Good stuff!!
Your reaction was good too. Big fan of you guys too
Thanks guys! Appreciate you stopping by again! 💜
@@WonderMommaOG No problem!! Thank you!!
Airplay Beats loved your reaction!
His best song, imo, is "I don't care anymore".
Phil Collins has been a professional drummer for over 40yrs. Unfortunately for his fans, he has retired due to his age and medical issues. He is currently 73yrs old.
But fortunately for him, two of his sons, Simon and Nic, are carrying on his legacy by being equally amazing drummers in their own right. 😊 Simon with his projects Sound Of Contact and e-Molecule as well as his solo career and Nic with his bands Better Strangers and The Effect. 🙂 I've met Nic at an event in England last Christmas. A really nice guy.
It’s awful getting old. I am 57 and have watched as these absolute LEGENDS have become unable to perform or passed. They don’t make artists like this anymore.
I truly believe that there are people out there who do make great music. Music like this where they don't use autotune, play their own instruments and write their own songs. I just think they don't get record deals anymore. It's much easier to control an artist you have created then it is to control an actual artist. The handpick these people and create for them a public identity, a facade that is easily marketable. With auto-tune and music sampling, anyone can appear to be musically talented
I feel you as I am 56. Sucks getting old. I can’t believe OZZY is still kicking.
@@KaylaYeager-mz5sd Right? I figured with his lifestyle he would have long been in the grave.
I'm old as you are, and I know precisely what you mean.
But hey, we were so lucky to live those days, and enjoyn' the best years of music in the modern era.
So, let be it!
@@ninajones1175 I’m pretty sure I’m gonna shed a few tears when that time comes. Been a fan for over forty years. That man is gonna be missed by a💩load of people.
You have never done anything as smoothly in your life as this man got behind that kit and hit one of the most iconic drum licks ever. Just absurd.
Phil Collins is part of this generation of artists with whom I had the chance to grow up.
And Wonder MommaOG knows how to pay homage to them in an ever-so-grand way.
Show of hands, who else air drummed...
Great video again Momma!
Me! About 98 times! lol 😅
@@WonderMommaOG ha! Release that supercut footage
I’m a percussionist so I always listen for the drum solo 😂
I close my eyes and I'm transported back to the mid eighties, I'm 24 years old, and Miami Vice is blowing me away with this song. Glorious times❤
Me too i was 19 in mid 80s
That's actually what comes to mind for me, too
💬I know, I know. I did another live version first. 😅 In general, I prefer studio versions of most songs over live versions, unless I am in the same room with the artists. I plan on doing the studio version but the live version is probably one of the best live versions of a song I’ve seen on video. I want to wait a bit to do the studio so there are more reactors to use.
99% of the reactors have heard this song, but have not seen the live performance. That was another factor in why I did the live version first. This edit was particularly tough due to the audio waveform (not sure if that’s the technical term) was difficult to match up in the last half of the song. Plus I used a fair amount of different reactors.
Enjoy! ONTO THE NEXT! 💜
Thanks for all of your work WonderMommaOG, you're one of the best in this arena. You and Derek Brooks are my favorites. Appreciate you!
Awesome version WonderMommaOG. Great work. ❤
hey Momma, nice work as allways.......have you seen the peter gabriel live version of in your eyes?if not, please check it out for your enjoyment, and a possible video
Good choice on the live version... This hit SO hard! Man, him timing getting back to the drums is the second most boss move in one of your vids... First is, and always will be, Paz of A Perfect Circle putting her hair up during the middle break in Judith... Great job as always, keep em coming!
@@pukkoku D Brooks used to be my favourite, too...
Look. I've been watching CZcams for a LOOONG time, and I probably spent way too much time doing so still. That said, seeing people's reactions to Phil dropping this iconic drum fill during this live performance is still one of my favorite things to watch.
Oh yes. Absolutely. Someone had to do this. And the live version too. When Phil Collins walks around to the drums and goes off on them.
