    What a rare musical find.

Oh wow... the music at 14:45. I haven't heard that in YEARS. It was only triggered by talking to a specific NPC in a certain town. He would simply say "Welcome, hero. We have waited oh so very long..."

      epic tune

It was haunting and beautiful. I thought it was weird that it only played in that one instance of the game. But I always made sure to talk to that guy as soon as I came into town.

Sometimes I come here just to hear that tune!! The line the NPC says,, and this tune, truly captures the spirit of this game

Possibly the greatest RPG ever... It didn't have it all, but it pushed the envelope for where and what it was.
I would say this and Dragon Warrior IV were the height of the NES-era RPG.
I've never come across another game where the villain was already defeated and the clean-up was this exciting.

as an avid rpg player i also found the story of this game quite unique.
you arent there to save the world from the big bad evil guy.
you're just there to be an inspiration to the people.
i always start by kinda cheating but not really.
i buy all the spices from the blind guy and pay just 1gp for each....and during the rest of the game i practice honesty.

Man, I just love this music! It has one of the best NES tracks, then again, so did many other RPGs.

At around 2:30 I imagined the lyrics to just repeat “what would you do?” Regarding the virtue questions

I kinda liked how I could tell my personality was shifting each time I replayed this game growing up. First time I ever played it, the questions gave me a shepherd. I tried it again later and I got the Druid, for Justice. I replayed it closer to adulthood and I got the Ranger for Spirituality. I wonder who I'd get if I played it now at almost 50 years old.
Playing as a shepherd sucked, by the way. The weakest character, no magic, can only use a wooden staff and cloth armor. But you do get that cool flute nobody else can play, that puts enemies to sleep. You're gonna need it.

LinktoLinkGamer Actually the original PC version itself boasted a pretty impressive soundtrack (which the amazing Sega Master System version used), but this is a nice alternative score; very "Ultima"-sounding in its own right.

that would explain why I don't remember one I had the IBM version. Thanks for clearing that up for me would have sucked if I bought a shit copy back in the day and still have it. Now I know us IBM users took the bullet for everyone else ;).

The Atari ST version probably has the best music but even the original had music with it.

I never noticed it until just now, but the bell theme at 18:30 reminds me a lot of the world map tune from the PC and Sega Master System versions of Ultima IV. It progresses a BIT differently, but sounds eerily similar.

Technology was different man. Can't directly port that computer sound to NES. Plus it's intentionally reimagined for the NES
