- Learn how to find the lateral area and surface area of cones, pyramids, cylinders and prisms in this video math tutorial by Mario's Math Tutoring. We discuss the formulas and how to easily memorize the formulas by grouping cylinders and prisms together and cones and pyramids together. By knowing the general formulas and substituting the appropriate sub-formulas you can more easily work with finding the areas of these shapes. I also demonstrate where some of the formulas with a 3-D model of a prism and a cylinder. We go through 6 examples: square prism, triangular prism, hexagonal prism, cylinder, square pyramid and cone.

We’ve been doing this for a week in my pre-AP geometry and I’ve been so confusing my teacher does not know how to explain. Thank you so much Mario you cleared up the topic and now I can actually do my work. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much Mario, I was so confused on lateral area until I watched this
You’re welcome Blue Gaming!
I learn so much better with you than at school. I dont think i ll survive school without this
Thanks
You're a genius... Cramming for finals and this video cleared up so much that my teacher didn't explain thoroughly. Thank you so much!
Thank you! Im currently doing a surface area project for math class. We have to make a 3d object between 1500-1700cm squared, and I was thinking of doing a cylindar and a cone in it. This really helped me understand how to find the formula!
Thank you mr math guy i learned more about this in one minute than a week with my teacher and finals are tomorrow so thank you ❤️
Thank you sooo much Mario, I have a test tommorow and this helped a lot to review! Thank you!

Hello, I am Iraqi and I am in the foreign school, so I learn a lot from you
Thank you! This explained lateral surface (and total surface area) of prisms in a way that I could understand so that I can now teach my daughter.
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate you Mario
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!!
You’re welcome!
Thanks a lot..

I am talking which part of the cone is the lateral surface area?
Everything but that circular base.

Why is 25 in a square root
because if you see how the C is squared he has to get rid of that by square rooting it