Chills every time…I can’t think of any other song that conveys such a clear sense of menace (in a good way), and this live version is exceptional. So sorry PC’s health has forced him to retire from performing, but at least we can still enjoy this video. Hope he is able to spend time with loved ones and enjoy the time he has. Great job, WMOG! ❤
This is what makes a great concert. You know the song but what they do with it live makes it special and worth the time and money.
Mike Tyson drumming that key set in The Hangover totally made this his own for me. Yup!
I always love watching people/ the "youngins" react to this video. Always makes me (as a 54yr) chuckle. Yep. Short, bald... and one HELL of a musician/entertainer. He's like fine wine... just getting better with age. To quote JLo... "my goosies have goosies". Welcome to the Air.
Im 56. Feeling the same
I am under 40, so one of the "youngins", but I new Phils music already when I was 12, all thanks to my dad who listened to this eras music all the time. And that had a great impact on my musics taste. So in short - play the music you like to your kids and it will always have a special space in their heart (even if they only realize it once they are older).
My son paid for me to go to this I still get chills he was the drummer in Genesis he took over after Peter Gabriel left he's also a great actor
Phil Collins is a treasure.
This is one of these songs that last forever, till the end of all times ❤
I’m confused that all of these reviewers (especially the majority who have heard the song before) are mind blown that he’s the drummer.
Phil Collins is first and foremost a drummer and producer. He was Genesis’ drummer from 1971. This, his first solo effort, came out in 1980. How, in 43 years has it escaped so many that he’s a drummer, and a revered one at that. He pioneered the drum sound of the 80s and 90s.
That said, I have to admit that the “he plays drums???” reveal is what makes these reactions compelling to me. Maybe liner notes (poured over as the album spun on the turntable) are the lost gems of a bygone era. They were meticulously written and actually imparted knowledge to the listener that’s overlooked today.
THIS SONG RULES
Got to see it live back in 2019, my first real concert
Being a man of this generation that the song came out in. I could not count the many times I have heard this beautiful iconic song play Phil Collins. And I have seen every one of these reaction videos individually. I have to say you edit them together very nicely. But the best reaction I've ever witnessed was it when I was at work one night security for a very large chain of grocery store. And I was up on the bridge looking at security monitors best people came in walking through the store doing their shopping is couples families individuals. I also was able to choose the music being played and this was one that happened to play. And if you know this song you know the drum drop. It is legend to this song alone. And I kid you not, when it came up, every single bro , which had to be at least seven.. all dropped what they we're doing. In one case let go of his entire basket of goods... And proceeded to knock out an air drum 🥁 in whatever aisle they were in. All of them in unison the Phil Collins. It was glorious to witness. And I knew right then and there this song was legend. And to see this compilation 40 years later gladly proved me right. Rock on.
That's a one-in-a-million type of moment! I can almost feel it from how you described it. Thanks for sharing.
This was a good song when it was first released. Two words that made it iconic, Miami Vice!
Did you know Collins actually had a role in the tv show? He was a special guest (the bad guy)!
@@michaeljennejohn8969 yes I did, he was a two bit hustler posing as a drug
dealer and then at the end of
The episode I believe he was a tv game show host. They always had musicians and athletes do guest appearances.
I'm one of the five people in the world who never watched Miami Vice...lol. This song came out my freshman year of high school, so I've known it well since then. I just never got into Miami Vice, and I'm pretty sure it was on television on like Friday night, so I wasn't home like my sister...lol.
@@paulwebster3417 I never watched the series myself growing up, but my mom did. I saw a video here on yt a while back that broke down all the guest appearances and it's kinda crazy just how many celebrities were on the show who hadn't even made it big yet!
@chrismorgan9153 The clip where they used this song is the only bit of Miami Vice that I've seen 😂 It's actually pretty good (the clip, anyway).
So glad you did this live version. I’ve seen Phil Collins and Genesis both. To see this live was simply amazing. Brought back the feelings and anticipation of what everyone watching this was about to experience!
