Thanks for your patience. We are finally getting into the engine. I’m supposed to hear about some new pistons today. If you have any questions let me know.
As always, nice to see a new video of you, like your way of filming and talking, true and honest, gj man👌🏻
Thanks man. Lots of work to do so more coming.
I've been slowly building my 350Z for the past 2 1/2 years and damn, they're rough to work with. It's very cool seeing these videos and how you go about things, you're one of the fewer people that actually sticks it out with the DE. Great content my dude
Thanks! Someone has to work with a DE!
I just finish doing the gallery gasket on my vqhr and damn that was a lot of work
Yeah I also did the same thing with my DE, from Oct 2019 - 'finished' April 2021 - haha
Took soo long for machinists to do the work (as they had tons on).
I assembled the engine in the living room :D
This is a great video man
Oh thanks. Working on a bunch more.
Man. That sucks. Well, this breeds opportunity. I ported my manifolds based on what LaVigne did with yours, on Insta pics. I’m super-impressed with his work. Mike- love the series. Quality build. Respect ✊🏼
Some custom JE 12.5:1 are already ordered. 8 weeks until arrival.
Yay !!!!!! Mike is back
🙌
I just recently did a teardown on my cammed roadster....got a new engine coming. Carrying some stuff over chose to forego my cams on the new motor.
Oh too bad. But good luck. Why did you lose the cams from the build?
Very curious if you ever plan on switching your front lower control arms to adjustable ones
So on another topic, would love to see you tackle mounting the wing to the CF hatch with bracing underneath. I am looking at the NS-style piece which would lay flat across the hatch to distribute the downforce but still worry about cracking.
Will be covered in the future
Michael I just bought another 350Z track Edition it came with that Siebon carbon fiber rear hatch as well as the OEM hatch and I can barely lift the damn thing! serious I cannot raise it to feet up in the air to carry it I have to sort of scoot it I can bring it up a foot in the air and then set it down after a few feet and I'm pretty strong so I'd say it weighs about 150 lb.
I covered it in episode 1 of this series a while ago. I went back and checked. The OEM hatch is 76 lbs
@@2THPWR Bizarre. I believe you but that's weird. I can lift 4 sacks of salt on my shoulders (160 lbs) but can barely carry this 76 lb hatch 10 feet.
Parts list (even the non-performance once)?
So was it a tuning issue (detonation) that caused the busted piston?
It went lean somehow? But how? Not sure yet
That piston thinks it's the Pope because it's holy. Kidding aside, sounds like you can't order 1 single piston because the set is custom, which sucks for cost control. If you don't have head bolts, I installed oem HR head bolts which are both better and slightly cheaper than the DE's.
I was so optimistic it was only the valves that needed work. But the valves are fine and the pistons need to be redone. Maybe a bump up in compression?
That would explain the loss of power, what do you think caused the hole?
I over heated it once pretty badly. It was the beginning of the end at that point.
Higher compression like 13.5:1??
12.5:1
what shock is yours, and at what adjustment, thx!
JRZ RS Pro. Not sure what you mean by what adjustment?
@@2THPWR i believe it is 3 way adjustable or 2 way? so how u settle with it? i mean what number for each adjustment?
@@dongli1627 oh it’s 2 way adjustable. How to adjust them is complicated
Hi. Is this the shop who built the first engine?
The engine was first assembled by Onpoint Dyno in 2011 through 2012. It was refreshed and improved by Lavigne Motorsports in 2015. Now it’s back at Lavigne Motorsports again for another round of refreshments and improvements in 2022.
@@2THPWR OK thank you. I don’t think I’ve ever been this upset watching someone take apart an engine. They just weren’t disassembling it correctly. Hope is all goes well and you get back on the track without engine problems. Thank you.
@@RDTechnologies163 thanks. Many of the parts including the engine block are being replaced. I’m sure it will be strong when it’s done.
@@RDTechnologies163 I thought the same thing.
Why not a X pipe?
No additional benefit, and weight savings
