURAL SIMILARITY to the local population. If you drive Malaysian car into Singapore during weekdays, there is a $20 charge per day (they give 14 days free if not mistaken). In addition, there is a massive jam during the peak hour to come in and go out of Singapore. Unless you can avoid that, then you can stay in Malaysia.

    • @mayleelim5515
      @mayleelim5515 Před měsícem +1

      That is the VEP
But it is only chargeable on weekdays not on weekends & public holidays
Also there are other charges about under SGD10 each time you cross OUT of Singapore by car
Then there is road toll charges if you trigger them. For each day you trigger the road toll charges ERP then you are charged SGD5 for unlimited ERP charges per day
Make sure you have sufficient funds & top up your AUTOPASS card before leaving otherwise they will make you return into Singapore to find a place to top up
Your car’s AUTOPASS is your car’s passport/identity card/bank card for your car. Entering car parks with Autopass. When you entered Singapore with your card, you would have been required to insert your autopass into a machine reader at the counter you handed your passports for verification or QR code. Similarly when you exit. And it is at this point, all your car charges are tallied. ERP, VEP, entry & exit charges!

I happen to know Malaysians and Singaporeans who commute to work on a daily basis, especially between JB and SG (CBD) just to save money by taking advantage of the current exchange rates. Quite a unique situation if I am honest.
In general commuting times on a ''good day/non peak'' is 1 hours each way. If not 2+ hours depending on the traffic at both sides. One would wake up at 5AM just to commute to work. Believe it or not there are even school children from primary to tertiary who do this.
The good thing is that RTS Link (metro train linking JB and SG) is under construction and is expected to complete in 2026. At least it will alleviate passenger volume/flow for the cross border commuters on top of the current transportation options. One could even enter SG by just scanning a QR form at the checkpoint in order to save time (provided if the person is a frequent commuter, have their passport with them, done their preregistration via ICA).

It is obvious why someone would choose to work in Singapore because the wages are much higher, not just about the exchange rate. It doesnt double or triple up. Much more. A security guard in Singapore earns more than a doctor in Malaysia in govt service. But yes it is expensive living in Singapore so many do live in Johor Bahru and work in Singapore. The commute is very time consuming though during peak hours. It is ok for tourists as off peak it is a breeze. Can be across in half an hour

@@amin-dl2dn I went there a few months ago. Most cages were empty and very run down place. It is not worth 75 ringgit per person for tourists. For local, I guess the fee is very low which is why you feel worth the money. In comparison to other zoos/ bird parks, it is almost empty sorry to say.

I find it unjust the moment this video started. Ofc you're singing praises of Malaysia when you compare British pounds to Malaysian ringgit. I'd think Singapore is tiny but we've done so well since splitting from Malaysia. I still love Malaysia but Singapore deserved love, too. We're tiny and urban but it's impressive how Singapore dollars is 3.5x stronger than Malaysian ringgit. If that's not impressive, idk what is. Says alot of Johoreans willing to cross border work in Singapore earn our money and enjoy it back in JB

Why are we talking about politics and Israel on this video? Singapore is Singapore. Malaysia is Malaysia. No one forces anyone to do anything if your friend wants to move I seriously doubt its due to political reasons with gaza and Israel. Singapore's taking the peoples' money away like the wind? What? Spend your money wisely then, do savings, spend frugally..... don't blame the country. Singaporeans are still living in harmony amongst diff races, creed and religion. I have stayed in subang jaya for 2 years, 1 year in jakarta, 1 year in melbourne, 2 years in london, been to france, Turkey, dubai, the list goes on BUT nothing compare to Singapore. Transportation, cleanliness, safety are still one of the best. Nonetheless, to each its own. All the best to your

Great job of singapore making that artificial garden.
That's because the small island can't afford to keep forests.
Come back to Malaysia, there are ample of natural waterfalls and recreational forests.
In KL there is Templer Park (also with hot spring), Forest Research Institute in Kepong (with its own Botanical Garden and Skywalk).
While in Melaka there is a Botanical Garden next to the state zoo in Ayer Keroh, not far from thr Butterfly Park.
As to waterfalls look up for Air Terjun (translated in Malay language).