For me it's right up there with the guitar duo/solo of Hotel California. FN EPIC !!!! 🥁🥁🥁🎸🎸🎸🎸💜💜💜
The drum fill...
Phil made this fill and another fill. (At his home studio...along with other parts of the song)
When he went to the main studio to mix the song, he grabbed all the tapes of the different tracks he had recorded. He looked at the 2 drums fills and didn't think either fill was special. He just decided to take the first one.
This is what we got. Phew.
I actually cried because this was absolutely phenomenal ❤
I absolutely love seeing the expression on people's faces when he hops on the drums and they've never seen him before!
I honestly really appreciate you doing the live versions first! I'm also someone who usually prefers studio versions, but your videos really help me gain a new appreciation for the live renditions, along with the energy and vibes from the reactors! Keep up the amazing work :)
I love this! Thank you for letting me know that. I am really set on the studio versions too but through watching reactions have learned to appreciate many live performances.
So….I knew this song was coming. I knew it was going to be a very good compilation.
But I did not realize it was going to be this live version 😮 And I forgot how insanely good this live version is.
So so so good!! Great work!
I love that Phil Collins has such a great singing career that many don’t know he was a drummer/singer from the start.
I was already a Genesis fan when this song came out. I’ve been lucky enough to see Phil perform solo and with Genesis, always a great performance. Hearing this particular song live is an amazing experience!
God damn i do listen to a lot of music but i did not hear this live version. Thank you Momma. My day is better today.
It's pretty amazing, isn't it? Happy to have been a part of improving your day!
I love the idea that thousands of us strangers from across the planet are all tuning in together to watch one of your videos, sharing in our love of music. I know you’ve said sometimes the making of a video can be challenging, please remember that the end result is a great source of joy to so many. ❤ WMOG - great live version - EDIT: loved Siera Eagleson’s voice/version very pretty
Summer of '84. Miami Vice was on, this song played in the first episode. It was magic. DO I still air drum, you bet I do hahaha
Being a backup/support drummer for Phil Collins must be the easiest job in the world.... "just hit the snare a few times, work the cymbals a bit, and I'll take care of the rest".
I have heard this song probably 100s of times over the years and the drum break down alway gets me. Once again great work.
Saw this live back in the day.
definetely a all time classic. Phil Collins is amazing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Another bomb dropped by the "Momma." No one does it better!!!
The man has soul. That drum drop hits so hard--sounds even better live!
I remember while growing up, the lady across the street from where I lived would give me a ride to school sometimes, and she would always play this.
Didn't know he was the drummer. Also never paid attention to the lyrics until this video.
Absolutely haunting.
Thank you for your hard work and for sharing it with us.
Why have I never seen this live!? 😮 it’s incredible live!
The live version of Take Me Home is amazing too!
You are cranking these out, lady! Another awesome job 😊
Almost every single one of us from GenX knows this song absolutely blew up on Miami Vice- circa 1981.
Fun fact: This song is about the lingering tension caused by the divorce of Phil Collins and his first wife. These negative feelings were "In The Air," and affecting not just the couple getting divorced, but the entire family.
Urban Myth: When Collins was a young boy, he witnessed a man drowning someone, but was too far away to help. Later, he hired a private detective to find the man, sent him a free ticket to his concert, and premiered the song that night with the spotlight on the man the whole time.
I can only imagine the hard work that goes into creating these fantastic compilations....you have my thanks and subscription.
Thank you very much and welcome to the channel!
Yes !!! Great editing skills!! So fun to 'watch' everyone enjoying iconic music 🎶
A beast of a musician!
And you did another great job, congrats.
Love how you put up the name of the reactor when they are on screen. AR, BP, and Elizabeth are always on top of reactions!
