Green during fast, Cinnamon at end of fast, Ginger before or after the fast, Black to slow down digestion when eating in the morning, Passion Flower or Chamomile tea at night.
I do the same but I actually drink three different types of green teas, Yogi Green Tea Kombucha (has fermented black tea leaves), Yogi Decaf Green Tea, and Yogi Passion Fruit Matcha Green Tea. I usually have one of those three tea bags and mix it with another tea bag like either Trader Joe's Organic Ginger Turmeric Tea or Guaryaki's Organic Yerba Mate Tea. It's all so good and keeps my energized 🍵 Then, at night, I chill out with either Yogi Bedtime Tea (has Velarian root and chamomile) and Yogi Elderberry and Lemon Balm Immune + Stress Tea, mix the together and take a magnesium supplement (I use Magtech, has three types of magnesium in each capsule) and CBD gummies (non THC) and I am dead to the world for the whole night 😴
I don't like the green tea taste and recently I've learned if you put a cinnamon stick in green tea for a few minutes, it loses it's bitterness completely and is much easier to drink it, if you don't like the taste like myself. And you can (possibly) get the benefits from cinnamon too.
There’s decaf black tea. It’s the only kind of black tea I drink because I cannot have caffeine. Loose leaf is the only way to go. Also, to make any caffeine tea decaf, brew for 30 seconds, dump out only the water and pour fresh boiling water on the tea again, brew as per the type of tea being used (~4-5 min for black tea)….it’s now decaf.
Have you looked into Oolong tea? There's been credible research done showing that Oolong tea also has fat-burning benefits & speeds up metabolism. I've been drinking it recently and have noticed a great effect on my mental clarity & focus.
I do like Oolong tea better than black tea. I do prepare Chai with Oolong leaves and cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, cilantro seeds, pepper, ginger and clove spices.
Thank you Thomas - just what I needed, I’m glad you said about chamomile tea as that’s how I feel after I’ve taken it - will try the passion flower - I’m doing 24 hour and 16:8 intermittent fasting and loving the rebuild of my system 🙏🏼

First time I've heard you mention Passiflora. I am an amateur herbalist and I put it in all my night-time blends as it also has very gentle anti-anxiety properties - sleep is a complex beastie! Another great nighttime idea is to steep a banana peel in your chosen tisane - it's high in Potassium and Magnesium which are both great sleeping aids and the flavour may suggest sweetness enough to have you reach for less sweeteners in time. Thanks Thomas and team, great content as always.
Your videos have helped me a lot starting my my fasting and over all health journey. I do clinical research for a living so I also appreciate the research you post too.
This is a great video. I never was a tea drinker, only when I had a cold. I love the way you explain everything. Recently I’ve been making my own tea from fresh turmeric, fresh ginger, black pepper and cinnamon, and sometimes I ad fresh mint, soo good. I do have one question, if during a fast can you use monkfruit?
Since I started keto I feel less hungry and I CRAVE tea all day. I currently eat 2 meals a day but I could probably live off just 1 meal and 4 cups of tea (match, ginger/turmeric, and chai tea with a little extra cinnamon 😋) I also love decaf coffee (less jitters)

Depends on why you’re fasting. You’re either fasting yo give your body a break from insulin, or you’re fasting to promote autophagy for cellular repair. For resting from insulin, you can drink anything that doesn’t spike it. So anything with no carbs, no sugar and no sweet flavor (no replacement sweeteners). For autophagy, it’s usually only water and salt that’s allowed. Nothing else.

i have always wondered about 5 hr energy shots? do they break a fast?
Anything with calories breaks a fast.
They have four calories and zero sugar. I’d say your good.
I only drink herbal tea, coffee and water. Boring. Soda scares me. ❤️🇨🇦
I started drinking Perrier unflavored carbonated water during my fast and that’s really helped me switch it up from my coffee and tea!
No matter whicht kind of tea I drink at night, I like to (somewhat) sweeten it with magnesium glycinate, which is a sleeping aid of its own.
hmmm, mag glycinate is sweet? who knew? i take 2 capsules at bedtime. i have to break one open during my eating window & see how sweet it is.
@@mjgrant1515 It's an accquired taste, though. Because besides the mild sweetness (maybe about half as sweet as table sugar) there is also the typical amino acid taste (which I think is called "umami")
I read that white tea is better than black tea and green tea... I had never heard of white tea before I read this...
White tea, green tea and black tea are all exactly the same plant. The only difference is the degrees of curing and fermentation. White tea is the 'freshest'
I'm having problems with both coffee and tea on an empty stomach/fasting. Can anyone recommend something soothing or that coats the stomach that won't break my fast?
I take a half teaspoon of ground cloves and a pinch of cinnamon on an empty stomach. This helps have a settled stomach and eases any hunger feelings
Can i have Stevia in green tea without breaking my fast
Can I put Trader Joe’s oat milk in the green tea?
Not if you're fasting
Wish I liked green tea. It's repulsive to me
