    I grew up in poverty, spent a lot of money on certifications and my degree -40 plus years as a body therapist and I can’t afford what I’m trained in. My wish is that mite generous scholarships are offered for those who wish to serve a community which is struggling financially these days -it’s traumatic not to be able to afford what I need. Love the work so so much-doing what I can on my own 💗

      It always seems to come down to money and lots of it. That's one of the reasons I'm kind of skeptical of all these therapy centers. Why are we told so loudly that we can't help ourselves? Idk man just something to consider.

      I absolutely agree with you. I have a lot of certifications I have life lessons. I have workshops, etc. but because I don’t have a bachelors and I’m not bilingual, I cannot help the kids that need help so badly and all they need is unconditional love and for you to show up every time you say, you will show up that does not take a degreeand that does not take a second language. It’s extremely frustrating. What DCF has done.

    I absolutely love Peter Levine's work but I do think that diet - and proper nutrition - is just as fundamental when it comes to healing trauma as somatic work is (if not even more important). The nervous system needs nutrients & healthy fats to regulate itself and I always find it odd that this is never talked about in the trauma healing space - nor are the effects of caffeine and sugar on the nervous system - and it's ability to release trauma - ever mentioned. From personal experience a proper human diet is FUNDAMENTAL when it comes to healing trauma and probably even more impactful than body work.

  • @thinkfloyd2594

    it is quite insulting to those of us that were beaten, abused, incestually used, et. al. to call getting yelled at, once. as a kid, trauma. some of us endured hell. this is insulting. get your own word - momma-yelled, that's a good one.

    • @thekangaroo42
      @thekangaroo42 Před měsícem +2

      @thinkfloyd2594 Trauma is about our response to an event, not necessarily the event itself. Imagine being a young child, feeling safe, surrounded by family. Then something happened and every one of those safe people were all angry and yelling at you for a reason you might not even understand. That could easily cause trauma and remove the sense of safety around any loved ones. There is no need to compare traumatic events by saying one is worse than the other. What does that get you?

    • @SadieCleary
      @SadieCleary Před měsícem +1

      There is GREAT difference between someone who was beaten ten times and someone beaten 100 times by 3 different people. The amount and situation DOES matter. Maybe you mean the way to heal all of it is the same, but the one hurt more WILL have to work harder to get better. That should be acknowledged.

    • @Celebronora
      @Celebronora Před měsícem +3

      Someone else’s pain doesn’t invalidate yours, and your pain doesn’t stop someone else from suffering. It’s not a comparison or a competition. When you are belittling others and their experiences, it’s likely your feelings were ignored or punished when you were young. It’s “projection” and can be very useful in your healing journey. When you are willing to look at your own struggles, you are able to recognize that others are allowed to have them without feeling judgmental or dismissive.

      I would like to believe that there is a way. Intuitively one of the ways to do is becoming a child yourself again. Having a patient “mom”, instead of being one.
      There’s probably no way around sometimes intense grieving for 5 years, but that’s not a life sentence. Remember your child didn’t die every two minutes, every day for years, in reality it died once, in your head it might die a million times.

    • @LeighlaMarieTherapy
      @LeighlaMarieTherapy Před měsícem

      That loss becomes an integrated part of our life story. Sometimes “healing” is used as a way to say “forgotten” or “moved past” but with a death of a loved one, especially a child, we carry that experience with us forever. There will be a day when smiles, laughter and joy come back in and those emotions will live right alongside the grief and sadness. Healing is a journey and sometimes it’s about holding space for all of our human-ness (including exasperating emotions that come with grief). We can heal, but the scars may always serve as reminders of what we’ve loved and what we’ve lost.

    • @SuLawn
      @SuLawn Před měsícem +3

      Maybe eventually we could come to acceptance, but to lose a child, a loved one, it radically changes a person. That's when you need something to believe in. I'm sorry 🙏 for your loss. I send you healing.

    Of all his books. Would you say this to be publish one in the spring is the most impprtant for soembody who at 57 has finally come to believe thru cognitive therapy that I still have a chance to heal. I've been told ad nauseum that I m a wounded healer. I'm in a rush to heal, yes continuing my cognitive therapy. But my body knows way more than my mind. For the childhood abuse was preverbal.i can't afford 2 therapist. So plase peter levine recommend one for an Intuit, who has the capacity to self healing. But don't know how somstically. My body has been screaming messages at me for years now. I need to help myself interpret them. I know I can do it cause for the first time I'm my Life I know I can. At 57 I still have a chance of of a significant contributing life. Please HELP! FOR FUN AND FOR FREE!

    While the Doctor's contributions to the field of trauma are evident still each of these doctors do it from their own experiences of how things worked out for them. We know today that many factors are involved in moving on from trauma & environment, societal structural violence affects segments & groups of ppl ( most vulnerable like the poor, black ppl, ppl with disabilities, ppl that endure social injustices etc) many of these therapists only concentrate on the individual & they don't take other factors into consideration.

    You started off talking about science and psychology, and then you switched up into dream interpretation and talking to your ancestors, which is purely spiritual. So why not mention God? It’s like people in the society will talk about psychedelic drugs and how they reach nirvana and peace through them and shamans and whatever else but you guys are so afraid to talk about God. Anyways Allah says not to put any value on dreams or dream interpretation.