This live performance is one of my top ten live performances ever! In the Air Tonight is wonderfully eerie...haunting... goosebumps inducing and the fact that Phil sings with such clarity while doing that amazing and iconic drum fill always blows my mind. Thank you Wondermomma ❤...you once again hit my music life journey...I remember when it came out ...I loved it immediately...but there is something about this live version and build up...that is even more haunting to me...its like he knew this may be the last time he could physically do this song...you can feel the pain...Wow!!! Love to you for choosing this astounding live version! 💕
I laugh and smile watching these younger folks vibin the great tunes some of us grew up on.
My dude is a Lefty drummer...yep
BOOM!!!
The thing I like about this song no lip-synching no auto play no glitter cannons, no ass, shaking pure music with instruments a masterpiece
Momma's like the perfect student in math class: she always 'shows her work' ...'Nuther swing & a hit!
Can't wait to watch it again!
Phil doesn’t mess about❤
They synced videoes were so great when phil collins hit the initial notes on the intro.. every single video box i saw ear to ear smiles. I myself was all smiles as well. Genuine ,pure spontaneous joy!! Not one unsmiling face. Pure magic.. spectacular job to the girl that did this!!! Where has she been all these years?? Marriage material for sure. Nothing more sexy and mentally alluring than a chick who digs great music , is more technically savy than i and is a Led Zeppelin fan! A 10,10,10 !!!! The song, video ,her!
hahah... thank you for the kind words. My fiance thought so too and already put a ring on it. 😅 But I really appreciate the sentiment.
Now that is entertainment !
Ooooh, good one!!!
We can see a classic scene with this song, on the first episode of TV show "Miami Vice" (in 1984)
I just want to say that after seeing the compilation of reactions to this song has made me appreciate Phil even more which I didn’t think was possible. Thank you Phil. You are a legend. My heart sends you much happiness
Mommaaaa🤞🏾hope you had an amazing day thank you for your hard work
Thank you Stax, for stopping by and showing some love. 💜
@@WonderMommaOG gotta show love to my fav🤞🏾
@@StaxReacts Aw... 🤗 I just might have to adopt you. 😅 Seriously, thank you... you are a goodun.
Being an old fart and growing up outside of Chicago, I got to see a lot of these guys play live, you do such a masterful way of conveying the vibe/ feel of the song and then take all of the reactors and getting each of them and catching them at the moment when it hitting them... Master touch...
Thank you. I have to say I wouldn't be able to do so without my nerdy spreadsheets. 🤓
@@WonderMommaOG Nerdy or not, you use the tools you have to get the job done, and in this case they produced a beautiful product..I check daily to see if you've uploaded, you've turned me on to music I wouldn't have even thought of listening to..if you ever get to Tucson, I owe you a drink..
Yea this was greatness ❤
Was a big Genesis, Phil Collins fan. Haven’t hear this in years. He’s such an amazing drummer. Need to check out Phil/Chester Thompson drum duet🔥 Another great mashup WonderMommaOG👏Keep them coming❤
That was incredible! I can’t believe I’ve never seen this version. Thanks for sharing. This is such a great channel. Really appreciate your work.✨💫✨💫
Thank you Sarah! I'm glad you found me. 💜💜
The Best drum full in history. Totally iconic. Spent my childhood air drumming to this classic.
WonderMommaOG you are a master of this craft
We need more Phil reactions. Sadly, he is another legend whose health has prevented him from performing recently. I believe it's his hands or something making it unable for him to play. We keep losing our legends.
So nice watching 'the making' and the graphic selections. It is worthy (almost) to this fabulous performance. Isn't wonderful to have access to some of the best audio art ever produced?
Love it.
What can I say besides…phenomenal!
My older brother came home with the Face Value album. I was prolly 11 or so. My goodness, we played the heck out of that album. Nice work, Momma. 👍
AMAZING JOB on this WonderMomma! You always deliver clean, smooth compilations and I'm here for it. If I can suggest another live version of a song, AC/DC's Thunderstruck
That one is on my list! Thank you for being here.
@@WonderMommaOGAny chance of The Offspring-Pretty Fly For A White Guy (video)?
