When I think of midland, I think of someone I let go of. The lyrics of this song seem the voice of that “ghost” from my past. I hope the girl from Tupelo (or in this case Washington) makes him happy. They know who they are.

I inquire there’s a heavy influence considering Midland, and the buddies who help them write, are country connoisseurs who know plenty of classic tunes like “A night to remember”.
