I'm very excited in creating a remix album to the songs of Ultima: Exodus from the NES. This game is what got me into RPGs. I used to watch my father play the game as a child and later played it myself. There's this magic about the game I feel many understand if they've played the game before. The freedom, the cute graphics, strategy and little secrets scattered throughout the game made for quite the experience. But one of the aspects that had stuck with me all these years was how good the music was. The composition of each track had the basic three layers: melody, harmony and bass; yet all three had an intricate and melodic tune to them while still having an overall tune that can be heard and followed. I've always wanted to remix/arrange the music for the game and I actually started a project to do so about 8 years ago. But my lack of experience and knowledge in music limited me to only creating an arrangement for 3 guitars. I recently revisited the idea of remixing the soundtrack and decided to do so since my ability is sufficient enough to create what I want it to sound like.
This first track I created is the first thing the player hears right after the title screen/cave theme when creating a party. And since the remix is rather upbeat, I decided the name "Party Time!" was quite appropriate as it fulfills both meanings.
This was posted 9 years ago. 9 years this video stood the test of time and awaited for me to come along and give it the 100th like. Seems like fate would weave me into this Exodus song story.
I've been listening to TANgyStudios remix for "Guardian Legend" for years. I finally clicked on his channel and found another old game's music that I played a lifetime ago. :)

Search for hours for the picks and marks...trudge through dungeons making your own maps on graph paper...
Not knowing what enemies await you in that newly discovered realms...Good times. Good times.

One of my favorite soundtracks, and this is one of the best from it. Dig how your remix captured both the beauty of the melody and chord progression. It's both upbeat and sad...the best songs always are.

All the hours spent on the NES Ultima Exodus making new party members just to take their 200 Gold and erase them. Rinse and repeat for hours until you have 25K gold.

Ultima: Exodus was an NES RPG and the soundtrack was one of the few things compelling enough to power you through how HARD that game was. No difficulty there, you just had to make things work. It made champions of us all.
A grand NES video game for the time! Ultima: Exodus Just as Bandit has pointed out. The 80's were a wonderful time with all sorts of new breakthroughs and advancements in our culture. We went from having pixle dots on the screen to fully realized graphics and musical tones. Amazing time to be alive in human history. 🖖