@@jillwanlin9558 Probably. lol I do know that song well. I can put it on my list. Can't say when I will be able to get to it at the present time. Appreciate the suggestion!
Reminds me of Sonny Crockett driving through the streets of Miami at night.
Phil Collins Great Artist song Amazing......
Man, every time with this live version I just imagine being there for that. Wow.
Thank you so much for an exceptional compilation - nothing was missed out, we got the views of most of my favourite reactors, and you compartmentalised them so well. And, of course, the song itself. Marvellous job - well done! ❤
Phil Collins remembers the Alamo a lot, keep up the goo work OG
I live in Australia and there was an advertisement on tv some years ago where a dude in a gorilla suit plays that iconic drum part, it's very entertaining. Also Phil played drums full time in a band called Genesis, they were great as well!
Great job! Thanks very much.
One of the greatest "beat drops" (the drums moment) in music HISTORY. You don't even have to be a fan of his or know his music to know that beat drop.
Wow! Great job, this was fantastic! Thanks ❤
I have not seen this poster before, however you are a Genius! Seriously, I appreciate your work! Huzzah!
THE greatest live music video I have ever seen! Thank you.
live was probably the way to go for this one…I mean, who hasn’t heard this song before? lol
The first time I heard this one was on Miami Vice baby! Us old folks heard it then and the young folks heard it in Hangover when Tyson sings it. I got to see this live in Oklahoma City on this tour in 2004 like three months after I got back from Afghanistan. The greatest drum drop in the history of rock!
The making of part makes me sad....you work so hard for so little. I guess this is what you love to do. Love you for it.
I cannot hear this song without thinking about Mike Tyson
Hang on guys this is my favorite part……. (Punches Allen)
"Give me a chorus line, guys"@@Sproatacus
OMG!! I had forgotten about that! The Hangover
Or the Cadbury chocolate ad I think it was with the gorilla playing the drums...
I'm a little older, so it's Miami Vice for me.
It's an incredible and beautiful video, Momma❣️
1 of my favs.
Saw Phil early on with Genesis and Peter was still front man. Later, saw Phil solo and again with Genesis as lead and Chester on drums, Phil wound play on certain songs, incredible.
Love this❣️🤩
SONG IS SO DOPE!
AMAZING I love you all lol Phil Collins GOAT🥳🙌🏽♥️
Good music can unite so many people 🎼🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶
Random Fact: This simple yet legendary drum line comes from the Zappa lineage. Chester Thompson, who played with Genesis, learned the line from Ralph Humphrey when they were both drummers in the early 70s Zappa line up and whilst playing with Genesis passed it on down.
Also, Phil is a phenomenal drummer! Take a listen to the 1976 Brand X album Unorthodox Behaviour. Great Jazz Fusion album with amazing musicians.
Thank you WonderMomma that was truly joyous! xxxx
Now that's a prayer... 🙏 Shout out from Tenerife (Canary Islands 🇮🇨🏝🌹)
Hoorah!
Young lady you are excellent at editing, and compilation. And if that’s your voice singing, it’s beautiful.
WOW! and thank you for such a wonderful compilation. Somehow you found all my favorite reactors/reactions to this incredible performance. You should put this on a CD. Loved it.
That was amazing! I've seen everyone of those individually (and more), but it was fascinating to see how you put it all together. You put a lot of work into these compilations. I hope you get compensated for all of your hard work. Beautiful! Thank you!
"Great job putting that together!" 👍👍
Thanks much! This is a mesmerizing performance by Phil Collins. The time and attention you invested in this compilation is truly appreciated. Excellent presentation🏆😊
Hey grl hey, Well a bit late, health kickin' my butt, but Im here and so ready for this. Hes such a phenomenal all around artist. U know its magic when everyone knows the song, yet has instant emotion and physical response. Music is the strongest form of magic. OMG Mr V. cracks me up "Santa", lmao. Great choice with acoustic Sierra Eagleson. So chillaxing. Thanx so much darlin, take care, Peace
